GENERAL DESCRIPTION WATER Is perfect by design The most essential element for life The element in which life began And without which life is impossible But unfortunately it is not always pure Therein lies the basis of our Ecoazur Bluewater Series Ecoazur has provided a very successful product range for the treatment and purification of water. We offer simple and cost-effective solutions to meet the most stringent drinking water standards. REVERSE OSMOSIS SYSTEMS When it comes to Reverse Osmosis employed in water purification and desalinization plants, nothing is standard. Our Reverse Osmosis systems can be designed to provide from 0.22 to 220 gallons per minute, completely customized according to each client s requirements and the characteristics of the water which is to be treated. Our clients can rest assured that they will have WHO quality approved water provided through a Reverse Osmosis system that is easy to operate and maintain and that is designed to last for many years. Our Ecoazur Bluewater systems are skid-mounted, semiautomatic or fully automatic and ready to be operated once installed. CHARACTERISTICS In one single system, our Reverse Osmosis systems filters, softens and disinfects seawater, brackish and fresh water resources to produce water that easily meets the WHO s regulations on surface water treatment and safe drinking water. Ecoazur Bluewater separates naturally occurring organics and minerals, as well as contaminants from pollution. Our systems effectively reduce salts, hardness, nitrates, pesticides, color, bacteria, viruses and the precursors of disinfection by products. TYPICAL SYSTEM DESIGN A TYPICAL application of our Reverse Osmosis systems usually consists of an influent pretreatment section with a feed pump and different filters followed by the main treatment section with a high-pressure feed pump and several RO membrane. Finally an automatic membrane flushing and cleaning system can be provided. -2-

Micron Cartridge Filter PRE-TREATMENT The pre-treatment is a vital step in the treatment process required to ensure a long-term performance of the Reverse Osmosis system and a long membrane durability. In general, superficial fresh water, seawater and wastewater resources require more pre-treatment than high-quality underground resources such as deep wells. The removal of suspended solids by filtration through Multi-grade sand filters, dual media filters and/or micron cartridge filters avoids membrane fouling and contributes to reduce mechanical wear of the high-pressure pump. Furthermore, the pre-treatment can include ultra filtration, ph-adjustment, removal of free chlorine and/or anti-scalene addition. REVERSE OSMOSIS MEMBRANES Spiral-wound RO membrane elements are housed in cylindrical pressure vessels, with up to seven interconnected elements per vessel. Vessels piped in parallel constitute a single hydraulic stage, which typically yields 50% recovery of product water based on the feed rate. The first-stage concentrate usually feeds one or more downstream stages. Two-stage systems yield about 75% recovery; three-stage systems yield about 85%, depending on concentrate chemistry. Pressure vessels are staged in a tapered array to provide adequate feed/concentrate flow rates and maintain proper differential operating pressures. CLEANING SYSTEM All semi-automatic and automatic Ecoazur Bluewater RO systems are provided with a skidmounted cleaning system which uses the rejected water for membrane flushing. -3-
PROCESS DESCRIPTION Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a liquid filtration method by forcing water through a semipermeable membrane by high pressure. The water passes through the membrane while the dissolved materials with large molecules are left behind. Under normal circumstances water would diffuse through a permeable membrane to the side with the higher concentrated solution. However, if pressure is applied to the side with the higher concentrated solution, the water is forced through the membrane to the diluted side leaving most of the impurities behind. The rejection of the dissolved ionic material is a function of both molecular weight and ionic charge. For example, we can expect a nominal 90% rejection of Sodium chloride, which means that the product water passing through the membrane will have a concentration of salt approximately one-tenth that of the feed water. The rejection of Calcium Carbonate (hardness) will be near 95%, while most metallic salts will be rejected at a rate of 97%. The removal of nonionic or organic material is primarily accomplished by mechanical filtration, i.e., pre-treatment of the influent water prior to Reverse Osmosis System. The Reverse Osmosis System is composed of two major parts; the high pressure pump and the membranes. The initial purified water production rate is measured at this pressure. It appears that there are long term benefits to be gained by operating the system at a lower percentage of water recovery, particularly in reducing maintenance requirements and pump wear, as well as in minimizing precipitation problems which may arise due to operator errors. It is important to realize that the purified water from a Reverse Osmosis System is delivered essentially at atmospheric pressure, usually to a vented storage tank. IN ADDITION WE OFFER Ultra Filtration Equipments Ultra Filtration is capable of concentrating bacteria, some proteins, some dyes and constituents that have a larger molecular weight greater that 10,000 Daltons. Softening Plants Our softening plants remove ions from the water and replacing them with sodium ions and chloride's ions. This also reduces deposits and scaling which are usually caused by water with a high level of hardness. Demineralization Plants These systems typically employ a process that involves the removal of cations by a bed of Strong Acid Cation (SAC) ion exchange resin followed by a second bed of Strong Base Anion (SBA) resin for the removal of all anions or a second bed of weak Base Anion (WBA) resin for the removal of Strong Acid Anion. -4- Please visit our website for further information at www.eco-azur.com
