Failure to follow all of the following instructions may result in fire, electrical shock or other serious injuries. Read and carefully follow directions and warning on battery package. Be sure to insert batteries correctly. Polarity (+ and ) is clearly marked on tool. Do not short battery terminals or charge the batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries. Always replace weak batteries with two (2) AA of the same brand. Immediately remove dead batteries and dispose of them in accordance with your local ordinances. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Keep batteries out of reach of children. Remove batteries if tool will not be used for several days or longer. 1

Always keep it out of the reach of children. Do not attempt to repair or disassemble the Digital laser level. Do not operate the tool in combustible areas. Do not attempt to modify the performance of the laser device in any way. Use of controls, adjustments or the performance of procedures other than those specified in this manual may result in hazardous radiation exposure. The use of optical instruments such as, but not limited to, telescopes or transits to view the laser beam will increase eye hazard. PROBLEM SOLVING: If display screen does not light when level is turned on, be sure that batteries are correctly inserted and check battery charge as replacement may be needed. If you experience other problems, contact the Empire Service Department at 1.800.558.0722. CARE AND MAINTENANCE: Handle your Empire Digital Level with care at all times. Appropriate use and maintenance will help to keep it accurate and in good working order. Wipe clean with a damp cloth (water only) as needed. Do not immerse in water. Do not store level at extreme temperatures above 140 or below 20 F (-6º C to 60º C). ATTENTION: For optimal performance after unpackaging, calibration of the digital unit should be performed prior to utilizing the level - Refer to page 4 for proper calibration procedure. 2
The Empire Digital Level Accuracy, Readability, Durability three HOW TO: Be sure to read all instructions carefully before using your Empire Digital Level. This level can be used both indoors and out for horizontal, vertical and angled alignment. Two (2) AA alkaline batteries (not included) are needed for operation. Button Functions:On/Off Press and hold button to turn level on. Push again to turn back light off. Press and hold the button to turn level off. Level will automatically turn off when position changes less than 1 in 5 minutes to save battery life. Audio Push audio button to hear beep within 1 degree of level or plumb. Audio tone will sleep after 30 pulses. Press any button (except Laser) to restart audio. 3
The Empire Digital Level Accuracy, Readability, Durability four Laser Simply press and hold the button to turn laser on, and press the button to turn off. The laser can be used even if the display is not on. Note: The laser will not automatically turn off after 5 minutes.red light located below digital module indicates when laser is on. Zero Calibration function: Press and hold until flashing For simple calibration of your e100 digital level, follow the three easy steps illustrated below: 1. Place level on a flat surface with the digital display facing you. Push and hold the ZERO button until CAL1 begins to flash on the display. Release the ZERO button and wait for CAL2 to appear on the display. 2. Rotate the level end to end 3. With digital display facing away from you, press the ZERO button. CAL2 will begin to flash on the display. Once CAL2 stops flashing on the display, the display will return to the home screen. Your e100 digital level is now calibrated and ready to use. Always perform this calibration procedure if your level is ever dropped or to verify that the unit is properly calibrated. Zero at Present Position function: Press and release By pressing the zero button and immediately releasing it the tool can be set at zero at that new position, allowing the user to move the tool and start the measurement from that new starting point as zero. 4
The Empire Digital Level Accuracy, Readability, Durability five Units Press to change display units: degrees ( ), slope (%), pitch (IN/FT) (shown plus(+) or minus(-) depending on direction of pitch). Press and hold button to continuously switch display between, %, IN/FT. Memory Push button to hold or release the current display, arrows will blink when display is fixed. DIGITAL DISPLAY READING: Up/Down arrows get shorter as it gets closer to level or plumb. Speaker icon shows in display window when Audio beep is activated., %, IN/FT displays to show measurement mode. Reads right side up no matter how the level is positioned. 5

WARRANTY: EMPIRE DIGITAL LASER LEVEL LIMITED ONE YEAR WARRANTY This Empire Digital Laser Level is warranted to be free from imperfections in materials and workmanship. It is an electronic tool with sensitive digital and laser components thus susceptible to damage from shock. Protect this level in the case provided and do not drop the tool. Damage caused by shock is not covered by the warranty. If the level fails under normal use, contact Empire directly for repair or replacement within 1 year of your original date of purchase. Bent frames or broken/cracked components are the result of undue shock and void the warranty. 6
