ADVENTURE ZONE HANDBOOK 00148 www.striderbikes.com www.striderbikes.com 605-342-0266 605.342.0266 IF YOUR CHILD CAN WALK, YOUR CHILD CAN RIDE!

What is an Adventure Zone? A STRIDER Adventure Zone is a safe and friendly environment that encourages kids 18 months to 5 years old to explore mobility on two wheels as they test ride a STRIDER and play with other kids in a cordoned off area. The Adventure Zone course can be set up in as small as a 20 x 40 area indoors or outside. The unique terrain and obstacles are designed for kids of all abilities and keep kids mentally engaged and challenged. Beyond just plain fun, the goal is to improve bike handling skills to further develop balance, motor skills and confidence. STRIDER Adventure Zones are free events and are often held in conjunction with STRIDER Races, special events, or other public festivals. Demo bikes and helmets are provided at the event. 1

Layout Recommendation A recommended size of 20 x40 is good, but more space is always better! Have a tent/table for brochures, waivers, and participation awards. Put your business name on the awards so parents can connect with you. Secure and clearly mark the Adventure Zone area with pennants and/or fencing. Keep in mind the children are small and pennants need to be low. Create a one-way, loop-type course so kids all ride the same direction. Strider bikes can ride over anything...grass, dirt, gravel, concrete, etc - Small obstacles make the track interesting and keep kids engaged. Obstacles can be formed from dirt, built from lumber, or natural terrain. Add a START/FINISH line or a starting gate to give it a racetrack feel. Review the area regularly to ensure that it is fun, yet safe. 200067

Tips for Success Provide plenty of STRIDER bikes for kids to demo, some with XL seatposts. Provide a selection of helmets in various sizes. Limit participation to kids under 6 years old and smaller than 44 inches. Require participants to complete the liability and photo waiver. Make sure you have a legible email address on each waiver. Have a couple workers or volunteers present to assist with children and bikes. Have business cards and brochures on hand to give to parents and spectators. Encourage the really little kids to participate. Many parents don t understand that their 2 year old can ride a STRIDER. If you see a child in a stroller, encourage a test ride instead! When working with these tiny kids, try to get down onto their level when fitting helmets and bikes so kids don t feel intimidated. If kids need a little help, don t hold the bike, hold their shoulders or shirt collar. Holding the bike gives them false input much like training wheels and they won t feel and learn balance. If kids fall over, don t panic. Certainly check on them, but in a relaxed manner and simply encourage them to get back up and climb onto the bike all by themselves. Take photos and videos. You ll want this media for event follow-up. 00067 3

Promote Your Business Strider Adventure Zones can be used in two distinct ways to help promote your business, build relationship with current customers, connect with new customers, and even gather free media coverage. At your business If you are having an event at your business and want to encourage young families to attend and stay on-site longer, you have to offer activates to keep little kids engaged. What better way to encourage attendance and connect with parents than helping their child learn to ride a bike in a Strider Adventure Zone. Away from your business Reaching new customers is always a challenge. A Strider Adventure Zone can help you secure space at local festivals and events where crowds of people are gathered. Event promoters are always seeking activate for young families who attend their events and will often give you space free of change for providing this service. You, in return, receive great exposure as people stopped to watch cute little kids riding bikes in the Adventure Zone presented by (Your Business). Say hello, hand them a brochure for your business, and encourage them to come visit your store. Free Media There s simply nothing cuter than little kids in helmets, riding bikes, grinning from ear-to-ear. Smart phone cameras are posting to social media, curious passerby s are stopping to see what s going on,!and local media crews are drawn to the kid-focused, feel-good story. You and your business get the credit! Before the event Create custom posters with your event details (see next page) Hang posters are grocery stores, coffee houses, daycares, etc. Notify local media about the FREE Ride-a-Bike activity for kids List the event to our calendar:www.striderbikes.com/submitevent After the event Post photos and video to your website and social media Share on www.facebook.com/striderbikes Send links to the parents of the kids who participated Add some cute event photos to your next newsletter. 4
