Ground source heat pump guide Why Vaillant? Because we re digging deep to find the heating products of tomorrow.

You can be sure that when it comes to creating the perfect environment, Vaillant has it all under control. For more than 135 years, we have been setting the standards in the heating market, developing products that have revolutionised the industry. Today we are one of Europe s largest heating technology manufacturers, with an enviable reputation for performance, efficiency, quality and reliability. Leading the way requires constant innovation. We continually invest in developing new technologies for even better solutions all designed to create the perfect climate. Benefits of geotherm The geotherm range of ground source heat pumps provides maximum comfort and efficiency, combined with simple installation, smooth operation and advanced diagnostics that have become synonymous with the Vaillant brand. Vaillant isn t just taking heating technology forwards and upwards it s taking it downwards, too, to unearth heating solutions that combine maximum heat efficiency with simple installation. How does geotherm work? geotherm ground source heat pumps utilise energy stored in the ground, transfer it through a refrigerant cycle and convert it into heat that s perfect for space heating and hot water production. As ever with Vaillant, this ingenious product has been designed to ensure that the installation can proceed as seamlessly as possible and provide efficient, reliable heating on a continuous basis once installed. One of the most reliable sources of renewable heat, the Vaillant ground source heat pump comes with free commissioning and our intelligent remotely monitored control to ensure continuous comfort and peace of mind. As environmental concerns grow and your heating costs rise, the geotherm range underlines Vaillant s commitment to meeting ever-changing needs by giving you the fuel efficient solutions you re looking for.

geotherm Vaillant isn t just taking heating technology forwards and upwards it s taking it downwards too, to unearth heating solutions that combine maximum heat efficiency with simple installation. It may take its energy source from within the ground, but the ground source heat pump range is taking home comfort to new heights delivering heating and cooling in one solution. geotherm geotherm is the perfect solution for heating your home. geotherm can be connected to a suitable high performance hot water cylinder for domestic hot water (DHW) and to an underfloor heating or radiator system for space heating. The geotherm range of ground source heat pumps provides maximum comfort and efficiency, combined with simple installation, smooth operation and advanced diagnostics that have become synonymous with the Vaillant brand. geotherm can be used in residential and commercial properties. The geotherm products are complemented by a range of large output heat pumps designed for larger homes or commercial buildings which operate on a 3 phase electricity supply. geotherm offers a complete solution to your home comfort providing heat in the winter, passive cooling in the summer and DHW throughout the year, all from a single unit. is equipped with a weather-compensated energy-balance control unit incorporating a 175 litre stainless steel DHW cylinder and a 4kW electric auxiliary (backup) heater. includes an integrated passive cooling function when used with an underfloor heating system. During the summer months the heat recovery process can be reversed. The excess heat in the living space is withdrawn via the underfloor heating system and then transferred to the ground. geotherm key features and benefits: Range of nine different output models available - 6kW, 8kW, 10kW (powered by single phase electricity), 14kW, 17kW, 22kW, 30kW, 38kW and 46kW (powered by three phase electricity) Evaporator with injection system for increased heat transfer 10 Weather compensated energy balance control Maximum flow temperature of up to 62 C for domestic hot water Multi-stage Sound Insulation (MSI) for whisper quiet operation Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited - eligible for government subsidies key features and benefits: Range of three different output models available - 6kW, 8kW and 10kW Evaporator with injection system for increased heat transfer Passive cooling function for complete home comfort solution 10 Maximum flow temperature of up to 62 C for domestic hot water Multi-stage Sound Insulation (MSI) for whisper quiet operation Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited - eligible for government subsidies *When commissioned by a Vaillant service engineer or approved agent *When commissioned by a Vaillant service engineer or approved agent

geotherm ground source heat pump range Will a ground source heat pump be suitable for your home? geotherm can be connected to a suitable high performance hot water cylinder for domestic hot water and to an underfloor heating or radiator system for space heating. It is an excellent choice for many properties, especially those off the gas network, and provides exceptional all year round performance. How the technology works Ground source heat pumps use energy stored in the ground and convert this to heat for heating or hot water production. Low temperature energy from the earth is passed through a CFC-free refrigerant cycle, which converts this energy to higher temperatures for use inside the home or workplace. Throughout the geotherm range the process of heat generation is controlled and monitored by advanced sensors. Continuous pressure measurement in the refrigerant circuit, the heating system and the bore hole/ground loop collector in combination with an anti-freeze function provides optimal comfort. The range also includes larger heat pumps for bigger domestic properties. When was the property built? I nsulation levels in new properties have constantly improved since 1995 and therefore have a great bearing on the output required from a ground source heat pump. Please note properties built pre-1970 may need a great deal of building fabric improvements to allow a ground source heat pump to work efficiently. I s there a preference for a ground collector or bore hole? Domestic properties may require up to 400m2 of land for ground collectors to be laid in and for bore holes, adequate access is required for heavy plant and drilling machines. This needs to be considered. Is there suitable space within the home to house a ground source heat pump? Ground source heat pumps are floor standing and therefore may not be suitable to be placed in the same position as your current boiler. Compressor Vertical bore hole collector Features and benefits Very high efficiency as the energy is coming from the ground - a stable temperature source Homeowners will be eligible for future Government funding if the heat pump is installed by an MCS accredited installer Lower fuel consumption than many conventional heating systems, helping reduce fuel bills and carbon emissions No extra space required to store fuel Horizontal ground collector Homeowners are protected from increasing gas, oil and LPG costs Perfect for use with underfloor heating and suitable for use with radiators Multi-stage Sound Insulation (MSI) offers whisper quiet operation 3 year guarantee when commissioned by a Vaillant service engineer* *2 year guarantee as standard Evaporator Ground loop collector Condenser Expansion valve Heating system
