HAAPSALU UKSETEHASE AS 19.15.2015 version 1 Masti tee 8, 90401 Uuemõisa, Ridala vald, Lääne maakond, Estonia tel: +372 47 20 800, fax: +372 47 20 803, www.uksetehas.ee, info@uksetehas.ee Fire- and soundproof door EI30/Rw40dB installation guide This product is designed to ensure human safety and the guide should be read carefully before installation. Person responsible for the construction works must ensure that the requirements set out in this guide are complied with. Signed installation guide must be available at all times and shall be later added to the as-built construction drawings. Order no. Client: Person responsible (name, signature) Door marking: Installation company: Installer (name, signature) Date: Upon delivery: Check that the specification and quantity of the goods complies with the accompanying document (invoice). Certified doors have corresponding markings attached to the hinge side at the height of approx. 1700 mm. Notices and complaints should be filed to the dealer in 7 days after the receipt of goods. Door sets are always delivered assembled and packaged in polyethylene plastic in order to protect the products against dirt and possible mechanical damages during transport and handling. Longer sides of the door frame are additionally protected with corrugated millboard boxes. The edge of one of the boxes includes: production order number; client ID; production order pos. no.; door set dimensions or module marking, e.g. M10x21; door set handedness. The transport package is not suitable for long-term storage of products at the worksite. Damages that occurred during transport must be recorded on the delivery note of the transport company upon receipt of goods. Installation of a defective or damaged product without manufacturer's approval is not allowed! Door manufacturer does not compensate additional costs caused by the installation of damaged products.

Storage before installation The door is packaged in a transport package that protects the door set only during transport and handling. Upon manual handling it should be considered that the weight of larger door sets may exceed 70 kg. Avoid dropping the door set, especially on the corner. Doors must be stored in dry and ventilated conditions, storing in external conditions is not allowed! Longer storage time may damage the product since ventilation under the plastic foil is insufficient and moisture will start to condensate. Doors shall be stored in near vertical upright position on properly levelled battens at least 10 cm above the ground or laid flat on pallets on a flat surface. Doors are made of timber materials that expand upon contact with moisture and on the worst case, it can cause cracks in the finishing layer and break the glue line. Veneered doorsets should be protected against direct sunlight as UV-radiation will cause fading off the shade. Manufacturer will not take responsibility for moisture damages that are caused by incorrect storage or the active or finished processes at the worksite (casting, tiling, finishing etc.). Installation of doors Operating gaps between the door-leaf and frame have been planned to ensure the performance characteristics of firedoors. As a result the door requires careful installation and we strongly recommend that it should be done by experienced installation team. Manufacturer is not responsible for flaws caused by incorrect installation and possible inconveniences upon exploitation. Door leaf or frame should not be treated or changed in any way! Door set should be installed as follows: 1. Remove the door carefully from the package, then detach the door leaf from the frame by lifting the door leaf off the hinge pins. Rest the door leaf steadily against the wall, but before that, place pieces of corrugated millboard between lower edge of the door leaf and the floor and upper edge of the door leaf and the wall in order to avoid damaging the door leaf or the wall. Make sure the fire door aperture is 20-30 mm larger than the external dimensions of the door frame, maximum allowed gap on the sides is 20 mm and on top 30 mm. In case the space that requires caulking is larger, the aperture needs to be adjusted. 2. Check that the surface under the threshold is smooth and level. Support the empty space under the threshold with wedges and wooden blocks, if necessary, to avoid possible deflection when stepped on. NEVER PLACE THE DOOR FRAME DIRECTLY ON CONCRETE FLOOR! Use WATERPROOFING MATERIALS for the entire width of the frame before lifting the frame into the aperture. 3. Lift the frame into the aperture in vertical position and secure it with wedges at the top and bottom corners to ensure a right angle (see figure 1). The door aperture must be dry! 4. Start fastening the door frame at the lower hinge of the hinge side door frame. Drill a hole in the wall for the dowel through the mounting hole in the door frame, if necessary. Place additional wedges or a support block above the mounting hole (behind the lower hinge) and fasten the frame securely with screws Ø6*90/120 mm, see figure 1A. Fasteners must be chosen according to the wall type (concrete, brick, lightweight block, timber etc.). Consult a dealer of fasteners if necessary. Depth of the screw connections in the wall must be at least 40 mm. It is recommended to use special adjustable frame fixing anchors Ø6*120 mm

