1 Policy on Scoping Quality/Environmental Management Systems Certification Bodies Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the International Accreditation Service (IAS) applicants and accredited Certification Bodies providing Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) certification follow the general scope classifications as listed below. All scopes of accreditation issued by IAS must indicate the applicable discipline and QMS/EMS standard e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, including the applicable International Accreditation Forum (IAF) Code and IAS sectors/categories, as described in Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3.
