I. PartSmart 8.x Program Installation Instructions Notes: - PartSmart version 6.09 installation is a prerequisite to this installation IF PartSmart 6 will also be used - Ensure there are no versions of PartSmart open/running during this installation - This installation is intended for either the TSE Server or Main PartSmart Machine ONLY (see the Peer-to-Peer installation document if you are installing on a Peer-to-Peer network) 1. Login as an administrator 2. If this is a TSE server, perform the following: From a Command Prompt or at the Start, Run block, type: CHANGE USER /INSTALL 3. Insert CD and click Start, Run, and type R:\SETUP.EXE and press ENTER. 4. Click OK to install English Note: At this point, additional Microsoft components may be automatically loaded. Allow the software to install any Windows packages that are required (ie. MS.NET Framework or MDAC). 5. Click Next at the InstallShield Wizard 6. Click the "I accept the terms..." radio button and click Next
7. Leave the default "PartSmart Install" setup type and click Next 8. Ensure C:\PARTS\ is indicated here and click Next
9. Click Install to begin the installation 10. Upon installation completion, click Finish
11. After clicking Finish above, wait a minute or less until the following screen appears. Enter any provided character codes (including dashes) which appears on the CD mailing cover and click Apply for each. Then click Continue to proceed to the next screen. 12. Again, another completion screen will appear. Click Finish.
Notes: 1. Steps 13 through 15 are for TSE Installations ONLY 2. The PARTS and PSDATA folder must be shared if this is NOT a TSE installation, adding the EVERYONE group with FULL ACCESS, run the PathingTool utility, and add a UNC pathname to PSDATA in the Utility tab within PS8 - see the Peer-to-Peer installation document for details 13. If this is a Windows Terminal Server, perform the following: From a Command Prompt or at the Start, Run block, type: CHANGE USER /EXECUTE 14. If there are non-administrative logins on any computer or the server in which PartSmart 8 will be used, perform the following actions on that particular machine(s): a. login as an administrator b. Click Start, Run, and in the box type d:\util\ps8_fix.bat and press ENTER. Contact Blue Ridge POS for further support for this. The commands issued from this batch file are required to make necessary Permission changes for ALL users. c. Run the partsmartconfig.exe tool from the root of the PartSmart Application CD. 15. Add all standard users on the TSE server to the POWER USERS group. This is done by right-clicking the My Computer icon, select Manage, expand the Local Users and Groups object in the left window pane, select the Groups object in the left window pane, double-clicking the POWER USERS group in the right window pane, and ADD all standard users to this group. II. PartSmart 8.x Data Installation Instructions Notes: - Ensure PartSmart 8.x is installed - This installation is intended for either the TSE Server or Main PartSmart Machine ONLY (see the Peer-to-Peer installation document if you are installing on a Peer-to-Peer network) 1. Login as an administrator 2. If this is a TSE server, perform the following: From a Command Prompt or at the Start, Run block, type: CHANGE USER /INSTALL 3. Insert CD and click Start, Run, and type R:\SETUP.EXE and press ENTER. 4. Click Next to install English
5. To procede with the installation of the PartSmartCatalog, click Next 6. Click Next at the InstallShield Wizard
7. Enter the character code (including dashes) supplied on the mailing envelope and click Apply, if applicable. You should then see this vendor listed at bottom of current screen listing. Thus, click Continue 8. To begin the installation, click Install
9. At the PartSmart Hard Drive Copy screen, ensure the Destination folder points to the correct PSDATA folder and then click Copy Checked Manufacturer(s) 10. This completes the CD installation of the vendor.
