Safety Warnings & Advice GENERAL Keep out of the reach of children. This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of this appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. For indoor use only. This appliance is intended for domestic use and within similar environments, such as: - Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments. - Farm houses. - In hotels, bed and breakfasts, and other residential type environments. Only use the GoChef Cooker for its intended purpose as described in this manual. DO NOT use attachments that are not specifically recommended to be used with the Cooker. DO NOT disassemble or modify the GoChef Cooker in any way. 2

Safety Warnings & Advice ENVIRONMENT Only use on a safe, stable, heat-proof work surface, away from water or water splashes. Ensure the area immediately around the Cooker is free from clutter. DO NOT allow the Power Cord or plug to fall in water or any other liquid; to hang over the edge of surfaces; or to touch any hot surfaces. DO NOT place the GoChef Cooker on or near a hot gas or electric hob, or in a heated oven. DO NOT use or store the GoChef Cooker in damp or humid conditions. CORRECT USE Always unplug the GoChef Cooker immediately after use. The GoChef Cooker is not intended to be operated by a separate remote-control system or connected to an external timer. DO NOT use if the Power Cord or electric plug are damaged. Take great care when lifting the Glass Lid during or after cooking as steam or hot air will be released. DO NOT leave the GoChef Cooker unattended whilst frying. Never over-fill the Non-Stick Bowl. The maximum liquid capacity is 2.8 litres. DO NOT move the GoChef Cooker when the power is on. 3

Safety Warnings & Advice DO NOT touch hot surfaces (the Bowl and Lid) during or after use. Surfaces can remain hot even after the GoChef Cooker is switched off. Remove the Glass Lid carefully after cooking; do not touch the glass, only the handle. DO NOT place paper, cardboard, plastic or other flammable materials in the Non-Stick Bowl. DO NOT add water to hot oil. CARE & MAINTENANCE Wait for the Non-Stick Bowl to cool down completely after operation, before cleaning or removing parts. DO NOT attempt to repair the GoChef Cooker, Power Cord or plug if they become damaged. Repairs must only be made by a qualified service engineer. DO NOT handle or dispose of hot oils or other liquids. Allow to cool first before disposal. DO NOT pour cold liquid into the Non-Stick Bowl whilst it is hot or warm as this may cause damage. DO NOT use the Non-Stick Bowl on any source of direct heat other than the GoChef Cooker Power Base. DO NOT touch the GoChef Cooker or the Power Cord with wet hands. DO NOT immerse the Power Base in water or place in a dishwasher. Handle with care during cleaning. 4

Your GoChef Cooker Before assembly 1. Remove all packaging, including the foam sheet under the Non-Stick Bowl. Dispose of all packaging responsibly using local recycling schemes. 2. Wash the Non-Stick Bowl, Glass Lid and accessories in warm, soapy water. Dry fully before use. See page 14 for full cleaning and care instructions. Setting up 1. Plug in the Non-Stick Bowl. - Locate the gold pins on the Bowl s base. - Align these with the three sockets in the Power Base and Push the Non-Stick Bowl into the Power Base. 2. Plug the Cooker into the mains and switch on. Turning on and setting the timer To turn on Turn the Timer Dial anti-clockwise to the 'On' setting. - The Power Light will turn on. - The Cooker will stay on until you turn the Timer Dial to 'Off'. The Power Light will then turn off. To set the timer Turn the Timer Dial clockwise to the time you require. - The Power Light will turn on. - A bell will ring when the time has run out. - The Power Light will then turn off. PLEASE NOTE: Only turn the Timer Dial clockwise to set the cooking time. Turning anti-clockwise from the 'On' position may break or damage the timer. Before using for the first time Before adding any ingredients, heat the Non-Stick Bowl for a few minutes on a low temperature. This allows any residues from the manufacturing process to burn off. You may notice a small amount of smoke and a faint odour, but this is normal. Once this has cleared, the Cooker is ready to use. 6

