2. AMENDMENTS TO MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING/ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES Nil. 3. COMMANDER REPORT Opening/Welcome by Commander Supt. Mark Walton. Began his policing career at Kogarah and performed GDs for about four years at Kogarah and. Moved to Criminal Investigation for the next 10 years working in local C.I. Crime Squad and Task Forces roles. Returned to Kogarah in 1998 and shortly after moved into relieving Duty Officer and Crime Manager roles. Promoted to Duty Officer Job at Leichhardt at the end of 1999 and from the end of 2002, relieved as the Commander at Hurstville for a year before moving to Eastern Suburbs to relieve as the Commander and subsequently was appointed as the Commander. As a Superintendent, has been the Commander at Redfern, worked as the DCOP Field Staff Officer for a year and spent two years running Investigations at Professional Standards. In 2009, moved to City Central which merged into Sydney City in 2013 until commencing here at St George. 4. OVERVIEW OF CURRENT CRIME TRENDS Presented and discussed by Crime Manager, Insp. Paul Simpkins. Personal crime has increased. Property crime is travelling well. Malicious damage has increased slightly. Steal from dwelling is still high. (Mail theft and fraud increasing.) Increase in Steal from Motor Vehicle. Alcohol related crime is low. Hot spots Hurstville, and Kogarah (transport hubs). Police very active in person search and move on powers. 5. GENERAL BUSINESS City Vince Carrabs Asked about time of processing people through Custody. Commander response Due to providing Criminal Infringement Notices, Future Court Attendance Notices and Field Finger print Identity kits, less people need to be taken into police custody. However, due to entering more data into police system, the process is more time consuming, but more effective. City Williamson City council have promoted DV Awareness Campaign by having DV slogans on garbage trucks. Upcoming Events including White Ribbon Day Soccer Tournament at Ador Ave on 28 November 2015. Police presence requested. Police confirmed they will be attending. New Years Eve at Brighton. Police confirmed attendance. Office of Mark Coure MP for Oatley Violeta Becvarovski Raised the question about how often police are tasked visits to licensed premises as there are concerns about alcohol related incidents in residential areas around licensed premises. Superintendent Walton stated that Licensing Police are tasked fortnightly on Friday and Saturday nights. GD Police are tasked to visit Licensed premises on a daily basis and also attend more frequently on Friday and Saturday nights. Commander Walton stated that no tolerance is to be shown to people who do not comply with the Liquor Act. Requested a snap shot of DV statistics within St George area to compare with other areas for funding reasons. Raised issues about anti- social behaviour continuing at Westfield Hurstville. No representative from Westfield Hurstville present to respond. Raised the issue about an assault that occurred in Westfield Car Park in July. S/Cst Piazzetta stated that a follow up with the victim occurred and the issued was not an assault, but rather a road rage exchange of swearing at the victim. The victim supplied registration number of offending vehicle, but no match located in our system. City Williamson Requested police outcome/arrests of CCTV footage supplied by. S/Cst Kerridge stated that on a monthly basis, police could supply relevant outcomes when an event number is supplied. David Linden also requested the monthly update. Raised issue of correct procedure for police obtaining CCTV footage from. Some police are still not following correct procedure. S/Cst Kerridge responded that a reminder email will be sent to all St George LAC staff about correct procedure of obtaining CCTV. David Linden also would like the same. Stated 70 cameras in area will be upgraded with faster internet access. Hurstville David Linden Issues of children attending Hurstville Library without a parent supervising them. care centre. S/Cst Kerridge stated that safety strategies have been discussed and advised to contact police if occurs in the future. Office of Kamper Kamper Raised concern about crime in Arncliffe area. Superintendent Walton stated that it is a perception of crime due to cultural significance. Crime occurs in this area and police investigate. Office of Kamper Andrew Tsounis Raised concern about public safety speeding and noise around Brighton Le Sands area around Grand Parade and Bay Street, usually between Thursday to Sunday. Superintendent Walton stated that Highway Patrol have been informed of traffic issues and will impose infringements to offenders. Clearways also to be targeted. Superintendent Walton Requested CSPC Members to promote these meetings to other community groups or leaders who would benefit from attending. Will provide maps of crime occurring with St George to present data rather than the current format provided. 6. OUTSTANDING ACTIONS: Superintendent Walton to provide relevant crime Statistics that compare the periods, crime type and locations. Statistics to be provided for the number of Domestic Violence incidents occurring in each suburb of. Discussion at next meeting about the format of future CSPC meetings. 7.
