System Requirements The following computer configuration requirements are based in part on subjective evaluations in regard to what constitutes acceptable performance. These minimum requirements should be used in assessing the suitability of your system for the software. Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Home (32-bit with Service Pack 3), Windows XP Professional (32-bit with Service Pack 3), Windows Vista, and Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit) Processor: Intel Pentium 4 (1.0GHz) Random access memory: Hard disk capacity: Monitor: I/O Ports: 512 MB or greater 40 GB or greater 1024 x 768 or higher resolution with 256 colors (at 96 DPI and Normal font size) USB port for data synchronization with a site controller Other: Internet access is required to download Microsoft ActiveSync and the Microsoft.NET 3.5 Framework during installation (except when running the Windows Vista operating system; ActiveSync technology is not required). Windows Installer 3.1 and Windows XP SP2 are required for.net 3.5. System Requirements for TabletSync: Trimble tablet running Microsoft Windows 7 Note: Although you can only install TabletSync on a Trimble tablet running Windows 7, it will synchronize with host computers running Windows XP*, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. *If you have Tablet Sync properly configured on your tablet, you can connect to a computer running Windows XP with Service Pack 3 via Office Synchronizer (for Business Center - HCE users) or using the Device Pane in Trimble Business Center for that product's users. If you are running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2, you must first enable peer-to-peer networking services. TabletSync uses Microsoft Windows Peer-to-Peer Networking to find hosts and devices on a network. In order for this to work, the host and device being synchronized must be on the same subnetwork of the local network. Routers, switches, and similar networking devices on the same system may prevent the discovery of the hosts and devices being synchronized.(for details, see the Connect to a Trimble Tablet Computer and Configure Windows XP to Connect to a Trimble Tablet Computer help topics.) Note: You will be unable to synchronize your Trimble tablet using TabletSync until you have run SCS900 and saved data to the data synchronization area. Trimble Office Synchronizer Release Notes 3
Installation Office Synchronizer requires both Microsoft ActiveSync technology and the Microsoft.NET Framework software. These may already be installed on your computer. If you have problems during installation, both programs are available as free downloads from Microsoft. Note: If you are running Microsoft Windows Vista, the communication functionality of ActiveSync comes embedded, so you do not need to install it. Setup The first time that you synchronize a device after installing Office Synchronizer, you must designate a data synchronization area (root synchronizer folder). Simply identify a folder for the data on your computer (for example, C:\OfficeSynchronizer). You will also be prompted to provide a name for the device. A folder will be created in the data synchronization area (under the root synchronizer folder) using the device name, (for example C:\OfficeSynchronizer\DeviceX). Office software that works with Office Synchronizer will automatically list the device folders. Placing data in these folders will allow for data transfer between the PC and field device. Multiple folders corresponding to multiple devices allows for the synchronization of data generated for and by multiple field crews. Trimble Office Synchronizer Release Notes 4
