OBJECTIVES Industry-Academia Research networks involving both the commercial and non-commercial sectors to: Foster co-operation between non-commercial research organisations & commercial enterprises based on joint research projects Promotes innovation and knowledge transfer Stimulate long-term collaboration between sectors through secondment of researchers between the public & private research domains Provide diverse career possibilities & research experience for researchers, knowledge sharing/exchange 4

Definitions Industry-Academia Participants: full network partners, signatories to the grant agreement. Second staff (mandatory) and optionally recruit ERs. Associated Partners: No associated partners in IAPP Early Stage Researcher (ESR): For secondment only. At the time of secondment, must be in the first 4 years of their research careers (full-time equivalent), and with no doctoral degree awarded yet Experienced Researcher (ER): For secondment or recruitment. At the time of secondmet (or recruitment), doctoral degree (or at least 4 years research experience). Two salary categories based on experience: 4-10 and >10 years of research experience (full-time equivalent) Industry/Enterprises: Private sector is understood to comprise organisations gaining the majority of their revenue (>50%) through competitive means with exposure to commercial markets 5

Industry-Academia PARTICIPANT rules: Minimum: 1 Industry/enterprise (commercial) and 1 non-commercial participant Located in at least 2 different MS/AC Additional participants from anywhere in world (any sector) Compulsory Secondment of staff (ESR, ER) Majority of support in IAPP - always inter-sector Up to 30% for secondments within same country Periods of 2-24 months can be split stay Also technical staff (must be justified in the proposal) Staff member min 12 months prior to secondment + reintegration afterwards Optional recruitment of experienced researchers (ER) Periods of 12-24 months MC Mobility rule applies Not substitute for secondment Minimum 50% of total person months: Secondment 6

IAPP Financial regime Category 1: Monthly Living Allowance - 38,000 gross salary per ESR / year x country coefficient (secondment only) - 58,500 gross salary per ER / year x country coefficient (4-10 years) (sec. or recruit) - 87,500 gross salary per ER / year x country coefficient (> 10 years) (sec. or recruit) Category 2: Mobility Allowance - 1,000 700 (family or not) per researcher month x country coefficient - Flat-rate cost category Category 3: Contribution to Training & Research Costs - 1,800 per researcher month - Flat-rate cost category Category 4: Management Activities - Maximum 10% of total EU contribution - Real cost category Category 5: Overheads - 10% of direct costs - Flat-rate cost category Category 6: Small equipmnet - SMEs only: 10% of the contribution to that partner (real cost) Industry-Academia 9
