Kindle Publishing Overview Lesson Overview In this lesson, I m going to give you a brief overview of how Kindle publishing works and the opportunity that it provides to make money online. I recommend that you go through the video that comes with this lesson to have the visual experience of understanding how making money on Kindle works. I am sure you are already familiar with Amazon; perhaps you have already shopped here before. Amazon is the number one online retailer in the entire world; they are a multi-billion dollar company and have millions of users that go to Amazon every single day to buy stuff. As you probably already know, Amazon offers a variety of different types of products for sale. Amazon is known for selling books, both printed and digital. The K Money Mastery 2.0 method is focused on publishing and selling digital books, not printed books. It s important not to get the two mixed up. Amazon has a reader that they sell called Kindle, which is a hand-held device that easily allows someone to access the Amazon Kindle Store to download and read digital books within seconds. The Amazon Kindle Store lists digital books only (also known as Kindle books), which people can easily download to their computer, Kindle reader, or tablet. You don t need to own a Kindle device to be able to download or read a digital book from the Kindle Store - in fact, Amazon provides many free e-readers that can be downloaded to your computer to allow you to read any of the books in their store. The reason why making money with Kindle is such a fantastic opportunity is because more and more people are switching to reading digital rather than printed books. Kindle books. This means there has become a growing demand for digital books and it isn t slowing down. When someone wants to buy a Kindle book, they will either go to the Amazon website and select the Kindle Store, and then do a search for specific keywords for the type of book that they re searching for. Alternatively, if they have a Kindle reader, they can easily do a search on the Kindle Store using the same process. If there is a book in the Kindle Store that is relevant to what the person is searching for, has a captivating title and cover with positive reviews, the person can choose to buy the book instantly. All they have to do is click the buy now button which will instantly give them access to the book within seconds, while charging their credit card that Amazon has on file. It has been reported that Amazon now has over 300 million credit cards in their system, which makes it extremely easy for customers to purchase Kindle books. Customers do not have to enter their credit card details every time they want to buy - in fact, most of the purchases on Amazon are impulse buys. Our job with making money with Kindle is to provide people affordable Kindle books that meet the needs of what they are searching for, while adding value to their life. How To Use Amazon In this K Money Mastery 2.0 program I am going to show you how to leverage and tap into the power of Amazon and their millions of users and customers, to be able to publish books in the Kindle Store and make money from them. Now I want you to think of Amazon as kind of like a search engine, similar to Google, Yahoo or Bing, but when people go to these search engines people are searching for free information. They will go straight to the search bar at the top of the page and type in whatever it is they are searching for. In the example of Kindle books, people are going to use the dropdown list and select Kindle Store to search for specific books. For example weight loss. You start by typing in a primary keyword or phrase for what you are looking for, right in the search bar. I will show you a book that I published in the first K Money Mastery 2015 All Rights Reserved Page 3
course. Right now you are actually going through K Money Mastery 2.0, which is a totally brand new and updated program to K Money Mastery. If someone is struggling with gambling addiction they would type into the Amazon search bar gambling addiction. The first result that comes up when I do this search is called The Gambling Addiction Cure which is a book I actually published. The first thing I want to point out is the number of results that you get when you search for the keyword gambling addiction in the Kindle Store. You will see that there are 285 results which gives you an idea of how many books are currently available. When people do this search they are primarily going to look at the top books that show up in their search results. They might look at anywhere between the first 2 to 6 books. Very few people are going to actually scroll to the bottom of the page and then click through to the last page of results. 2015 All Rights Reserved Page 5
In particular people are going to look at the cover of the book, the title of the book, the number and quality of reviews and finally the price. Now based on those factors they are going to decide on whether or not they are going to buy the book. Amazon has recently just added this cool feature, Buy now with 1-Click which shows up on the search page. So if people want the book they can click the button, and as Amazon has people s credit cards already stored on their website, you don t have to enter your credit card over and over again when you want to buy something. Amazon Best Seller Rank Now the key things I am going to show you in the K Money Mastery 2.0 program is how to get your book written and published, get the cover made, come up with a title; get reviews and how to price your book. One of the critical factors is how to rank your book, and be at the top of the list for its keyword. In summary the power of this system is being able to rank at the top of the search results for your chosen keyword. 2015 All Rights Reserved Page 6
