The KlimaFacade Breathable thermal insulation Indoor comfort for a lifetime Breathable thermal insulation Energy and cost savings For new and existing buildings

Indoor comfort for a lifetime What it s all about Your house should offer your entire family comfort, a sense of home and a high quality of life. The key criteria for a comfortable indoor environment are temperature and relative humidity. At room temperatures from 19 to 22 C, the humidity should ideally lie between 40 and 60%. Warm walls are therefore very important. The higher the temperature of the wall surface, the more comfortable the indoor environment feels. The difference between the room and wall surface temperature should not exceed 3 C (in a range between 19 and 22 C). Wall temperature ( C) uncomfortably cold uncomfortably warm Graph: The warmer the wall temperature, the lower the room temperature can be. Wall temperature with- out thermal insulation Wall temperature with Baumit The KlimaFacade Comfort zone Room temperature ( C) IMPORTANT: At higher wall temperatures, the room temperature can even be somewhat lower, and you will still feel comfortable. Ideally with Baumit The KlimaFacade. Baumit The KlimaFacade encases the exterior walls of your house. In this way, it provides the necessary thermal insulation and establishes a comfortable indoor environment. Optimal thermal insulation keeps your exterior walls warm in the winter and cool in the summer, lowering your heating costs and helping to conserve resources through reduced energy use. A slim 25 cm solid construction with natural materials such as Ziegel (fired clay) or Leca (expanded clay) bricks and blocks ensures stability, heat retention, fire protection and sound insulation for your family home. The ClimaFacade 2

Baumit completely breathable Comfort in your own home As a leading manufacturer of construction materials, we have produced products for facades and external wall insulation systems for decades. Continuous research and development have given rise to a new generation of thermal insulation that combines a natural homely atmosphere with energy savings: Baumit The KlimaFacade. Baumit The KlimaFacade harmonises perfectly with the wall material and combines a natural homely atmosphere with energy awareness. Regardless of whether your shell has already been built, or you are still designing your house or you want to give your existing home a new facade. The breathable Baumit KlimaFacade is an ETAG 004 certified external wall insulation system that makes no compromises and is perfect for insulation and remediation. You save time and money during construction and will definitely save on heating costs for a lifetime. Up to 10 l of water vapour per household per day must escape to the outside. Baumit The KlimaFacade contributes effectively to this requirement since the systems using the insulation boards Baumit FassadenPlatte as well as the Baumit FassadenPlatte reflect have the same diffusion resistance µ 10 as a brick wall. µ-value The µ-value indicates how much higher the water vapour diffusion resistance of a material is compared with air. The smaller the µ-value, the better the water vapour diffusion. Baumit The KlimaFacade perfectly adapts to the qualities of the wall material: It retains and strengthens the positive brick properties. It is as breathable as bricks. A homogeneous wall structure with respect to moisture transport prevents water condensation. A comfortable indoor environment is guaranteed. 3

Optimal Thermal Insulation and sound insulation in one The best insulation offered by nature Baumit The KlimaFacade takes advantage of the best properties available in nature. Inside the facade insulation board millions of enclosed air bubbles form an insulating cushion. With this natural insulation, the KlimaFacade ensures perfect temperatures in the exterior wall and fosters a pleasant environment indoors. All for complete comfort. Baumit The KlimaFacade was developed in Austria in 1999 and awarded the Energy Globe Austria in 2002. In the meantime, it has proven itself on well over 10 million m² of facade area, which corresponds to roughly 50,000 single-family homes. Optimal insulation and breathability Whether your shell has already been built, or you are still planning your house or you want to give your existing home a new facade: Baumit The KlimaFacade is always the right choice. The most recent development in the breathable family is Baumit reflect The KlimaFacade. With a thermal conductivity of λ = 0.031 W/mK, it offers 23 percent better thermal insulation than typical insulating boards. In other words, you obtain the same insulating performance with a lower insulation thickness! As a result, Baumit reflect The KlimaFacade lets more light into the house and is perfect for insulation and remediation. Sound insulation and thermal insulation in one Especially in locations with high traffic volumes or for people with sensitive ears, noise pollution can frequently impair one s quality of life. By protecting against this, sound insulation can improve the quality and comfort of your home. Baumit has discovered an innovative solution for combining sound insulation and breathable thermal insulation: Baumit and Baumit reflect in a special sound insulating design. The Baumit Schallschutz FassadenPlatte and the Baumit Schallschutz FassadenPlatte reflect provide sound insulation to reduce noise penetrating into your home so you can sleep peacefully. 4

