In the world classification Ukraine is 1 place in volume of gas transit through its territory; 5 place in volume of import gas (after USA, Japan, Germany and Italy); 11 place In level gas consumption (after USA, Russia, Iran, Canada, England, Japan, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia and China); 29 place in mining of natural gas.

Ukrainian gas transportation system 30 млрд. м 3 23 млрд. м 3

National joint stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine Operator of Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS) Other activities: - natural gas and oil production - oil transit - natural gas supply within the country - sale of oil products

Gas transportation system of Ukraine Accounts for 80% of Russian natural gas export to EU Through-put capacity: input 290 bcm per year output 178 bcm per year, including ECE direction 142 bcm per year Number of underground natural gas storages 13 Active storage capacity 32 bcm (the second place in Europe)

Naftogaz of Ukraine: transit goals Fulfillment of transit obligations Ensuring Ukrainian GTS annual loading of 120 bcm Modernization aimed on capacity, reliability and efficiency enhancement of Ukrainian GTS

Ukrainian gas pipeline system (UGPS): perspectives Modernization and reconstruction 3 bln. USD. (Master-plan) «Nord Stream» 55 bcm per year Construction of additional capacities: compressor stations on Torzhok Dolyna gas pipeline Novopskov - Uzhgorod gas pipeline 5,5 bln. USD Possible increase in transit up to 103 bcm per year: - existing, based on actual transit volumes in 2009 + 50 bcm - due to construction of addition capacities + 53bcm «South Stream» 63 bcm per year NABUCCO 31 bcm per year

Naftogaz of Ukraine: transit objectives to develop cooperation with Gazprom and EU to adjust national legislation on national gas market operation to improve efficiency of natural gas transportation to ensure reliability of natural gas transit and supply

Naftogaz of Ukraine objectives specific to GTS operation Modernization and enlargement of underground natural gas storages Modernization of natural gas pipelines and compressor stations Construction of new natural gas pipelines and compressor stations Implementation of European standards for GTS operation Introduction of energy saving equipment and technologies

Gas transportation system of Ukraine: securing reliability Ongoing control over gas transportation system operation («SCADA» system) Diagnostic of linear part of natural gas pipelines («intellectual» pigs «Rosen»)

Transit Volumes bcm 11,3 19,1 15,3 16,8 16,7 14,9 14,7 3,1 2,7 3 112,3 123,6 105,3 124,4 106,3 121,6 112,4 129,2 120,4 137,1 121,4 136,3 113,8 128,5 112,1 115,2 116,9 119,6 92,8 95,8 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 To CIS countries To other countries in Europe Total

Projects of GTS capacity increase Construction of compressor stations on Torzhok - Dolyna gas pipeline allows for transit capacity increase up to 24 bcm per year Construction of Novopskov Uzhgorod gas pipeline with project capacity up to approximately 29 bcm per year Total expected increase in transit volumes up to 195 bcm per year + 24 billion cm + 29 billion cm

Implementation of energy saving technologies Energy Saving Programme for 2008 2012 adopted by Naftogaz of Ukraine focuses on: replacement of outdated gas compressor units at GTS compressor stations utilization of off-energy resources (expansion turbine power plants, cogeneration and module energy generating units) introduction of technical, technological and organizational changes improvement of natural gas consumption control due to gas meters installation

Hydrocarbons metering Set up the International Eastern European Metrological Centre in Ukraine under TACIS INOGATE European Commission technical assistance programme Metrological centre will offer modern high-accuracy measuring units for hydrocarbon metering to Naftogaz of Ukraine, Ukrainian and foreign customers

Naftogaz Gazprom : cooperation perspectives On April 21, 2010 in Kharkov (Ukraine), Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gazprom signed amendments to the acting long-term contracts

Energy dialogue: conclusions Successful cooperation: Russia+ Ukraine + European Union Major principles of further cooperation : - fulfillment of contractual obligations - projects development based on feasibility and economic efficiency analyses - commitment to EC regulation requirements - adherence to national interests
