We pray that our people will gratefully remember their courage and their sacrifice, and may have grace to live in a spirit of justice, generosity and peace. God bless Australia, guard our people, guide our leaders and give us peace. Grant that the barriers which divide the people of the world may crumble, suspicions disappear and hatred cease, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We who are gathered here today at this dawn vigil remember with gratitude the men and women who have given and are still giving, in our Armed and Supporting Services, all that is theirs to give in order that the world may be a nobler place in which to live. And with them, we remember those left behind to bear the sorrow of their loss. Let us therefore dedicate ourselves to taking up the burdens of the fallen, and with the same high courage and steadfastness, with which they went into battle, set our hands to the tasks they left unfinished. Let us, with God s help, give our utmost to make the world what they would have wished it to be, a better and happier place for all of its people, through whatever means are open to us.

IN FLANDERS FIELDS Julia Burns In Flanders Fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders Fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe; To you, from failing hands, we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders Fields. THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM Led by singer Billie Court Australians all let us rejoice, For we are young and free. We ve golden soil and wealth for toil; Our home is girt by sea, Our land abounds in nature s gifts Of beauty rich and rare; In history s page, let every stage Advance Australia Fair. In joyful strains then let us sing Advance Australia Fair. Beneath our radiant Southern Cross We ll toil with hearts and hands; To make this Commonwealth of ours Renowned of all the lands, For those who ve come across the seas We ve boundless plains to share, With courage let us all combine To Advance Australia Fair. In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair
