MIGRANORSK ALFA Starting course for beginners with instructions in 10 languages. The program offers videos, photos, audio files and exercises related to themes portraying everyday life in Norway. Each theme will increase the beginner s oral and written vocabulary. Sound, video, speeches, pictures and several interactive activities strengthen the learning possess. Instructions explaining the different tasks are provided in ten different languages. A dictionary of about 500 words is also translated into different languages. The primary target group for Alpha is adult minority language speakers with little or no formal education. The programme can also be beneficial to pupils for whom, on account of various learning difficulties, the learning process takes a long time. The flexibility of the programme increases the probability that people who have previously dropped out of education can come back and restart their learning. There is evidence that information and communication technology is particularly suited to this target group. It provides immigrants with additional skills, and is also a user-friendly product that pupils without much ICT experience can use. Alphabet and letter pronunciations. The learner can practice oral and written comprehension through this program. They can also learn to distinguish different sounds. The program can also be used by beginners as an introduction. Foreigners with no prior knowledge of the Latin alphabet have been successful using the Alfa program. The contents and method were developed in collaboration with foreign language students, pedagogues and language researchers. SÅ GØY! Workbook Alfa is designed for learners who have discovered the reading mechanism and need training. The book has nine different types of exercises. All photos are printed in colour and originate from the program. A work method is suggested in the workbook. Other methods can be located on our website.

MIGRANORSK START Norwegian language for beginners is an easy and quick introduction to the Norwegian language. The course contains many video episodes, interactive exercises, a multimedia dictionary and a grammar e-book. The dramatized episodes show Nita s arrival to Norway at the airport of Oslo. She comes from India to study. This is the start of Nita s story in Norway. An introduction to the language. Pronunciation is emphasized, and many listening exercises make learners practice the Norwegian sounds. A number of very frequent used expressions and Norwegian phrases are introduced. Learners may practice how to introduce themselves, give personal information as address, phone number, civil status and profession. They also learn the numbers, colors, the weekdays, months, seasons, hours etc. Level A0 is especially developed for those following the self-study option. The video episodes in Migranorsk Start have subtitles in English, Norwegian, French, Spanish and Polish. NORWEGIAN SOUNDS Learning the Norwegian Sounds. The Norwegian Sounds is a separate course designed both for beginners and those who want to improve pronunciation. The course is illustrated with many explanations and exercises. Learners are invited to listen to the alphabet and learn both the sound of the letters and then how to spell names. The difficult sounds of the language are practiced trough interactive exercises.

MIGRANORSK ALLMENN Norwegian language basic studies. The program contains 100 episodes, thousands of interactive exercises, a multimedia dictionary and a grammar e-book. The dramatized episodes show Norwegian everyday life at work and at leisure. Learners are introduced to Norwegian language and culture through authentic situations. The videos portray drama, love and humour, etc. Migranorsk Allmenn follows the national teaching program in Norwegian Language and Society for Adult Immigrants. Norwegian tests are independent courses. They evaluate what the learners have comprehended with regards to the content and the progression of Migranorsk Allmenn programs. The level tests are based on the Norwegian language official exams. The tests develop good learning strategies and increase motivation. Listen training. We have developed an independent course designed for learners who need additional listening comprehension training. All exercises and episode summaries from Migranorsk Allmenn are combined in this separate course. Workbooks. The books comply with and supplement the episodes. They are intended for learners attending levels A1, A2 and A3 (spor 2 and 3). The three books are illustrated with photos from the program and other sources. The books have many suggestions to classroom activities stimulating oral exercises and performances. Teaching plan. The program is used by schools, companies and private citizens. Some learners use the teaching plans on their own. Others are assisted by an online tutor who corrects the written exercises, listens to the audio files and tracks the learner s improvement. The program is used as an independent teaching tool or as a supplement to other kinds of teaching at different schools.
