Character and Finish Techniques Shiloh offers a myriad of special character and finish techniques to enhance the appearance of our stained and painted finishes. These are optional techniques that may be added to most finish colors, so let your creative side design the perfect finish. NICKEL GLAZE BROWN GLAZE MOCHA GLAZE SLATE HIGHLIGHT Glaze Available on most stain and paint colors, this process involves applying the glaze color to the entire finish and then wiping off excess material. The remaining glaze material hangs in profiles of doors, drawer fronts and other select components where glaze can be retained. Highlight Available only with select paint colors, this process involves applying the highlight color to the entire finish and then wiping off excess material. The remaining highlight material hangs in profiles of doors, drawer fronts and other select components where highlight can be retained. The highlight technique has a more subtle appearance than our glaze technique. VAN DYKE GLAZE BLACK GLAZE CAFE HIGHLIGHT Brushing Available only on select paint colors in combination with a highlight, this process creates the look of subtle brush strokes. Variation of intensity and direction are common and expected. Wearing Available with most stain and paint colors, this process simulates the look of worn down edges and corners of doors, drawer fronts and other select components. The various edges and corners are randomly pre-sanded prior to applying the stain or paint color. Variation is common and expected. FEATURES GLAZE, WEARING & DISTRESSING FEATURES PAINT WITH HIGHLIGHT Distressing Available with most stain and paint colors, this process involves the hand application of worm holes, rock dings, joint cracks and other random markings. Variation of intensity and types of markings is common and expected. Sand-through This technique is generally used on paint colors, but available with most stain or paint colors. This process involves sanding through the finish color to reveal the natural wood color beneath. It is applied to corners and random profiles of doors, drawer fronts and other select components.
