Intended use 1 Intended use The USB/RS485 converter cable is the complementary data transfer cable for the Weinmann PC software products WEINMANNsupport and SOMNOlab. It transfers therapy control data between Weinmann sleep therapy and ventilation devices and the PC and provides electrical isolation. 2 Safety 2.1 Safety information Risk of injury from high-frequency radiation! High-frequency radiation can lead to malfunctions in the therapy device and put the patient at risk. Maintain the safety distance between the USB/RS485 converter cable and devices emitting high-frequency radiation (e.g. cell phones). Risk of injury from incorrect connecting cables! Incorrect connecting cables do not adequately isolate the therapy device from the PC and may damage the therapy device and put the patient at risk. Use only USB/RS485 converter cable WM 93318 with connecting cable to link the therapy device to the PC. 2.2 General information Read these instructions for use through carefully. They are a constituent part of the USB/RS485 converter cable described and must be available at all times. Connect only Weinmann therapy devices to the USB/RS485 converter cable. Anyone who installs medical devices on a PC, connects them to a PC or incorporates them in a network, is responsible for complying with EN 80001-1. USB/RS485 converter cable US 3
Safety Follow the section on hygiene treatment to avoid infection or bacterial contamination (see "5 Hygiene treatment", page 8). Have measures such as repairs, servicing and maintenance work carried out by the manufacturer, Weinmann, or by specialists expressly authorized by the latter to do so. If third-party items are used, functional failures and restricted fitness for purpose may result. Biocompatibility requirements may also not be met. Hygiene treatment 4. Connect the therapy device to a power outlet socket. The therapy device switches to standby. Result The therapy device and PC are connected. 5 Hygiene treatment 5.1 General information Use suitable gloves (e.g. household or disposable gloves) when disinfecting. Refer to the instructions for use for the disinfectant used. 5.2 Subject USB/RS485 converter cable and connecting cable to a hygiene treatment Risk of material damage as a result of ingress of liquids! Ingress of liquids may damage the USB/RS485 converter cable and the connecting cable. Do not immerse the USB/RS485 converter cable and the connecting cable in liquids. 1. Disconnect the USB/RS485 converter cable from the PC and the therapy device. 2. Subject the USB/RS485 converter cable and the connecting cable to a hygiene treatment in accordance with the table below. Servicing Result USB/RS485 converter cable and connecting cable have been subjected to a hygiene treatment. 6 Servicing The USB/RS485 converter cable and the connecting cable require no servicing. 7 Storage and disposal 7.1 Storage Store the USB/RS485 converter cable and the connecting cable under the ambient conditions described (see "8.1 Technical data", page 10). 7.2 Disposal Do not dispose of the product with domestic waste To dispose of properly, contact a licensed, certified electronic scrap disposal merchant. You can obtain the address from your Environment Officer or your local authority. The device packaging (cardboard and inserts) can be disposed of in paper recycling facilities.