Save Energy and heating costs The right thermal insulation If you are currently planning or building your long-desired home, energy awareness plays an important role because choosing the right thermal insulation today will determine your heating costs tomorrow. Optimal thermal insulation keeps the exterior walls warm and prevents the loss of energy to the outside. It reduces energy consumption, conserving increasingly scarce and expensive resources and reducing pollutant emissions during the heating season an active contribution to climate protection. With the Baumit KlimaFacade, you can insulate the right way and in accordance with the current requirements of strict building regulations perfect for benefiting from subsidies. The thermographic image shows weak points in the building, such as thermal bridges that let heat flow to the outside. (Source: Office of the Upper Austrian provincial government) Save in both summer and winter Thermal insulation doesn t only pay off in the winter. While walls are kept warm during the cold season, thermal insulation acts during the summer like an air-conditioner. The outer walls are well insulated, preventing them from heating up as much and keeping indoor rooms cool. Without any additional measures or additional energy consumption. In the winter, you save heating costs......... in the summer, cooling costs! Baumit Nanopor Anti-ageing for the facade 5

For New and Existing Buildings warm walls improve comfort Low energy and passive houses Naturally, the KlimaFacade leaves you perfectly equipped for innovative construction methods. Low energy house Low energy houses are houses with a specific heating demand of less than 48 kwh/m 2 of net floor area per year. Passive house Passive houses are buildings in which a comfortable temperature can be achieved in the winter and in the summer without an active heating or air-conditioning system. They offer increased living comfort with a heating demand of less than 15 kwh/m 2 of net floor area per year. More details, such as requirements, features, advantages, etc. can be found in the Baumit guide Low Energy / Passive Houses, which can be downloaded from www.baumit.com. Baumit The KlimaFacade is optimally suited for thermal renovation of existing buildings as well as for use in new buildings and ensures comfort thanks to warm walls. New buildings Even during the planning of your home, it is worth considering the optimal wall structure as well as the correct choice of an external wall insulation system. On one hand, you can save on construction costs with slim wall structures (e.g. 25 cm brick) in combination with optimal thermal insulation. On the other, you also benefit from additional indoor living space thanks to the thinner exterior walls. Baumit The KlimaFacade is a vapour-permeable system that allows moisture to escape to the outside. This allows the masonry to dry more quickly, which shortens the construction time and avoids subsequent damage due to excess moisture. 6

The Best of the Best save on heating costs for a lifetime! Baumit reflect The KlimaFacade: this breathable external wall insulation system now offers even better thermal insulation. Baumit reflect is now 23 percent more effective than typical external wall insulation systems! Baumit StarTrack Fixing Anchors fix then bond Baumit StarTrack fixing anchor are a major innovation in thermal renovation. They save you additional energy and reduce your heating costs still further. The direct fastening of the Baumit Bonding Anchor into the masonry not only avoids thermal bridges, it also makes anchor marks a thing of the past. The Baumit StarTrack fixing anchor is secured within the supporting masonry and covered with adhesive before bonding the insulation boards. In this way, it creates additional bonding points that are firmly affixed to the supporting masonry. Baumit reflect a breathable structure plus 23% greater insulation performance Baumit reflect is similarly breathable to Ziegel and harmonises perfectly with the wall material while offering 23% more insulation than typical EPS-based external wall insulation systems. New raw material properties enable outstanding thermal insulation values and heat protection properties. The special, silver-grey raw material contains infrared-reflectors that reduce the penetration of thermal radiation. Choose the best of the best, and you, too, can depend on the security of this proven system. Baumit NanoporTop anti-ageing for the facade The use of nanotechnology has made it possible to provide Baumit NanoporTop with special properties that protect the render surface against various types of soiling. The surface of Baumit NanoporTop is microscopically smooth, making it difficult for dirt particles to take hold. It is also based on a special formula that works in conjunction with the forces of nature to lend the surface a self-cleaning function. The rapidly drying surface of Baumit NanoporTop denies algae and fungi the opportunity to grow, drastically reducing infestations even under unfavourable conditions. The result is a facade that remains clean and beautiful for twice as long. 7

