MODEL SMPS-575 PORTABLE STEREO SPEAKER WITH FM RADIO Please read this Instruction Manual carefully before using the unit and retain it for future reference

Press and hold the Button to increase the sound level. Dual-Function Button: Press the Button to skip to previous track/fm station. Press and hold the Button to decrease the sound level. SD/USB/TF MODE: Press the Button once to play and again to stop FM MODE: Press the Button once to start the Auto Scan process 1

CHARGING THE BATTERY Your SMPS-575 contains a rechargeable Lithium Ion (Li-ion) battery that can be fully charged in approximately 6 hours by your PC. 1. Gently flip out the STAND on back of SMPS-575. Note: Be careful not to break the hinge of the STAND while flipping it over or opening it. 2. Remove the Battery Compartment Cover and according to the polarity shown in the Battery Compartment insert the Lithium-Ion battery (Included) into the battery compartment. 3. Replace the Battery Compartment Cover and close the STAND if you do not intend on using it. 4. Plug the small end of the USB cable (Included) into the CHARGE PORT on SMPS-575 and plug the other end of the USB cable into an available USB port on your computer. 5. After charging the unit for 6 hours, unplug the USB cable to avoid over-charging the battery pack. Note: The battery should be recharged: i. Prior to first use, ii. If you notice the LED flickers when playing at high volume. This indicates the battery is becoming weak. iii. The SMPS-575 hasn t been used for a long period of time (over 60 days). IMPORTANT: DO NOT CONTINUOUSLY CHARGE THE BATTERY FOR 16 HOURS OR MORE AT A TIME. OVERCHARGING COULD CAUSE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE RECHARGEABLE BATTERY TO PREMATURELY DETERIORATE. LITHIUM BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Do not burn or bury batteries. Do not puncture or crush. Do not disassemble Recycle lithium batteries. Do not dispose of in the trash. If the electrolyte in the cells should get on your skin, thoroughly wash with soap and water. If in the eyes, rinse thoroughly with cool water. Immediately seek medical attention. Use only chargers rated for lithium cells. Be sure the charger s voltage and current settings are correct for the battery pack being charged. Charge batteries on a fireproof surface away from flammable items or liquids. Batteries should NEVER be left unattended while charging. Only adults should charge the batteries. Follow the manufacturer s instructions for charging the product and do not charge longer than recommended. Unplug the charger when the battery is charged. Recycle Rechargeable Batteries Recycle your old rechargeable batteries at one of the many collection sites in the U.S. and Canada. To find the site nearest you, visit www.call2recycle.org or call toll-free 1-877-2-RECYCLE. RADIO OPERATION 1. Press and hold the POWER BUTTON for 3 seconds to turn ON the SMPS-575. The LED will light. 2. Press the button once to begin Auto scanning the available FM stations. The radio will search for stations within the FM frequency band and save the stations as presets. 3. Press the or button to skip to next saved station or previous saved station. 4. Press and hold the or button to increase or decrease the volume level. 2

