INDUCTEE APPLICATION PACKET
Beta Alpha Psi is the National Honors Fraternity for Financial Information Professionals for those who have achieved a high standard of excellence in accounting, finance, and BCIS. There are approximately 250 Beta Alpha Psi chapters throughout the United States. As a member of Beta Alpha Psi, you are given the opportunity to form close relationships with fellow accounting, finance, and BCIS students and faculty. In addition, you will learn more about the firms you may want to work for, as well as the accounting, finance, and technology professions as a whole. The purpose of Beta Alpha Psi includes the recognition of outstanding academic achievement in accounting, finance, and BCIS and the promotion of the study and practice of accounting, finance, and BCIS. It encourages a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility of the profession. Beta Alpha Psi also provides an exceptional opportunity for members to informally meet representatives and recruiters from the various accounting firms and business organizations that employ accounting, finance, and BCIS majors. Membership is open to all persons regardless of race, creed, color, sex, religion, disability, or national origin. There are four categories of membership: student, faculty, alumnus, and honorary. Members have good moral character and have achieved academic or professional excellence in the fields of accounting, finance, and BCIS. Graduate students who were members as students can retain membership as long as they continue their accounting program. Student members who relocate to another institution to obtain a graduate degree or complete an undergraduate program can become members of the local chapter if they apply for membership and meet all membership requirements for that local chapter. To become a member of the of Beta Alpha Psi, there are certain criteria that must be met. You must have completed a minimum of nine credits of accounting having maintained an accounting grade point average of 3.2, as well as an upper level accounting average of 3.0 (upper level accounting refers to all accounting classes except Accounting 1 & 2). Also, to become a member, you must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2. As an inductee or member of the fraternity, you will actively participate in our professional and social events. In addition, you will attend most of our weekly meetings and join two committees. Finally, you are required to contribute an article to our alumni newsletter. KPMG awards a $500 scholarship to the most active inductee or member. Other scholarships are available to those who qualify! If you are interested in becoming a member of the of Beta Alpha Psi, you should complete an application, submit a copy of your Hofstra transcript (unofficial), and pay a membership fee of $55.00. Weekly meetings are held on Wednesdays during common hour (11:15 AM 12:40 PM) in 100 Breslin Hall. BETA ALPHA PSI INDUCTEE REQUIREMENTS Updated 8/30/04 TO BECOME A MEMBER, YOU MUST 1. Attend most of the weekly meetings 2. Join the tutoring committee and one additional committee 3. Hand in a hard copy of your resume and send a copy by email to HofstraBAP@aol.com 4. Pay the Membership Fee of $55(check payable to Beta Alpha Psi) 5. Attend the Fall Social 6. Attend Office Visits 7. Attend most social functions (i.e. Breast Cancer Walk, Semantics, etc ) 8. Write and submit an article for the Alumni Newsletter 9. Attend the Fall Induction Ceremony Academic Requirements: Since Beta Alpha Psi is a national honor society the minimum academic requirements include: (along with the completion of 9 semester hours of accounting) 3.2 overall G.P.A. in accounting 3.2 overall G.P.A. 3.0 overall G.P.A. in all upper level accounting classes (intermediate and above)

COMMITTEE LISTING 1. HISTORY COMMITTEE: 2 co-chairs Two co-chairs are responsible for photographing all Beta Alpha Psi events for our Horizons newsletter. Access to a camera is necessary for at least one chair. 4.