GoChef Cooker Functions NOTE All temperatures and timings listed are for guidance purposes only. They may need adjusting according to food types, quantities and taste requirements. Always check food packaging/labels for food preparation instructions. IMPORTANT Never fill the Non-Stick Bowl higher than the Max Fill Line marked on the inside of the Bowl. DO NOT use sharp or metal utensils when stirring or serving food to avoid damaging the non-stick surface. Steam 140ºC 1. Pour two cups of water into the Non-Stick Bowl. Ensure you do not exceed the Max Fill Line. 2. Place the High Rack over the Non-Stick Bowl. Place your food on the Rack and put on the Glass Lid. 3. Set the temperature to 140 C and turn the GoChef Cooker on. Avoid opening the Lid until your food is cooked. 4. When finished, carefully remove your food. Wait for the GoChef Non-Stick Bowl to fully cool down. Use the Pouring Lip side of the Non-Stick Bowl to empty out the water from the Bowl. Max Fill Line Pouring Lip High Rack Warning Hot steam will be released when removing the Glass Lid. GoChef Cooker Functions Slow cook 110 140 C Max Fill Line 1. Place your food in the Non-Stick Bowl and cover it with liquid (water, stock, wine etc.) Make sure you don t exceed the Max Fill Line. 2. Place on the Glass Lid and turn the temperature to 110 140 C. Avoid opening the Glass Lid until your food is cooked. 3. When finished, carefully remove your food. Wait for the GoChef Non-Stick Bowl to fully cool down. Use the Pouring Lip side of the Non-Stick Bowl to empty out the water from the Bowl. Pouring Lip Warning Hot steam will be released when removing the Glass Lid. Be careful when removing the Lid and the Rack as they will both be hot. To slow cook meat Meat should be sautéed before slow cooking to help seal in the flavours. Large portions of meat such as joints should be cooked for around 3 4 hours with the Lid on while smaller portions such as breasts, legs, joints and chops should be cooked for approximately 1 2 hours with the Lid on. Meat suitable for slow cooking: Beef: Chuck, skirt, round steak, shin or gravy, shanks. Lamb: Lamb shanks, drumsticks, chops, neck chops, forequarter or shoulder. Veal: Diced leg, shoulder/forequarter chops and steak, neck chops, knuckle. Pork: Leg steaks, diced belly, diced shoulder, boneless loin chops. Poultry: Skinless pieces such as thighs and breasts. Coventional oven to slow cooker approx. conversion times Conventional cooking time Slow cooking time 15-30 mins 1-1.5 hours 30-50 mins 3-4 hours 1-3 Hours 4-6 Hours Note: As the maximum setting of the GoChef Timer is 120 minutes, we recommend using an external timer and placing the Cooker on the On setting to slow cook for more than 2 hours. 8

GoChef Cooker Functions Boil 220 240 C Max Fill Line 1. Fill the bowl with water without going over the Max Fill Line. 2. Turn the temperature up to 220 240 C and turn on the GoChef Cooker. Once the water is boiling add the food and then lower the temperature to 120 C to simmer. 3. When finished, carefully remove your food. Wait for the GoChef Non-Stick Bowl to fully cool down. Use the Pouring Lip side of the Non-Stick Bowl to empty out the water from the Bowl. Pouring Lip Warning Do not leave the Cooker unattended while boiling to ensure there is no risk of boiling over. Be careful if using the Glass Lid, as hot steam will escape when removed To boil vegetables Bring the water to the boil and then add your vegetables. Lower the temperature to 120 C and leave to simmer for 4 5 minutes or until cooked through. For green vegetables, leave the Glass Lid off; for other vegetables place the Lid on. For thick root vegetables, like potatoes and swedes, place into the water before bringing to the boil, then simmer. To boil pasta Bring your water to the boil and add your pasta. Lower the temperature to 120 C and leave to simmer for 10 12 minutes until soft. Check packet for exact times. To boil rice Pour your rice into the Non-Stick Bowl and add roughly twice as much pre-boiled water, without exceeding the Max Fill Line. Place on the Lid and cook for 15 minutes for white rice and for 40 minutes for brown rice. 9

