Objectives Upon completion of the PowerChart Basics module the end-user will have a basic understanding of: 1. How to Sign-on to PowerChart (PC). 2. Application lay-out and basic functionality. 3. How to properly Log-off PowerChart.
Signing-on to PowerChart Review
1. To open the production environment, double-click the red BIEHR ICON located on the desktop.
2. When the Cernerworks Screen opens, click on PowerChart Prod. 3. Then type in your User Name and Password. 4. When finished click the Ok button. 7
After signing on, a Timeframe selection window will appear. 5. Now click the appropriate Timeframe selection. 6. Then click the OK button. 8
Overview of PowerChart Phase 2: Enhanced View
After signing on, the PowerChart Organizer window appears, click on the Patient List button to open the patient list.
The Patient List is now open. The new format is known as Enhanced View.
Current view Tabs Enhanced view Menu Tab- Click to open Navigator.
The Master Navigator Menu will be replacing the tabs for chart section access. Master Navigator Menu Quick Add buttons

Patient Search...with this.. Remember this guy (patient search)? Well, he has been replaced
1. To find a patient click this Icon to open the Search Engine 2. Type in all or part of the last name, then click on the binoculars.
Even though the Patient Search has a different look, the functionality is identical to the previous version. 3. Click the patient s name in the Search results box. NOTE: Encounters are listed here and the most current will generally be on top. 4. When finished click the Ok button.

Opening a Patient Chart
1. To open the patient s chart double left click the patient name. 2. Then click the appropriate relationship title. 3. When finished click the OK button.
The Patient Demographic Banner
The Patient Demographic Banner is a quick overview of the patient s basic information.
The sections of the Patient s Chart
Once a patients record has been opened, the Master Navigator Menu will be available to select the various sections of the patient record. To show the Master Navigator Menu, click on the Menu Button. To hide the Master Navigator Menu, click on the Push Pin ICON.
Click Each Section Band in the Master Navigator Menu to open a different part of the chart.
Within the Master Navigator Menu, you will see that there are several new chart sections. New sections include: Overview Results review Diagnosis and Problems Activities/Interventions 24 Hour Rounds report 72 Hour Rounds report
The first band to open is Overview. Basic patient information can be retrieved from this section.
This is the Results Review band. It incorporates the Recent Results, Vitals, Lab, Rad, and Assessment tabs from the Phase 1 version.
Flowsheets Basics are seen below. This functionality has not changed from Phase 1. Flowsheet name Clinical Range Bar. Result Categories are listed in the Navigator Results are posted here.
The process for changing the Clinical Range also has not changed with this version. 1. Right-click on the Clinical Range bar 2. Click on Change Search Criteria 4. Click on OK. 3. Change the search Criteria as desired.
This is the Diagnosis and Problems section. If the provider writes an order for a diagnosis, the floor/unit clerical staff can enter it into the system.
All orders will now be entered into PowerChart. This is the Orders section where nursing and clerical staff will enter orders
Home Medications will also be documented via the Orders section as well.
Logging-off PowerChart
1.To Sign-off the application while in the patient s chart, always leave through the Exit door. Do Not use the X in the upper right hand corner. 2. If this box appears, This response should be selected 3. When finished, click the Yes button.