5. To turn the SMPS-575 OFF, press and hold the button for 3 seconds and release when the sound stops. The LED will go off. NOTE: If an SD card is inserted, it must be removed prior to turning the SMPS-575 OFF. TIPS FOR BEST FM RECEPTION To insure maximum FM reception, the FM Antenna should be fully extended to obtain the best possible signal. SD/TF/USB OPERATION (SD/Micro SD and USB Flash Drive not included) 1. Insert your SD card, TF (Micro SD or USB Flash Drive with the label side facing outward, into the relevant slot. Make sure MP3 music files are loaded on the Card of USB Flash Drive prior to inserting. 2. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds to turn ON the SMPS-575. The LED will light. Playback starts and the LED flashes. 3. Press the button to pause and again to resume playback. 4. Press the or button to skip to next or previous track. 5. Press and hold the or button to increase or decrease the volume level. 6. If you want to listen to the FM radio, press the M button once to switch to FM Radio mode. 7. To turn the SMPS-575 OFF, press and hold the button for 3 seconds and release when the sound stops. The LED will go off. NOTE: If an SD card is inserted, it must be removed prior to turning the SMPS-575 OFF. AUX IN OPERATION This SMPS-575 provides an AUX IN (LINE) jack that allows you to connect your ipod, iphone, MP3 or other digital audio player to play music through its speakers. A connection cable (not included) with a 3.5mm stereo plug on each end is required for connecting the SMPS-575 to the external device you wish to play audio from. 1. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds to turn ON the SMPS-575. The LED will light. 2. Connect the headphone jack of your external device to the AUX IN (LINE) Jack located on the top of the SMPS-575. (The connection cable is not included). The SMPS-575 will automatically switch to the AUX function mode once the cable is plugged into the AUX IN (LINE). 3. Start to play your ipod, MP3 player or other digital audio player. 4. Slowly adjust the volume control on your SMPS-575 and the volume on the external device. 5. Turn off the external device when you are finished listening. Turn the SMPS-575 OFF and unplug the AUX IN (LINE) connection cable. Remark: Once the AUX IN (LINE) Jack is plugged, SMPS-575 will enter the AUX IN mode automatically no matter if it is playing an SD, Micro SD, USB or in FM mode. Remember to disconnect the connection cable from SMPS- 575 after use in order to be able to listen to the FM radio or music again. USING HEADPHONES (NOT INCLUDED) Inserting the plug of your headphones into the Stereo Headphone Jack will enable you to listen to the FM Radio or MP3 music in private. When using headphones, the built-in speakers will be disconnected. READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE USING YOUR HEADPHONES 1. Avoid extended play at very high volume as it may impair your hearing. 2. If you experience ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or shut off your unit. 3. Do not use while driving a motorized vehicle. This is dangerous and also illegal in some states. 4. Keep the volume at a reasonable level even if your headset is an open-air type designed to allow you to hear outside sounds. Please note excessive high volume may still block outside sounds. 3

However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: - Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. - Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. - Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. - Consult the dealer or an experienced radio technician for help. Clean your unit with a damp (never wet) cloth. Solvents or detergents should never be used. 2. Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places. 3. Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise such as fluorescent lamps or motors. 4. If the unit is not used for an extended period of time, remove the battery. 90 DAY LIMITED WARRANTY AND SERVICE VALID IN THE U.S.A ONLY SPECTRA MERCHANDISING INTERNATIONAL, INC. warrants this unit to be free from defective materials or factory workmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of original customer purchase and provided the product is utilized within the U.S.A. This warranty is not assignable or transferable. Our obligation under this warranty is the repair or replacement of the defective unit or any part thereof, except batteries, when it is returned to the SPECTRA Service Department, accompanied by proof of the date of original consumer purchase, such as a duplicate copy of a sales receipt. You must pay all shipping charges required to ship the product to SPECTRA for warranty service. If the product is repaired or replaced under warranty, the return charges will be at SPECTRA s expense. There are no other express warranties other than those stated herein. This warranty is valid only in accordance with the conditions set forth below: 1. The warranty applies to the SPECTRA product only while: a. It remains in the possession of the original purchaser and proof of purchase is demonstrated. b. It has not been subjected to accident, misuse, abuse, improper service, usage outside the descriptions and warnings covered within the user manual or non-spectra approved modifications. c. Claims are made within the warranty period. 2. This warranty does not cover damage or equipment failure caused by electrical wiring not in compliance with electrical codes or SPECTRA user manual specifications, or failure to provide reasonable care and necessary maintenance as outlined in the user manual. 3. Warranty of all SPECTRA products applies to residential use only and is void when products are used in a nonresidential environment or installed outside the United States. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. TO OBTAIN SERVICE please remove all batteries (if any) and pack the unit carefully and send it freight prepaid to SPECTRA at the address shown below. IF THE UNIT IS RETURNED WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD shown above, please include a proof of purchase (dated cash register receipt) so that we may establish your eligibility for warranty service and repair of the unit without cost. Also include a note with a description explaining how the unit is defective. A customer service representative may need to contact you regarding the status of your repair, so please include your name, address, phone number and email address to expedite the process.