GoChef Cooker Functions Bake 180 200 C 1. Place the Low Rack into the Non-Stick Bowl and turn the temperature to 180 200 C. 2. Place your ingredients on the rack. Oven safe pans and dishes can be used on the Low Rack. 3. Place on the Lid and turn the power on. Low Rack Warning Be careful removing the Low Rack after cooking as it will be very hot. To bake potatoes Place your potatoes on the Low Rack and set the temperature to 190 C for 60 80 minutes depending on their size. Test with a fork for softness. Adding a little water to the bottom of the bowl will help to give your potato a crisper skin. To bake quiche Place the quiche in an oven safe bowl on the Low Rack and cook at 200 C for 20 30 minutes or until cooked through. Note: The GoChef Cooker is only suitable for baking ingredients which do not need to rise. Fondue 100 120 C Place your ingredients into the Non-Stick Bowl and set the temperature to 100 120 C, then turn on. Stir your ingredients as they cook to ensure consistency. For cheese fondue Add your cheese, white wine and any other ingredients into the Non-Stick Bowl and cook for 15 minutes before serving. For chocolate fondue Warm cream and place in a mixing bowl together with chocolate broken into bits. Whisk and then add to the Non-Stick Bowl with your other ingredients and cook for 5 minutes before serving. 10

GoChef Cooker Functions Roast 180 200 C 1. Place the Low Rack into the Non-Stick Bowl and turn the temperature up to 180 200 C. 2. Place on the Lid and wait for the Heat Light to turn off. 3. Open the Glass Lid, place your food inside, then replace the Lid. Low Rack Warning Be careful when adding food to the Bowl and when removing the Rack after cooking as they will be very hot. To roast meat Cook for 1 2 hours, depending on the type of meat and the kind of joint you are preparing. To roast potatoes Place potatoes directly into the Non-Stick Bowl and coat with oil. Cook for 30 40 minutes at 180 C until brown. Turn potatoes several times during cooking. To roast vegetables Place vegetables directly into the Non-Stick Bowl and coat with oil. Cook for 30 40 minutes at 180 C until brown. Turn several times during cooking. Reheat 140 C Set the temperature at 140 C. For liquid foods (soup, sauces, stews etc.) place directly in the Non-Stick Bowl. For solid foods (meat joints, sausages, puddings etc.) use the Low Rack. Defrost 80 C Set the temperature at 80 C. For liquid foods (soup, sauces, stews etc.) place directly in the Non-Stick Bowl. For solid foods (meat joints, sausages, puddings etc.) use the Low Rack. 11

GoChef Cooker Functions Sauté 160 180 C 1. Pour a small amount of oil into the Non-Stick Bowl and turn the temperature to 160 180 C. For larger quantities of food, the temperature may need to be increased. 2. Once the oil starts to sizzle, place your ingredients inside. 3. Sauté until the edges start to colour and brown. DO NOT use metal utensils to stir ingredients in the GoChef Non-Stick Bowl. Only use plastic or wooden utensils. Pouring Lip Pan frying 220 240 C 1. Pour a small amount of oil into the Non-Stick Bowl. Turn the temperature to 220 240 C. 2. Once the oil starts to sizzle, place your ingredients inside. 3. Fry until crisp, brown and cooked on both sides. Use a plastic utensil to turn during cooking. To fry meat (burgers, bacon, etc.) Place the meat in the Non-Stick Bowl when the oil is sizzling and fry until crisp or brown on both sides. Use a plastic utensil to turn during cooking. Shallow frying 140 160 C 1. Pour in just enough oil to cover the bottom of the Non-Stick Bowl. Turn the temperature to 140 160 C and turn on. 2. Once the Bowl has heated up and the Heat Light has turned off, carefully add your ingredients. To shallow fry fish Cover your fish in flour or breadcrumbs and add to Bowl once the oil is sizzling. For small fish, like scallops or prawns, fry for 2 3 minutes. For large fillets, fry for 5 10 minutes. 12

