2016 Ontario Skaters PROMOTIONAL CONTEST ORDER/INSTRUCTION PACKAGE 2015 Grand Prize Winner Randy & Kathy Jefferies Will one of your tickets be this year s Grand Prize Winning Ticket? ORDER TODAY! Skate Canada - Central Ontario 111 Snidercroft Road, Unit A Concord, Ontario L4K 2J8 Telephone: (905) 760-9100, x228 or (877) 267-0081, x228 Fax: (905) 760-9104 Attention: Susan Cash, Financial Accountant susan@skatecanada-centralontario.com

ONTARIO SKATERS PROMOTIONAL CONTEST INTRODUCTION A Great Fundraising tool! No overhead to store at your club or team! A $2.00 ticket provides a chance for your members to win great valuable prizes! 55 percent of every ticket sold stays with your club or team! Distribute at club or team registration and start raising money today! $270,000 raised in last 5 years by COS clubs and teams which stayed with COS clubs and teams! The money that COS receives goes directly to the Skaters Trust fund and is paid out in bursaries that support and reward skaters across our section. This year marks the 27 th year for the ONTARIO SKATERS' PROMOTIONAL CONTEST and marks the eighth year since Skate Canada Central Ontario has participated in the program. This contest is a wonderful opportunity for skaters, teams and clubs throughout Ontario to fundraise and enhance public awareness of the sport of figure skating in their respective communities. We want to hear from you! We want everyone to please return the order form attached as the last page of this document by July 24, 2015 even if you do not wish to participate this year. Assistance to your club will be provided through the detailed information provided in this booklet and by personal contact with the Skate Canada Central Ontario Promotional Contest organizer, COS Financial Accountant, Susan Cash (susan@skatecanada-centralontario.com; [905] 760-9100, x228. This is an Ontario-wide fundraiser, with approximately $6.00 from each book sold covering the cost of promotional contest tickets, prizes and promotion materials. You pay COS for our share of the proceeds ONLY AFTER your club or team has collected the ticket revenue. For many clubs, the funds earned from the Ontario Skaters Promotional Contest are most valuable in offsetting costly expenses such as ice fees or acquiring special equipment. - 2 -

GENERAL INFORMATION WHAT IS IT? A promotional contest draw with tickets distributed in Ontario. There are 20 tickets per book. The suggested donation is $2.00 per ticket. Value of the book is $40.00. 1) CLUB SHARE = $22.00 per book 2) SECTION Skater s Trust Fund = $12.00 per book 3) Administration (Tickets, Prizes, etc) = $ 6.00 per book PERIOD FOR DONATIONS: To enable you to reach all of your membership (early and new year registrations), the selling period will be mid-august, 2015 to mid-february, 2016. If your club does not have any further registrations after December 15 th you may then submit your Promotional Contest ticket stubs and cheque to the Skate Canada Central Ontario office, provided that you are satisfied that your sales are complete. When ordering your contest books, please try to accurately forecast your needs. We understand the challenge of estimating sales; therefore, your club may return unsold books amounting to 15% or less of your order without incurring any costs. However, printing costs will be charged if your unsold returns are more than 15% of your order.. A return of 15% or less of tickets ordered, COS covers the cost of ticket printing for ALL TICKETS ORDERED by the club. A return of 16%-29% of tickets ordered, the CLUB pays the cost of ticket printing for ALL UNSOLD TICKETS ordered by the club at a cost of $6.00 per unsold book. A return of 30% or more of tickets ordered, the CLUB covers the printing costs of ALL TICKETS ORDERED by the club at a cost of $6.00 per book. NOTE: ALL ticket stubs and money must be returned to the Skate Canada Central Ontario office absolutely no later than February 23, 2016 to enable COS enough time for the accounting process and to forward all sold tickets to the prize draw. - 3 -

