Wholesale Price Index in Iran (1376 = 100) The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) went up 1.2 percent in. Showing the index point of 207.8, the WPI was 10.9 percent higher than the similar month in 1381. During the first three month of the current Iranian year, the wholesale price index rose 10.7 percent compared to the similar period in 1381. The WPI, on the average, increased 10.4 percent during the last twelve months leading to the compared with the similar preceding period. In this month, the food group index went up 2.8 percent, which was attributed to the rise in the prices of red meat, chicken, Iranian river and Caspian Sea fish, dairy products, egg, biscuit, macaroni, fresh fruits (except melons) and root vegetables. In this group the prices of Persian Gulf fish and garden vegetables declined. The 5.0 percent increase in the group index of beverages and tobacco was due to the rise in the prices of beverages and filtered cigarettes. The advance in the prices of sheep skins and non-forest wood caused 1.0 percent increase in the group index of crude materials, inedible, except fuels. The mineral fuels and related materials group index remained unchanged. The chemical and petrochemical products group index reduced 2.2 percent, which was attributed to the decrease in the prices of propylene, polypropylene and polyethylene. The manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials group index and the machinery and transport equipment group index rose 0.3 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively. The miscellaneous group index decreased 0.8 percent. In the special groups, the farm, livestock and fishing products group index and the building materials group index went up 3.2 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively.
