5 MSC INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP 2014 INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP (IF) DEADLINE: September 11 th 2014 at 17:00:00 (Brussels local time) 2 types of Individual Fellowships EUROPEAN FELLOWSHIP -EFs (+ panels for Career Restart CAR and Reintegration RI). -Held in EU Member States or Associated Countries - For experienced researchers either coming to Eu or AC or moving within Eu or AC -Up to 2 years GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP - GFs - -Secondment outside Europe or Associated countries with a mandatory one-year return period -For experienced researchers based in the EU or AC -Up to 2 years + 1 of return

6 MSC INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP 2014 HOW DOES IT WORK? EUROPEAN FELLOWSHIP -EFs (+ panels for Career Restart CAR and Reintegration RI). - 1 experienced researcher + A HOST LOCATED IN A MS or AC (WITH AN INTERNAL SUPERVISOR) GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP - GFs - 1 experienced researcher + A HOST LOCATED IN A MS or AC (return phase) + a HOST located in a third country (outgoing phase)_ WITH 2 INTERNAL SUPERVISORS) PAY attention to the MOBILITY RULE! Each researcher can submit only one proposal

7 DEFINITIONS 1 EXPERIENCED RESEARCHER: must, at the time of the relevant deadline for submission of proposals (11/09/2014), be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT RESEARCH EXPERIENCE: from the date when a researcher obtained the degree which would formally entitle him or her to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the researcher is recruited or seconded, irrespective of whether or not a doctorate is or was ever envisaged. THE BENEFICIARY: the legal entity acting as host organization established in a European Union Member State (MS) or Associated Country (AC) with which the REA will sign the grant agreement. Academic or non academic sector COUNTRIES: MEMBER STATES - The EU member states (MS) ASSOCIATED COUNTRIES contributing to the framework programme budget (AC) The list: THIRD COUNTRIES - not Member States, candidate or associated countries (TC).

8 DEFINITIONS 2 SUPERVISOR: the scientist appointed at the host organisation to supervise the researcher during SUPERVISOR: the scientist appointed at the host organisation to supervise the researcher during the whole duration of the action. For the University of Trento he/she should be a Professor, an assistant professor, or a fixed-term assistant professor if, in case of approval, his/her contract lasts until the end of the project THE PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS: do not sign the Grant Agreement and do not employ the researchers within the action. Partner organisations provide additional training and host researchers during secondments. MOBILITY RULE: the researcher must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals (Sept 11 th 2014). Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account. In CAR and RI panels: the researcher must not have resided or carried out the main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the host organisation for more than 3 years in the 5 years immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals (Sept 11 th 2014). 9 MSC INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP 2014 EUROPEAN FELLOWSHIPS Secondments in EFs are optional and can be a single period or divided into shorter mobility periods. They must be mentioned in part B. Only secondment in MS or AC are allowed. Long-term residents are researchers who spent a period of full-time research activity of at least 5 consecutive (without breaks in research) years in one or more Member States or Associated Countries

30 PART A2 ELIGIBLE RESEARCHERS If a researcher wants to apply together with the Università degli Studi di Trento, he/she must fill in and sign a self-declaration attesting the possession of the eligibility criteria by using an internal form. The declaration must be submitted to the Divisione Supporto alla Ricerca within August 21st 2014(3 weeks before the deadline), by post or fax duly filled in and signed and sent together with a copy of a valid ID or passport. 32 EC CONTRIBUTION * A basic, gross amount for the benefit of the researcher to be paid to the researcher in monthly instalments. This amount is then adjusted through the application of a correction coefficient for the cost of living according to the country in which the host organisation is located. The adjusted amount will not change in case of secondments to a partner organisation in another MS or AC, it will be considered in GFs in the outgoing phase in a TC.
