Introduction This document is a program-to-program transfer credit advising guide that facilitates the transfer of Bucks County Community College (Bucks) students who earn an Associate Degree in Information Science and Technology (1102), Computer Science (1103) or Networking Technology (2136) to Drexel University's Computing and Security Technology program (CST). Courses with a grade of "C" or better earned at Bucks will count as transfer credit. All transfer credits must be completed prior to or during the first quarter of study at Drexel. Semester credits are converted by Drexel to quarter credits at the rate of 1.5 quarter credits for every one semester credit. The Bachelor of Science degree in Drexel University's CST program requires completion of 185 quarter credits (123.3 semester credits). In general, students can transfer up to 113 quarter credits (75.3 semester crdits) of the following: A. Up to 42 quarter credits (28 semester credits) of English, Mathematics, Science, Liberal Studies, using courses approved by Drexel. B. Up to 47 quarter credits (31.3 semester credits) of free electives. C. Up to 15 quarter credits (10 semester credits) for Computing Technology courses using industry certifications. The equivalencies of IT certification exams and CST courses can be found at http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~ck47/cert-equiv-table.pdf D. Up to 9 quarter credits (6 semester credits) for Computing Technology courses using courses taken at Bucks. Additional credits may be transferred with the approval of the CST Program Director. An equal number to these additional quarter credits (above 9) must be taken to satisfy free-elective requirements through Computing Technology courses. E. Credits earned through other types of Prior Learning Assessment will be evaluated on an individual basis by the CST Program Director. This document contains three tables (Tables 1, 2, and 3, one for each Bucks program) which show how Bucks individual courses transfer into Drexel's CST program. Table 4 shows several Bucks technical courses that transfer directly as technical CST courses (whose course code starts with "CT"). In cases where the Bucks program specifies "elective", Bucks students may choose to take Bucks courses that transfer as technical CST courses (as shown in Table 4). Bucks students interested in transferring to Goodwin College CST program should meet with a Drexel academic advisor for a preliminary completion of a transfer credit evaluation. To apply to the CST program, students must follow the regular application procedures of the Goodwin College. It is important to note that the Blue-Gold Connection is not available to students interested in the CST Program, as Blue-Gold is only available for full-time, day students. 18:01:11 4/18/09 C:\USR\TC\CSTEC\COLLEGES\BUCKS\bucks-goodwin8.wpd 2/12

Appendix 1 Drexel Notes (10) Maximum of 47 Free Electives credits can be used in the Drexel Program of Study. (11) Bucks Personal Health courses COMM105, PSYC100, and PSYC125 transfer as Drexel Liberal Studies. See Table 5 for Bucks Personal Health courses which transfer as Free Electives. (12) Bucks courses in Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics transfer as Drexel Science courses. (13) Select Bucks CISC courses listed in Table 4 which transfer as Drexel Technology courses. (14) Chose a Bucks course from the list of Cultural Perspectives. (15) Bucks MATH140 and MATH141 also transfer. (16) Transfer of more than 9 quarter credits requires approval of the CST Program Director. An equal number to excess credits (above 9) must be taken to satisfy free elective requirements through Computing Technology courses. For example, if a student transfers 15 quarter credits, then 6 free elective credits must be earned through Computing Technology courses. (17) The Bucks course and a Drexel course are equivalent in the sense that both courses cover the same material. However, the two courses may be different in examples presented, software used, applications and experiments practiced, etc. These differences may be important as these courses are prerequisites to several other CST courses. When registering for these subsequent CST courses, students are advised to communicate with the instructor and explain their circumstances and background. (18) CISC201 is only partially equivalent to CT100 as CT100 follows COMPTIA A+ 2006 objectives. (19) CISC215 is only partially equivalent to CT220 as CT220 uses Oracle 10g. (20) CISC244 is only partially equivalent to CT320 as CT320 uses Server 2003 or later platform.
