To support athletes attending the Perth Track, Athletics Australia and Tourism Western Australia are providing additional prize money to support athletes travelling to the Perth Track. In addition to the regular prize money provided to athletes finishing 1 st, 2 nd or 3 rd, any interstate athlete finishing between 4 th and 6 th in their event (in a final or A race) will receive at least $200 in prize money to assist with the costs of travelling to Perth. * *This money is not available to athletes already funded by Athletics Australia. Travel Funding Athletics Australia will be providing significant travel funding to athletes attending Australian Athletics Series Competitions in 2014. This will be in the order of $180,000. There are two main components to the Athletics Australia travel funding system: 1. Australian Athletics Event Grid: This is a grid of events that Athletics Australia has designated it will fund for travel. Some meets on the grid, such as Newcastle, Brisbane and Hobart may have additional events on the program. Athletes and coaches should check the full event list for each of these meets as published on the Athletics Australia website, or with the individual meet. 2. Travel Funding This is the list of athletes who will receive travel funding from Athletics Australia to Australian Athletics Tour meets where their specific event appears on the Australian Athletics Tour Event Grid. The travel funding list will be a dynamic one; athletes will be added or dropped from the list based on form.
Athletes who reach this level of funding will be provided with the following; Return economy airfare from their home base One nights accommodation at the meet hotel Ground transport from the hotel to the meet hotel and return and ground transport from the meet hotel to the venue (if applicable) and return General Conditions Athlete s performances must be achieved during the 2013 and/or 2014 ranking period. Wind assisted performances will not be included. Any athlete that achieves a performance equal or better than the Travel Funding Standard, at any time over the current season, and had not already met the standard, will automatically be added to the travel list. Any athlete who self-funds to an interstate* meet, and achieves the Athletics Australia Travel Funding Standard in a competition (and event) on the travel funding grid, will have their return economy airfare refunded (up to $300 return). To facilitate this they will need to produce a receipt of their flight. Interstate does not include Canberra to Sydney/Newcastle It is a requirement of travel funding that each athlete nominate for the competition via the AA online nomination system. Athletes who do not nominate risk not being provided funding.
