Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are. ~Chinese Proverb
Wat buig jy jou neer, o my siel, en is onrustig in my? Hoop op God, want ek sal Hom nog loof die verlossing van sy aangesig! Ps. 42: 6
My hart is deurwond in my binneste. Ps. 109: 22 (b)
We live longer than our forefathers; but we suffer more from a thousand artificial anxieties and cares. They fatigued only the muscles, we exhaust the finer strength of the nerves. ~Edward George Bulwer-Lytton
Ek vertrou op God, ek vrees nie; wat kan n mens aan my doen? Ps. 56: 12
Stress is nothing more than a socially acceptable form of mental illness. ~Richard Carlson
One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important. - Bertrand Russell
Toe ek benoud was, het ek die Here aangeroep, en ek het geroep tot my God; en uit sy paleis het Hy my stem gehoor, en my hulpgeroep was in sy ore. II Sam. 22: 7
I spend a lot of time worrying about failure. I have a sneaking suspicion that this gnawing concern infringes on my life way more than actually falling on my face ever would. Elise G
Verslap my pas, Here. Maak my woeste hartklop stadiger, my raserige kop stiller.
Verslap my pas, Here. (Frieda van den Heever)
Pain is a relatively objective, physical phenomenon; suffering is our psychological resistance to what happens. Events may create physical pain, but they do not in themselves create suffering. Resistance creates suffering. Stress happens when your mind resists what is... The only problem in your life is your mind's resistance to life as it unfolds. Dan Millman
Teach us to care and not to care. Teach us to sit still. T.S. Eliot
Self Portrait It doesn't interest me if there is one God Or many gods. I want to know if you belong -- or feel abandoned; If you know despair Or can see it in others. I want to know If you are prepared to live in the world With its harsh need to change you; If you can look back with firm eyes Saying "this is where I stand."
I want to know if you know how to melt Into that fierce heat of living Falling toward the center of your longing. I want to know if you are willing To live day by day With the consequence of love And the bitter unwanted passion Of your sure defeat. I have been told In that fierce embrace Even the gods Speak of God. David Whyte (Fire in the Earth)
He will walk with me In heavenly love abiding No change my heart shall fear; And safe is such confiding, For nothing changes here: The storm may roar without me, My heart may low be laid; But God is round about me, And can I be dismayed?
Wherever He may guide me, No want shall turn me back; My shepherd is beside me, And nothing I can lack: His wisdom ever waketh, His sight is never dim; He knows the way He taketh, And I will walk with Him.
Green pastures are before me, Which yet I have not seen; Bright skies will soon be over me, Where the dark clouds have been: My hope I cannot measure, My path to life is free; My Saviour has my treasure, And He will walk with me.
My Saviour has my treasure, And He will walk with me. Anna Leatitia Waring (1823-1910)
GOD IS MY SHEPHERD God is my shepherd I won't be wanting I won't be wanting He makes me rest In fields of green With quiet streams
Even though I'm walking Through the valley Of death and dying I will not fear 'Cause you are with me You're always with me
Your shepherd staff Comforts me You are my feast In the presence of enemies Surely goodness Will follow me Will follow me In the house of God, forever
Stres...oor stres
Matt 6:25-26"If you decide for God, living a life of Godworship, it follows that you don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.
27-29 "Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.
30-33"If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers most of which are never even seen don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
34 "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

Stres
Stress is among the biggest problems in British workplaces, with the cost to the British economy being estimated at 3.7 billion per year, but added to this figure is the immeasurable amount of personal cost that stress and economic inactivity brings. Health and Safety Executive Workplace stress is costing the Australian economy $14.81 billion a year Medibank. It is estimated that job stress cost U.S. businesses between $150 billion (Spielberger, Vagg, & Wasala, 2003, citing Wright and Smye) and $300 billion annually (American Institute of Stress).

Jesus leer ons iets oor die oorgee van ons behoeftes en begeertes van wat ons dink nodig is om te lewe... Matt 6:25-26
Hoe sien ek God?
When I think of the judgments of God, I shake with fear. But when I think of the love and mercy and the kindness and the compassion of God, then I really shake with fear, because I know that I am judged by his mercy and by his love, and that love is awesome. St. Teresa of Ávil
34"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. 13-14"Don't look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don't fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life to God! is vigorous and requires total attention.
