Research areas The research interests of Dr. Calafiore are in the areas of optimization methods for uncertain and largescale systems, robust control, robust convex optimization, chance-constrained programming, sampling and probabilistic methods for robust control and optimization, randomized algorithms, systems and control theory. Current areas of application include estimation over large-scale interconnected systems, sparse optimization in machine learning, consensus problems for autonomous agents and in mobile robotics, sparse identification methods, and computational finance. Publications Dr. Calafiore has a record of about 160 scholarly publications. He published as a co-author 49 papers in peer-reviewed international journals (including the top-ranked journals in the areas of systems, control and optimization, such as IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Automatica, SIAM Journal on Optimization, and Mathematical Programming). He is co-author of 10 book chapters. He is co-author of 3 scientific monographs, and he is editor of a multi-authored book published by Springer-Verlag.
