The Land of Israel Cities Cover The Land of Israel Cities Inside title page Arimathea is the city of Joseph, a disciple of Jesus, who carried the body of Jesus to the sepulchre. Peter lived in the city of Capernaum on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Jesus went there often and when he arrived there, the people crowded themselves into Peter s house to see him and to listen to his Word. Jesus performed many miracles in this city. In Samaria, in a town called Sychar, Jesus spoke with the Samaritan woman and she recognized him as the Messiah. Nazareth is the city where the Virgin Mary lived; and there the angel Gabriel told her she would become the Mother of God.