Using My Book As An Example Now I want to give you a bit more of an overview using the book I have published, The Gambling Addiction Cure. The first thing that stands out and grabs people s attention is the cover. The cover has to be really good so that when people see it, they immediately go I want that book. Let s face it, people do judge books by their cover. 2015 All Rights Reserved Page 7
The next important thing is the title, especially having the keyword in the title. You will notice in my book that the keyword is at the start of my title. I also have other keywords in my title so that my book will show up for all these other keywords as well. So the more words in my title, the more exposure my book will get. 2015 All Rights Reserved Page 8
Next is your author name. You my notice that I use the pen name Michael Johnson and the reason for that is I don t want my own personal name associated with a book that I personally didn t write. I also like to use a different name for different markets and niches that I am in, because I don t want people that are going through this program to know every single book I have written. I found in the original K Money Mastery, that some people copied what I did and now they are effectively competing against me. The next really important piece is the reviews and you will see I have 37 customer reviews with an overall average of 4.5 stars, which is very good. Obviously the more reviews you have and the better the quality of them, the more sales you are going to get. The next thing you will see is the price of the book. Now I don t want you to pay too much attention to the price of my book, as Amazon automatically changes the price depending on what country you are in. As I am in Canada they have factored in the exchange rate, which is why it is not showing up as $2.99, as it would in the US. You can price your book as low as $0.99 and Amazon will pay you a royalty based on that price. Now if your book is priced at $0.99, they will pay you a 35% royalty. There is an optimal range that Amazon want you to publish your books in and that is anywhere from $2.99 up to $9.99. When you price your book in this range, they will pay you a 70% royalty. Next is the length of the book and you will see mine is 17 pages, which is relatively short, but that s actually what sells really well on Kindle. People often have the misconception that a book has to be hundreds of pages and that s not necessarily true. You want to make sure the number of pages reflects the price of the book. A lot of people don t want to have to consume a 200-page book that s going to take them over a month to read. 2015 All Rights Reserved Page 9
I do recommend a book having between 20-50 pages, but at the same time you will also want to update and improve your book over a period of time, so more pages may be added later. Now that s one of the great things about Kindle publishing, is that it s very easy and quick to be able to add more content and improve your Kindle book so it can be the best it can be. If someone wants to buy this book, they just have to go over to the right and click Buy now with 1-Click. Like I mentioned before, Amazon already has people s credit card details stored on file so once they press the button they will be billed and charged for it right away and Amazon will pay you the royalty of this book. 2015 All Rights Reserved Page 10
Scrolling a little further down the page, you will see that my book comes in other formats. In this example I also have an Audible version that people can buy as well. Even further down the page you will see the book s description. Now that s another core component of the book and will give people more information as to what the book is about and it will help convince them to buy your book. 2015 All Rights Reserved Page 11
The next section is called Product Details. One key piece of information here is the Amazon Best Sellers Rank. Amazon gives every book in their system a rank, so the higher your book is ranked, the more your book is selling. You will also see other categories where your book is ranked. For example my book is ranked number 2 in the category of Roulette. Amazon customer reviews are obviously very important in terms of selling a book. The more reviews a book has the better, as well as the better quality the reviews are is also very important. If you start to get some negative reviews, which is very natural, you want to look at improving the quality of the book. Use these negative reviews as feedback to make your book better and better. Hopefully this has given you a clear understanding of how Kindle publishing works. Basically the method I am going to reveal to you is how to do everything I just showed you in an inexpensive way but also ensure that it is a high quality book that will sell on Kindle. The power of this program is going through the process to generate a number of books that provides you a recurring passive income month after month.
