Management degree program is mainly tailored towards Human Resources Management, which concentrates on the management of people in the workplace. It prepares students for careers in personnel management and labor relations in business, government and labor organizations. Course work is concerned with management of human resources, including selection, training, evaluation, and compensation of employees. In a dynamic, changing, and uncertain environment, however, a broad managerial education can provide career advantages in terms of flexibility and breadth of knowledge. In this respect, our B.Sc. 202 - Principles of Management credits The course provides the students with an understanding of the theoretical concept of management process and assist in the recognition, understanding and appraisal of the characteristics of a competent manager- planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. It also explores the behavioral aspects of management with emphasis on leadership and motivational theories. Prerequisite: sophomore standing. 01 - Organization Behavior credits This course analyzes the characteristics and dynamics of organizational components- interpersonal dynamics, group dynamics, structural design, leadership styles and the effects they have in determining organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Prerequisite: 202. 02 - Human Resource Management credits Survey of the personnel functions, recruitment, selection and training, wage and salary administration, job evaluation and employee appraisal. Personnel functions and its relationship to the effective functioning of an organization is discussed along with labor laws, grievance handling and contract negotiation. Prerequisite: Junior standing. 06 - Introduction to Electronic Data Processing credits The course introduces students to microcomputer application. Word processing, electronic spreadsheets, popular business use of computer, domestic use of computer, effects of computer revolution, introduction to application software development (BASIC and cool programming). Prerequisite: Comp. Sc. & 102. 07 - Principles of Business Law I credits The study of law as it relates to business operations. Topics include law and its source, the judicial system, legation and the nature of torts and crimes, methods for resolving conflicts and principles of law of contracts. Prerequisite: junior standing. 08 - Principles of Business Law II credits The course explored fundamental concepts, principles, and rules of law apply to business transactions. Topics covered include sales contracts, the nature and scope of commercial papers, secured transactions, agency as applied to business operations and the types of business organizations; Partnership and cooperation law. Prerequisite: 07. 407 - Manpower Planning and Development credits The course focuses on planning of manpower needs of the organization. It involves assessing manpower needs at the national and corporate levels, sources and methods of recruitment, building training programs, measuring the effectiveness of training programs. It also discusses the application of modern theories of motivation to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of employees. Emphasis is placed on the development of managerial employees. Prerequisite: 02.
408 - Managerial Psychology credits This course applies the science of psychology to the study of individual human behavior in such business situation as supervision, decision making, problem solving, group dynamic and leadership. Prerequisite: 01 & 02. 410 - Wages and Salary Administration credits This course focuses on the basic principles governing the management of efficient and effective wages and salary administration. It examines the framework of job and employee evaluation, the basic systems and plans of compensating, managerial employees and the administrative controls of wages and salaries. Prerequisite: 02. 12 - Quantitative Techniques for Management Decision credits Statistical and mathematical models for decision-making: Linear programming, work processes, Queuing theory, game theory and simulation, interpretation of linear programming, simplex method, sensitivity analysis and project evaluation techniques. Prerequisite: Econ 20. 416 - Project Analysis and Management credits The course is intended to introduce the students to the project cycle, project analysis, and planning, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, the management of ongoing industrial, agricultural and social project. Emphasis is placed on the application of methodologies and techniques through case studies and special projects. Prerequisite: senior standing. 40 - Thesis Research 6 credits Independent academic research work carry out by the student with c closed supervision from one of the professors of the department. Prerequisite: senior standing & Econ 14.