GoChef Cooker Functions Flash Frying 200 210 C 1. Pour oil into the Non-Stick Bowl, filling about half way to the Max Fill Line. Turn the temperature to 200-210 C and turn on. 2. Place your ingredients inside the assembled Frying Basket and rest on the side of the Non- Stick Bowl, using the hook under the handle. Frying Basket Max Fill Line 3. When the Heat Light turns off, unhook and carefully lower the Basket into the oil to cook for 30 60 seconds. When you have finished, rest the basket on the side of the Non-Stick Bowl to allow oil to drip back Pouring Lip into the Bowl. 4. When finished, wait for the GoChef Non-Stick Bowl and the oil in it to fully cool down. Use the Pouring Lip side of the Non-Stick Bowl to empty out the oil from the Bowl. Warning Do not leave the Cooker unattended while flash frying. Do not touch any part of the Frying Basket except for the handle. Be careful when removing the Basket from the Cooker as hot oil will drip from the Basket. To flash fry French fries Divide your fries into small batches. Add to the Basket and fry the first batch once the Heat Light has turned off for 1 2 minutes. Remove the first batch and drain on a piece of kitchen towel. Add the second batch of fries, but only when the Heat Light has turned off again. Once each batch has been fried, repeat the above, cooking each batch again for 1 2 minutes to give them a crispy, brown finish. Deep fry 180 C 1. Pour oil into the Non-Stick Bowl, filling it until it reaches the Max Fill Line. Turn the Temperature Dial to 180 C and turn on. 2. Place your ingredients inside the assembled Frying Basket and rest on the side of Non-Stick Bowl, using the hook under the handle. 13

GoChef Cooker Functions Deep fry 180 C - continued 3. When the Heat Light turns off, unhook and carefully lower the Basket into the oil to cook. When you have finished, rest the basket on the side of the Non-Stick Bowl to allow oil to drip back into the Bowl. 4. When finished, wait for the GoChef Non-Stick Bowl and the oil in it to fully cool down. Use the Pouring Lip side of the Non-Stick Bowl to empty out the oil from the Bowl. Warning Do not exceed the Max Fill Line when adding oil to the Bowl. Do not leave the Cooker unattended while deep frying. Do not touch any part of the Frying Basket except for the handle. Be careful when removing the Basket from the Cooker as hot oil will drip from the Basket. To deep fry chips Cook for 8 12 minutes. Frozen chips may take slightly longer. Lift the basket every few minutes to shake. Cleaning & Care Emptying oil and liquids from the Non-Stick Bowl Allow the Non-Stick Bowl to cool completely before emptying. When safe to remove, lift the Bowl from the Power Base. Pour oil and liquid from the Pouring Lip of the Non-Stick Bowl. Cleaning the Non-Stick Bowl & accessories Always allow the Bowl and its attachments to completely cool down before cleaning. Wash all parts in warm, soapy water and allow to dry fully before reusing or storing. - The Non-Stick Bowl and accessories are NOT dishwasher safe. - The Glass Lid is dishwasher safe. - Do not use abrasive detergents or scourers. Cleaning the Power Base Wipe down with a dry, clean cloth. - Do not use abrasive detergents or scourers. - The Power Base must not be submerged in water. Cleaning precautions Unplug from the mains before cleaning. Never pour cold water into the Non-Stick Bowl if it is warm. Do not use abrasive scourers or steel wool on any part of the GoChef Cooker. 14

Fuse & mains plug replacement (UK & Ireland only) This appliance is fitted with a BS 1363 13-amp plug. If you have to replace the fuse, only use those that are ASTA or BSI approved to BS 1362 and have a rated current of 13 amps. To change the fuse 1. Use a flat-head screwdriver to prise the cover off the fuse compartment. 2. Carefully remove the existing fuse. 3. Clip the new 13 amp fuse into place. 4. Clip the cover back firmly into place.
