Charity Bike Ride 2016 In aid of Sunday 11th September

Join Holmes & Hills Solicitors on our annual Charity Bike Ride, and help us to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Taking place on Sunday 11th September 2016, the event features: Three routes of 11, 26 or 53 miles to choose from Start and finish at our Halstead office on Trinity Street with a complimentary after-ride BBQ for riders Rest and snack stop at Finchingfield Village Hall A local bike shop will be present to assist with repairs and problems (There may be a charge for these services depending on what is required) Riders will set off at 09:30 (53 miles), 10:30 (26 miles) and 11:30 (11 miles) and the BBQ will start at approximately 13:00 Cost to enter All entrance fees will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. Please read the conditions of entry carefully and sign to indicate that you accept these. Upon entering this year s Bike Ride, riders will be provided with a sponsorship form enabling them to raise further money for charity if they so wish.

Conditions of entry 1. The Event Organisers reserve the right to change the time, date and/or venue and format of the Event and to cancel the Event, in whole or in part, without notice or liability to the Participant. 2. To be eligible for the ride, all participants must complete and sign the entry form and pay the fee as specified within this form, whether riding in a team, or as an individual. 3. The Event Registration Form must be completed by a person aged 18 years or over. Participants under the age of 18 years will be allowed to participate in the event with the consent of their parent or legal guardian who must sign the Event Registration Form on behalf of the underage rider(s). Signing is also an acceptance for the actions and consequences of the underage rider. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult AT ALL TIMES. 4. The organisers of the event will do all that is reasonable to ensure that the event is safe, although all riders take part at their own risk. Any slips or a trip, by any participant, is entirely their own fault and by no account are the events management responsible. 5. Each participant, upon signing the registration form, agrees that they are physically and mentally capable of riding the distance they have chosen. If, during the event, they decide to change their route and distance, then all consequences of this action are theirs. 6. Participants should appreciate that cycling can be very strenuous and should be fully aware of their capabilities. Riders shall make sure that their health is in a condition that allows him/her to take part in this event, and consult a doctor if necessary. Participation will be at the participant s own risk. 7. All riders must ensure that the cycle/bike they are riding for the event and all of their equipment is of a suitable standard and state of road worthiness. In particular, the ability to complete long distance riding. 8. Under the terms of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, the organisers of the event cannot be held responsible for injury, loss or damage caused or sustained as a result of taking part in the Holmes & Hills Solicitors Charity Bike Ride. 9. It is the individual rider s responsibility to make a decision regarding whether to ride a section or not. The marking of the route does not necessarily indicate that the trail or road is rideable and the participant is deemed to make their own decision about whether to proceed on bike, foot or not at all. In particular the individual should assess the risks relating to any adverse weather conditions. 10. Participants are advised to look after their valuables. Holmes & Hills Solicitors accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage to your belongings. 11. Each participant will be fully responsible for any fees or costs incurred or arising from an accident either involving or caused by the rider. This includes, but is not exclusive to, fees from Police, Air Ambulance, Fire and Rescue and the Ambulance service. If the situation arises that you are not capable of making the decision to call the emergency services, the rider agrees that a member of Holmes & Hills Solicitors or a member of the public may call for them. In this situation, the rider still accepts the costs and consequences of such actions. 12. Riders must observe the Highway Code at all times, and in particular, they should ride in single file and not in large groups. Please be aware of your fellow cyclists and any other traffic. Please always indicate your intention to stop or change direction. All cyclists must adhere to and obey the Highway Code, local Bylaws and laws of England. They are also bound to follow any instructions they receive from event marshals or officials. 13. It is mandatory that all riders wear a safety approved cycling helmet complying with latest ANSI Z90/4 or SNELL standards. Any rider not wearing a helmet may be disqualified from the event and could be liable for damages if involved in an accident on that basis. The rider must accept this as a condition of entry. Holmes & Hills Solicitors LLP reserves the right to refuse entry to the event to anyone with inappropriate equipment or clothing. 14. All riders should NOT use any mobile or musical devices while riding. Riders are advised to wear bright clothing, suitable foot attire and have their own insurance. 15. Holmes & Hills Solicitors is unable to accept liability for any changes to the course for safety reasons or for any other reasons that are beyond its control. 16. All riders are advised to make provision in advance for mechanical breakdown or punctures. Riders are recommended to carry a puncture repair kit. 17. Riders are advised to carry food and water suitable for the weather conditions and their chosen distance. 18. All riders are encouraged to finish by 1600 hrs. Riders participating in the event will only be checked-back at the finish during opening hours of the event headquarters, which will be from 8am to 5pm. There will be no facilities for riders returning after this time. Riders are advised to return or call the event centre should they decide not to finish the course before the close of the event and report to a member of staff. Not doing so will mean that a search may be organised and the subsequent cost will be billed to the rider. 19. Holmes & Hills Solicitors will not accept liability relating to costs incurred by individuals if the event is cancelled for any reason outside its control including any incidental expenses such as local accommodation and travel. 20. I consent to Holmes & Hills Solicitors contacting me via telephone, letter or email for any matter relating to my participation in this event. 21. Photographs or videos of the ride may be used for promotional and publicity purposes that will be available to the general public. By registering to participate in the ride either on your own behalf or upon behalf of any other rider including those under the age of 16 years, you agree that photographic or video images of you, containing you, or of those under the age of 16 years upon whose behalf you have registered, may be used by the organisers or any promoters of the ride. 22. Holmes & Hills Solicitors reserves the right not to allow a cyclist to participate for various reasons, not limited to: late registration, unsuitable clothing/footwear, unsafe cycling equipment, inappropriate behaviour, unsuitable fitness levels, and health issues. 23. Event entry fees cannot be refunded or transferred under any circumstances.
