GIGABIT PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK

ABOUT US Key element of modern internet-based content delivery systems (Data, Voice, Video) is interaction with a subscriber. Time when classic TV broadcasting of identical contents to every viewer, without their ability to select desired contents and/or device on which they are consumed is gone. Interactive TV (itv) systems enable users to select the programs they want to watch at any time, any place and on any media device (TV set, PC, Smartphone, ipad, etc). Internet-based content delivery systems of today are based on Next Generation Networking (NGN) principles, where the transmission of different video contents via IPTV represents one of its key features. IPTV technology fully enables implementation of itv, no matter whether the service is offered by managed (Local Autonomy IPTV) or unmanaged networks (OTT). Network Manager has always kept pace with most advanced technology solutions, so we can proudly say we are one of the first system integrators in the region who developed their own itv system Plum software for realization of itv service, Plum transcoder and Plum streamer.

FIBER TO THE HOME FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) is the latest generation of technology providing broadband internet, digital and analog television, IPTV, telephony and other advanced services. End user is given an optical fiber for connecting to a single communication network. Advantages in comparison with other access technologies are: huge capacities, small amount of data loss and unhindered transmission over great distances. Investment into FTTH access technology provides at least 25 years of its use. Significant cost savings can be achieved when implementing a greenfield FTTH network as active components which need constant power supply are left out from the transport network. Maintenance of access network during its use does not require noticeable human resources and overhead costs. Such network is scalable and easily expandable.

GIGABIT PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK Passive Optical Network (PON) is a technology which uses passive optical splitters for connecting users Optical Network Terminals (ONT) to a central Optical Line Terminal (OLT). PON technology has an advantage over Active Ethernet because optical splitters are passive components which do not need power supply. Also, smaller amounts of optical cables are needed than in case of P2P technology. There are several PON technologies, but most frequently used are GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network), standardized by ITU-T (ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector), and EPON/GEPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network/Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network), standardized by IEEE. GPON is asymmetric, enabling speed of 2.5 Gbps for downstream and 1.25 Gbps for upstream.

NETWORK MANAGER RELIABLE GPON SOLUTION During implementation of new access technologies, our company has been working closely with our clients providers of telecommunication services. Numerous successfully implemented access networks based on GPON technology give us excellent recommendations for installation and commissioning of GPONs. Central OLT - Huawei MA5680T series integrates the aggregation and switching functions, provide the high-density xpon, Ethernet P2P, and GE/10GE ports, and provide the TDM and Ethernet private line services with high clock precision to support smooth Internet access service, video service, voice service, and high-reliability service access. Wide range of models allows high level of scalability regarding the number of service slots. The switching capacity of the backplane is up to 3.2 Tbit/s.

COM Cable Operator Manager COM is a software for administration of subscribers and network monitoring, developed by Network Manager company. Originally designed for use in HFC networks, it has been modified so it can now fully support features required for work inside FTTH environment. Beside user/ont identity authentication and its registration to a network, this software enables highly efficient administration of subscribers (personal information, addresses, subscription payment overview, invoicing, etc.), as well as creation of individual and bundled services (analog TV, digital TV, internet packages, VoIP packages, IPTV, etc.), and network monitoring (network performance charts).

CUSTOMER PREMISES EQUIPMENT Important element in system implementation is Customer-premises Equipment ONT devices for termination of optical line on user s side. Devices support all triple-play services (Data, Telephony, IPTV). Depending on services which should be offered to a client, there are several different models for home or SOHO users: Data only (1 or 4 GE ports) Data + POTS (1 or 4 GE ports, 1 or 2 POTS) Data + POTS + Wi-Fi (1 or 4 GE ports, 1 or 2 POTS) Solutions implemented by Network Manager company are based on ONT devices compatible with head-end equipment and support full range of features of all types of services.
