The minimum shell thickness shall be four (4) inches / gunite, five (5) inches / shotcrete, and six (6) inches / handstacked. Foundations for deck supporting pool cages shall be 12 x 12 w/ 2-#5 for monolithic slabs and 8 x 16 w/ 2#5 for stemwall foundations. Article XV (15) SAFETY FEATURES 15.1 Handhold,: An inground residential pool shall be provided with a handhold around its perimeter in areas where depths exceed 3 feet six inches(1.0668 in). Handholds shall be provided no farther apart than 4 feet (1.2192 m) to include but not be limited to, any one (1) or a combination of items listed in Articles 15.1.1 through 15.1.3 15.1.1 Coping, ledge, or deck along the immediate top edge of the pool which provides a slip-resisting surface of at least 4 inches (102 mm) minimum horizontal width and located at or not more than 12 inches (305 mm) above the waterline: or, 15.1.2 Ladder, stairs, or seat ledges; or, 15.1.3 A secured rope or railing placed at or no more than 12 inches (305 mm) above the waterline.
