History Windhorst Transport has a long history and tradition. The oldest officially recognized document relating to the history of our company is a mortgage deed dating back to 1818, in order to finance a barge. For many years and over generations regular barge services were maintained from Hazerswoude to Leiden and Rotterdam, initially by track-boats, next with motor vessels. The first truck Yet in 1925 the foundation of one of our specializations is a fact; the transport of trees and shrubs. In this year the transport of tree nursery products by ship to the harbour of Rotterdam takes off. In Rotterdam the cargo is transhipped onto large vessels destined for the United Kingdom and Scandinavia. Due to the seasonal nature of this kind of trade, Windhorst seeks to supplementary businesses. This results in the purchase of a truck for the transport of fertilizers to farmers. International Trade Centre In 1976 the barges are put on sale, and from this moment on Windhorst exclusively focuses on road transportation.