(JAMO Schraube Typ 4, AW 30, galvanized steel, manufactured by Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG) for the installation. In case the gap between the wall and the door frame is 10 mm or smaller, it is allowed to use smaller screws Ø6*90 mm for the installation. It is allowed to use plastic or metal dowels with minimum dimensions of Ø8*40 mm according to the wall type. 5. Then place additional wedges or a support block under the upper mounting hole (behind the upper hinge). Check again, using a long spirit level, that the hinge side door frame is in vertical position and fasten, see figure 1B. 6. Repeat this procedure with the rest of the mounting holes in the hinge side door frame. Make sure the door frame is installed straight and all the sides are level, then tighten the screws. If special adjustable frame fixing anchors are used for fastening the door frame, it is allowed to remove wedges behind a few mounting holes, but not behind the external corners or upper/lower hinge, see figure 1). In order to ensure safety, wedges and a support block have to placed behind the striker plate as well. 7. Use wedges and support and fasten the lock side door frame, while checking its vertical position from time to time with a long spirit level. Check that the doorway is equally wide and adjust with screws and wedges, if necessary. Install the door leaf in the frame. Check that the door leaf opens and closes freely and make adjustments to the lock side door frame, if necessary, so the front surfaces of the door leaf and the frame are always flush the entire height of the frame. (After installation the operation of the latch and pressure on the sealing strips can be slightly adjusted with the striker plate). 8. Check that the gaps between the door leaf and the door frame are equal and within the following limits: 1.5-4 mm at the hinge side, 1.5-3 mm at the lock side, 1.5-4 mm at the header and 3-4 mm at the threshold. (Fine adjustment of the gaps is done after the installation and sealing of the frame has been completed, see section "Adjustment of hinges" below). You should also check that there are no gaps between the door frames and the header/threshold. Tighten the corner wedges if necessary. 9. Check that the diagonals are equal and the door frames in vertical position, then tighten the lock side fastening screws securely. 10. Mounting holes are covered with plastic plugs (included). 11. The space between the door frame and the wall is caulked with rockwool (A2-s1, d0), fireproof polyurethane foam (Soudafoam FR or analogue) and on the room side with fireproof acrylic sealant (Soudal Firecryl or analogue), see figure 2. Caulking with sealant must be done precisely because even the smallest defect lowers the sound insulation quality. Recommended layer thickness is 10-20 mm. Make sure the door frame does not curve due to excessive use of caulking materials. 12. The space is covered with suitable architraves at both sides, if necessary, min thickness 12 mm. Keep in mind: Fire- and soundproof doors are heavy and they must be handled or installed carefully. Door leaf and frame include special silicone sealing strips that apply counter pressure and as a result the door may not close properly each time. Check latching of the bolt manually.

Using masking tape and film on doors When finishing the surfaces adjacent to the door it may be necessary to cover the door leaf and the frame with masking film. When taping, observe the following: - Use tapes recommended by the paint manufacturer. - Follow the instructions of the tape manufacturer. - Tape that is used in places that could be affected by direct sunlight, should be UV resistant. - Surfaces that require taping must be clean and dry. - Remove the tape as soon as possible, not later than 3-4 days. Softeners that are used for improving the adhesive property of the masking tape may ruin the finishing. In case of doubt about the suitability of the tape, try it on a smaller surface that is out of sight. Paint manufacturer recommends the following tapes: Tesa Blå 4308, Scotch Blue 2080 60 Day, Scotch Blue 2090 14 Day. Manufacturer shall not take responsibility for defects, tears in the veneer layer, colour changes in the finishing layer or disintegration of the finishing layer caused by incorrect use of the tapes. Adjustment of hinges Door hinge N3248-110 TMKSS allows vertical and horizontal adjustment Adjusting the door leaf up and down, see figure 3. Remove the protective plug 1 from one of the hinges (5 mm Allen key). By turning the hex bolt 2 (with 5 mm Allen key) under the cap clockwise, the door leaf moves up (one turn lifts the door leaf 1 mm), turning it anti-clockwise moves the door leaf down. If the door leaf is at the desired height, repeat these steps with other hinges, so the weight of the door is divided evenly between hinges. Slightly tighten the upper protective plugs 1. Adjusting the gaps on the door sides, see figure 3. Open the door leaf so you can freely access the fastening screws of the frame side hinges. Loosen the fastening screws 3 of the middle hinge with a cross-head screwdriver about 1.5 turns. Turn the adjustment bolts 4 (4 mm Allen key) clockwise, which increases the gap on the hinge side (one full turn moves the door leaf approx. 2 mm). Turn the adjustment bolts 4 to the same depth, tighten the fastening screws 3 securely. Make the same adjustments to the upper hinge, if necessary. It is important that the axis of the middle hinge is aligned with the axis of the upper and lower hinge. Finally tighten the fastening screws 3 of all the hinges once more. Keep in mind: Adjustment of hinges adjusts the position of the door leaf in relation to the frame (gaps). Adjustment does not allow straightening incorrectly installed door frame. Door hinges should be lubricated twice a year to improve their performance and increase their working life. Lock maintenance To ensure flawless performance lubricate all the moving parts with lock lubricant at least once a year. Check that the bolts of the handle, lock body and keyhole are tightly secured. Remember that

the locks engage only when the doors are properly closed. Since the external door includes double sealing strips, latching of the bolt must be checked manually by pulling or pushing the door leaf. Locking device Fire door must be equipped with a locking device that according to the manufacturer's specifications complies with the door`s place of use and parameters (width, weight) regarding its closing force and other properties and ensures that the door closes properly. Door closers must meet the harmonised standard EN 1154 "Window and door accessories. Controlled door closing devices. Requirements and test methods" and have the respective CE-marking. Third number of the door closer's numerical code indicates closing force of the door closer in relation to the door leaf weight. The number should be at least 4, which means it is suitable for closing a door that weighs up to 80 kg. Fourth number of the door closer's numerical code characterises fire integrity of the closer: - class 0: not suitable for fire doors; - class 1: suitable for fire doors. Closing device should prevent fixing the door in opened position or disconnecting it from the door leaf without using tools. In case of a double door with hinges, where only one side is constantly opened and the other side is kept latched, the closing device should be installed only on the active door leaf. Closing device is not required for apartment doors as well as maintenance doors and doors of technical rooms that are usually kept locked. Manufacturer shall retain the right to make changes.
