Department of Counseling, Leadership & Special Education Missouri State University Counseling Masters Program Application Instructions: In order to be considered for admission to the Missouri State University Counseling Maters degree program, both the Graduate College application and this departmental application must be completed. Application information and form are available at our website: http://education.missouristate.edu/counseling/ Requirements: 1. Fill out and mail in the Graduate College application form (You do not need to do the statement of goals and purpose section) to the MSU Graduate College. This may also be done online at: http://www.missouristate.edu/futurestudents/applynow.aspx 2. Arrange for official transcripts from all previous college coursework (Undergraduate and Graduate) to be sent to the MSU Graduate College. 3. Arrange to take either the GRE (Verbal, Quantitative, Analytical) or the Millers Analogies Test (MAT), and have official score reports sent to the MSU Graduate College. The GRE may be taken at your convenience through the Sylvan Learning Centers, one of which is located in Springfield (Phone: 417I 882-0740; toll free 1-800-300-0740). The MAT is offered at many University or College Counseling/Testing Centers, including the one at MSU (Phone: 417/836-5116, offered up to 3 times a week, based on scheduling) There are also study guides available for both tests, either in Bookstores or on the Internet (hint: search the Web using "GRE Study" or "MAT Study" as keywords). The MAT takes approximately 3 weeks to get results, we strongly encourage you to take it at least 2 months in advance of our deadline. 4. Complete the enclosed Counseling Departmental Application form (Please type or print carefully). Note that to be Certified in Missouri as a School Counselor (Elementary or Secondary) you MUST have a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate, OR complete additional teaching curriculum coursework. Following acceptance of admissions offers, new students will be assigned an advisor and provided with information about enrollment.
