Hausner s Precast Storm Shelters & Safe Rooms

Hausner s Storm Shelter Models Slope Front Flat Top

All Hausner s storm shelters meet FEMA 320, 361 and ICC 500 protocol. They have also been tested at Texas Tech s Wind Science & Engineering Research Center and we are a member of the American Tornado Shelter Association and the Better Business Bureau. Hausner s is committed to building safe, affordable shelters; and our number one goal is satisfied customers. The following accessories are included at no extra charge: n Double continuous handrail on steps for added safety (on slope front models) n Gas operated door closer n 8 wind turbine for ventilation n 6 vent After Hausner s has installed your storm shelter, you may find creative ways to enhance the appearance of their storm shelter. Landscape timbers, railroad ties and stone are used in interesting ways. Made Strong to Protect Your Family Our storm shelters are designed and constructed with your protection in mind. They are reinforced with fiber mesh as well as steel rebar, and they are poured with a minimum of 6,000 psi concrete; a normal driveway has 3000-4000 psi concrete. Inside Dimensions Jumbo Shelter Large Shelter Small Shelter The small storm shelter can be carried in with a backhoe. Flat Top Width: 6 8 6 0 5 0 5 0 Length: 10 0 8 0 7 0 7 0 Height: 6 2 6 2 6 2 6 2 On the Flat Top shelters, a spring-operated 120# capacity door opener has been utilized and requires no post, pulley or cable to operate. On the Slope Front shelters, we use a hydraulic strut. The door can be located in the top of the unit according to the contractor or homeowner specifications. Before You Order Your Shelter The trucks that deliver the shelters must be able to get to the area where your shelter will be installed. This means that our trucks must have clearance to the installation location. Hausner s trucks are large; they need a minimum 9 of width and 13 1 /2 of clearance. Also, in order to install your shelter, OKIE requires very accurate directions to the installation location. Please be prepared to give us these directions to the tenth (1/10) of a mile in order for us to get OKIE to mark the proposed shelter location.

Safe Rooms Hausner s offers metal and concrete safe rooms. Our concrete safe room has an interior dimension of 6 x 6 x 6 2. Our safe rooms are constructed of A36 3/16 plate steel with 3/16 C channel for bracing. Both metal and concrete safe rooms have a 36 door that is manufactured from two sheets of steel. The outer skin is a 3/16 and the inner skin is 12-gauge with Z bracing and has three (3) dead bolt locks installed. Ventilation is provided through two 4 vents and the entire unit is primer painted. Textured and colored concrete (shown in the lower right photo) is an upgrade and an extra charge. Available sizes 4 x 6 4 x 8 6 x 6 6 x 8 8 x 8

How to Maintain Your Shelter (Homeowner s Responsibility) It is very important to keep dirt packed around your shelter. After the first few rains, you will see considerable settling around the unit. This is normal. It is necessary to rake the dirt back up against the shelter on all sides. It is recommended by the manufacturer that the dirt remains over halfway up the sides and back of your shelter. To extend the life of the steel door hinges, it is recommended to lubricate them at least twice a year. The steel door of your shelter has been painted with a metal primer. To prevent rusting, you may wish to re-prime and/or paint when needed. Date of purchase: Warranty The manufacturer warrants that there will be no leakage in the concrete structure for a period of ten (10) years from the date of installation. This includes the seal where the two (2) units are joined. We reserve the right to repair a shelter before replacing it. The warranty does not include moisture that may appear from time to time in the form of condensation, commonly due to temperature variations, humidity, etc. Neither does the warranty include water that may enter the structure through the door or ventilator. Small cracks caused by expansion and/or contraction which do not create a leakage or structural problem are not covered by the warranty. This warranty is non-transferrable. Lubricate hinges twice a year. Hinges are not covered under any warranty. Homeowner will be charged for hinge replacements if required. The steel door of your shelter has been painted with a metal primer to prevent rusting, you may wish to re-prime and/or paint when needed.