Thermal Renovation pays off Take advantage of the right time Thermal renovation: one of the best investments in the future With a well-insulated house, you can lower your heating costs over the long term and warm walls further increase the quality of life and comfort in your home. The insulated exterior shell of your house reduces CO2 emissions, making an active contribution to climate protection. Thermal renovation of your house with an external wall insulation system also increases its value and gives you the opportunity to lend your home a fresh look. Insulation is therefore one of the best investments in the future. Depending on the design, insulation thickness and financing, the amortisation time of an external wall insulation system ranges between 7 and 14 years. In many cases, thermal renovation is also supported by generous subsidies. Another strong argument for the decision to insulate now for higher quality of life and lower heating costs! The comfort and indoor environment of older, poorly insulated houses often leave much to be desired. Cold exterior walls result in too great a temperature difference between wall surfaces and the room air. If this difference is greater than three degrees Celsius, a radiation asymmetry results, with draughts that the body perceives as unpleasant. The warmer the inside of the exterior walls, the less heating of the room air is required for the occupants to feel comfortable. Insulating with an external wall insulation system creates a pleasant indoor environment and saves heating energy! Heat loss of a house Roof approx. 25 % From the outside inward: The building shell is an absolute necessity for thermal insulation. Only after the heat losses through the uninsulated facade have been minimised can the heating system be optimally adapted to the improved situation. Uninsulated exterior walls can be the cause of up to 40 percent of the total heat loss of a house, thereby making up the single largest portion. For this reason, insulation of the building shell is the most meaningful first step in thermal renovation. Thermal renovation of the exterior shell of your house with an external wall insulation system is not only the most effective measure for lowering your heating costs it also improves the comfort and quality of life in your home. walls approx. 40 % windows approx. 20 % basement approx. 15 % 8

The Solution as a system Baumit reflect Baumit FassadenPlatte reflect offers 23% greater insulation performance at the same thickness as typical EPSbased facade insulation boards. Alternative: Baumit facade insulation board Baumit KlebeSpachtel W is vapour-permeable and white adhesive; used for bonding the boards and as the basecoat render with reinforcement. Baumit reinforcing mesh is alkaline-resistant and serves as the reinforcement for the Baumit KlimaFacade. Baumit Primer and Baumit Top complete the second skin of your house. Both are also vapour-permeable. Baumit Top is a mineral-based, water-repelling thin-layer topcoat render that lends your building a personal touch with its individual colouring. Choose from Baumit Life - the largest colour system for facades, and among three possible textures (three coarse textures with 3 mm, 2 mm or 1.5 mm grain as well as finer render for reveals and window surrounds). Alternative: Baumit NanoporTop keeps your facade clean and beautiful for twice as long. Baumit Fascina is a ready to use mixed, fine white topcoat render for a variety of render textures, specifically developed for the KlimaFacade. It is suited both for processing by hand and with power tools. Save time during installation 9

Perfect Addition for interiors Baumit KlimaProducts live healthier While Baumit The KlimaFacade keeps the walls cosily warm from the outside to ensure comfortable temperatures, the Baumit Klima Products inside your house regulate the humidity and thereby the indoor environment. They naturally protect against mould and are purely mineral-based and free of pollutants to ensure healthy living. Baumit KlimaPutz S plaster has a micro-pore structure that lends it outstanding climate-regulating properties. When the room air is damp, it absorbs excess moisture and stores it in order to be released again slowly and evenly under drier conditions. The air pores in the plaster provide natural water storage. As a result, the surface always remains dry. This Baumit product family for a healthy indoor environment is perfectly completed with KlimaFarbe paint. This is also vapourpermeable and mineral-based. Baumit KlimaSpachtel filling plaster creates a textured surface and is particularly well-suited for coating concrete ceilings, gypsum plasterboard, nachpruefen!! etc. Baumit KlimaGlätte skimming plaster creates a smooth surface entirely according to your individual style. S The SanierKlimaFacade Simply unique! S With the S SanierKlimaFacade, you can repair and insulate your facade all at once and without delay! Remediation renders were for a long time the only solution for the repair of damp and salt-laden masonry. With S The Sanier KlimaFacade, Baumit has now developed a system that allows remediation and insulation in a single step. How it works This system is a breathable, vapour-permeable, EPS-based external wall insulation system. The unique properties of the specially developed Baumit S SanierKlebespachtel adhesive and basecoat render permit thermal insulation and remediation of damp and salt-laden masonry. Thanks to bonding of the insulation boards using the perimeter strip and dab method, sufficient space remains between the insulation board and masonry for salt deposits (see image Repaired, insulated facade ). How it works Before: Damaged facade After: Repaired, insulated facade Baumit S SanierKlebespachtel Harmful salts Baumit FassadenPlatte reflect Render damage due to salt deposits Heat loss Wärme On damp and salt-laden masonry Die Baumit S SanierKlebespachtel: Vapour-permeable, salt-resistant, mineral-based powdered adhesive and basecoat render.