HOW DOES THE CONTEST WORK? Club/Team commits to a number of books to distribute and the club is responsible for these books. The most successful clubs participating in this program distribute the books at registration and receive the money upfront from their members. The club executive should decide on how many books per member. Those clubs that have a distribution plan and make this program a mandatory component of their sponsorship plan or registration are the ones that have been the most successful in raising money. Club/Team completes the attached order form and forwards it to the Skate Canada Central Ontario office by July 24, 2015 for processing. Ticket books will be shipped free of charge to the address you provide during the month of August. Club/Team distributes the books to its membership and records how and to whom they were distributed (including serial numbers listed on the cover of each book). Skater/parent is responsible to return their ticket stubs and money to the club s Fundraising Chairperson. Club/Team fills out the reconciliation form (attached) recording how many books were distributed and returned. Lost books are assumed to be sold. Club/Team then submits the reconciliation form and ticket stubs along with a cheque payable to SKATE CANADA CENTRAL ONTARIO for $18.00 per sold or partially sold booklet by February 23, 2016. (see page #1 for the COS address). WHAT TO DO: Do not overestimate your order! Promote this program to your membership explaining that $22 from every book of tickets sold directly benefits your club! The monies raised stay in your club. The monies generated by COS in this contest provide DIRECT ATHLETE FUNDING to Skate Canada - Central Ontario skaters skaters who may be your club members. Target a start date to distribute your books. The books you have ordered will be delivered to your club by mid-august. - 4 -

Flyers will be provided to post in your club for the promotion of this program. Once you have received your tickets, we suggest that you attach the books to your registration as a fundraiser. This is an excellent way to distribute the books. Keep records as to who has which book. When stubs and monies are returned, complete the required information on the reconciliation sheet (attached) and forward a copy with your cheque to Skate Canada Central Ontario. Please ensure that totals balance with your order. If you underestimated your demand, please contact Skate Canada Central Ontario to arrange for additional books. ADDITIONAL BOOKLETS CAN BE ORDERED EARLY IN THE CONTEST! CONTACT SUSAN CASH THE COS OFFICE FOR DETAILS. WHAT NOT TO DO: Don t wait to collect the cash from your membership until after the tickets are sold. Collect the cash upfront. Don't use more than one book at a time. Remember, if only one ticket is used in the book, the club is responsible for submitting $18.00 to the COS office. Also, if a book is lost, it is considered sold and you are responsible to remit the $18.00 donation to Skate Canada Central Ontario. Allow sufficient time to collect your books and submit them to COS. PRIZES MAIN DRAW: The random draw from eligible entries will take place at the Skate Ontario Championships held in the Northern Ontario Section, March 2016. Draw date will be noted on the tickets and 13 prizes will be awarded. Prizes are expected to be similar to those awarded in 2015. - 5 -

2016 Prizes: 1 - First Prize: 2016 Ford Mustang (est. Value $30,000) 1 - Second Prize: 60 Flat Panel Entertainment System (est. Value $5,000) 1 - Third Prize: $3,500.00 Travel Certificate 5 - Fourth Prizes: Win 1 of 5 Apple MacBook Air 13 computers with computer bag 5 - Fifth Prizes: Win 1 of 5 Apple ipad Mini s with Retina 16GB WiFi NEXT STEP: We recommend that you fax, scan and email or mail your completed Promotional Contest Order Form to the Skate Canada Central Ontario office by July 24, 2015 to ensure priority ordering for you. Skate Canada Central Ontario would like to thank you for your continued support. We are planning to have the books ready for pick-up at the Section Office, or delivered, on or about August 14, 2015. Why Should You Participate? How many of you have lined up at a convenience store on the day of a sizeable lottery draw? The long wait indicates that gaming is popular. In addition to the popularity of this fundraising venture, there is no inventory that needs to be stored (like with chocolates or popcorn). Plus, the prizes listed above are much more valuable than any chocolate or popcorn program. Club participation speaks for itself. Since Skate Canada Central Ontario returned to this program, one club has netted over $74,000 as a result of this promotional contest. Other clubs have generated in the neighbourhood of $3,000 apiece through modest involvement in the program. So, what s stopping your club? - 6 -
