More than 100 years of quality paper For well over 100 years Mondi has produced some of the strongest kraft paper available. Paper that is perfect for a multitude of applications, not least in the cement and building materials industries. Built on the best fibres All our sack kraft paper grades are made from clean, virgin wood fibres. Our most advanced grades use sustainable, slow-growing pine and spruce that produce the very long and strong fibres necessary for the strongest grades. Committed to the future Sack kraft paper is our core business. We have a truly global focus where our international sales network, 4 sack kraft paper mills and 6 paper machines ensure reliable, fast and efficient paper supply all the time, all over the world. In 2014 Mondi will start-up the new PM7, an additional machine at the Štětí mill in the Czech Republic to meet the growing demand for bleached kraft paper. Great paper features Strength Both our brown and white sack kraft paper grades offer excellent strength properties. Our strongest grades have a TEA index of up to 3.8 J/g. These grades are ideal for 1-ply and 2-ply industrial bags with a filling weight up to 50 kg. A strong commitment to sack kraft paper. Porosity For fast and dust-free filling of cement or other powdered goods we offer papers with a perfect combination of strength and porosity. As these papers are porous enough to offer efficient de-airation of bags during filling, perforation is not needed. Yet, they are strong enough to withstand the tough demands of filling and handling. Runnability In the bag converting plant, paper features such as strength, stiffness and surface smoothness must be stable to ensure effective operation of high-speed converting machinery. Printability Particularly our white sack kraft paper grades offer excellent print characteristics. A smooth paper surface and an even paper formation gives a high-quality print result enhancing your bag s point-of-purchase appearance. Lighter weights for improved economy It has been proven that 50 kg cement bags need to have a TEA value of 400 J/m 2. On the other hand, 25 kg bags have a strength demand of 300 J/m 2. Intensive R&D over the last 25 years now allows Mondi to offer lightweight, strong, porous and economical sack kraft paper the world over. 3-2-ONE Sack kraft paper is now so strong that 3-ply bags very seldom are necessary. Instead, 2-ply bags made of strong, high-porous grades (e.g. 2-ply 80 g/m 2 Advantage Select) are designed to hold up to 50 kg of cement. For 20 kg to 35 kg bags, 1-ply 110 g/m 2 (Advantage ONE) bags have proven to be an innovative, very economical and successful solution. In all climates and conditions Mondi supplies sack kraft paper to almost every corner of the world. Bags made from our paper endure wet, dry, cold and hot climates and very tough handling in a wide variety of conditions. Great savings Lighter weight sack kraft paper and bag constructions with fewer plies can offer significant cost savings for you. The bag construction is lighter and less complicated to manufacture. Transportation and waste disposal costs are reduced. And an added benefit is that the high porosity grades significantly reduces dust at filling and handling, offering less waste and a much better working environment. 4
Less is more. CASE Siam City Cement, Thailand SCCC, Siam City Cement and Mondi have successfully introduced 2-ply 80 g/m 2 sack kraft paper for 50 kg cement packaging a new benchmark for Southeast Asia. The bags are made from our high porosity Advantage Select grade and provide SCCC with a number of benefits throughout the supply chain. Reduced paper consumption, dustfree filling, fewer breakages at filling and handling, and excellent slip resistance are only some of the successful achievements at SCCC. CASE Santong, China One of the biggest cement bag producers in China, Santong, has successfully implemented a high porosity 50 kg cement bag construction together with Mondi. Important cement customers such as Heidelberg (Jing Yang Cement), Sinoma Zhongcai Cement, China Resources Cement and Taiwan Cement are all switching from perforated 3-ply bags to the new 2-ply high porous bags made from Advantage Select 80 g/m 2. 5

R&D for your Customer benefit focus. CASE Advantage ONE Since 2004, millions of one-ply bags have been filled. The one-ply bags are made using Advantage ONE, a strong and porous sack kraft paper grade developed specifically for the new 20 kg or 25 kg bag that is becoming the norm in many markets. This 110 g/m 2 paper offers a significant cut in paper grammage and cost. Yet it is strong enough to handle quick, dust-free filling of 25 kg bags. Advantage ONE quite simply helps converters and fillers around the world reduce costs and improve production performance. Sustainable business When ensuring that our papers are ecologically sound, our main focus is on the production process. Some examples are: A new EUR 60 million recovery boiler at the Frantschach mill in Austria, which is built as a green power plant utilising the black liquor from the pulp production. This new biofuel power plant makes the mill self-sufficient for electrical energy. A series of energy related investments at the mill in Stambolijski, Bulgaria, means that the mill can even sell excess electricity. Naturally, Mondi supports sustainable forestry and uses wood from FSC and PEFC certified sources. Large efforts are also made to reduce the company s total carbon footprint. 7
