(5) SKANSKA SVERIGE ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SUPPLIERS Prepared: Skanska Sverige AB

(5) ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SUPPLIERS Skanska Sverige AB (Skanska) has a management system certified in accordance with ISO14001. Skanska s established values are described in Policy för kvalitet, miljö och arbetsmiljö (policy for quality, environment and work environment). See www.skanska.se/leverantor. Skanska s vision is to be a model in Swedish industry, in part by being a sustainable builder of society. Skanska s strategic focus is to work with its stakeholders to build a sustainable society with a focus on the climate, energy, materials and biodiversity. Skanska s stakeholders include its. In this document, supplier refers to of materials, contractors and consultants. In cases that refer to only one of these three, this will be noted in bold italics. M.1 ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT M.1.1 M.1.2 M.1.3 Environmental policy The supplier must have an environmental policy in writing that establishes the ambitions for the company s environmental work. This policy must be presented on request. There must be procedures for identifying applicable environmental legislation. Environmental risks The contractor must conduct a risk assessment in which procedures documented in writing are established that ensure that the risks identified as environmental risks are addressed. Procedures should at least include reporting of contingency planning and planned measures for limiting identified environmental risks. Environmental plan The consultant must prepare a project-specific environmental plan for the assignment. Skanska s vision and strategic focus and its policy with respect to the environment (according to the introduction above) must always be taken into consideration in the environmental plan. Procedures for the consultant s own controls must be evident in the environmental plan. The plan must be matched to Skanska s project plan and approved by Skanska. M.2 ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT Skanska reserves the right to conduct environmental audits of the supplier. The supplier must participate in such audits and provide the necessary documentation. In cases where sub-contractors and/or sub- are employed, the supplier must ensure that Skanska has the corresponding right with respect to the supplier s sub-contractors and sub-.

(5) M.3 GOODS M.3.1 M.3.2 M.3.3 M.3.4 Skanska in Sweden s criteria for chemical substances Goods used within Skanska must be evaluated against Skanska in Sweden s criteria for chemical substances. See www.skanska.se/supplier. The goods may not contain any substances included on the list of restricted substances. Goods that contain substances on the phase-out list must be reported separately. Goods that are registered in the BASTA database available at http://www.bastaonline.se meet Skanska in Sweden s chemical requirements. Goods information Materials The materials supplier and the contractor must upon request provide regularly updated construction materials declarations in digital form, primarily in accordance with the instructions issued by the construction industry s Ecocycle Council (Byggsektorns Kretsloppsråd). Chemical products The supplier must provide regularly updated materials safety data sheets in digital form. Listing The contractor must ensure that there is a listing and materials safety data sheets at the worksite for chemical products, such as lubricants, caulking compounds and paints, that are used. As an aid, the contractor may use Skanska s external chemicals database available at http://www.skanska-kemdatabas.se, which also indicates whether or not the products meet Skanska s chemical requirements. Development With the objective of constantly reducing the environmental impact of the goods and services included in contracts, the supplier must provide information upon request regarding alternative goods and services with better environmental characteristics. For contracts with a period of more than one year, the supplier must have an action-oriented environmental plan that includes information regarding measures that are intended to improve environmental characteristics of the goods and services included in the contract. Opportunities shall be provided by the supplier to participate in projects to develop more environmentally compatible goods, services and methods.

(5) M.4 MACHINERY AND VEHICLES Diesel and gasoline-fueled vehicles, construction machinery and tools on the worksite must use petrol of environmental class 1 (MK1) or diesel fuel of environmental class 1 with 5% RME or other fuel with equal or better environmental characteristics. For gasoline engines of less that 20 kw, alcylate fuel must be used. For contracts with a period of more than one year, all operators of vehicles and machinery must be trained in economical driving. This does not apply to operators of special machines, such as asphalt pavers, compactors, milling machines and pile drivers, for which such driving methods are less applicable. Vehicles and machinery must be equipped with spill containers (absorbing or similar) to be used in case of accidents. Fuel tanks (IBC) must meet the ADR-S transport of hazardous goods, meaning that they must be type-approved and labeled as tightness-tested within the prescribed interval. Fuel tanks must be placed in designated locations. M.5 WASTE AND RESIDUAL PRODUCTS The contractor is responsible for ensuring that residual products and waste are source-sorted and placed in containers in accordance with the procedures that apply for the project. When the contractor is responsible for disposing of waste, it must report how the waste was handled. This report must specify what portion of the waste was recycled or dumped. The contractor must also have procedures for identifying and handling hazardous waste. The contractor is responsible for removal and disposal of its own hazardous waste in accordance with the Waste Directive (SFS 2001:1063). On request, the contractor must submit transport documents and permits/certificates from transporters and waste recipients that confirm that the provisions of the directive were satisfied. M.6 TRANSPORTS Deliveries must be effected such that environmental impact is limited. At the least, vehicles must be operated within Sweden with gasoline of environmental class 1 (MK1) or diesel fuel of environmental class 1 with 5% RME or other fuel with equal or better environmental characteristics. For contracts with periods of more than one year, all drivers of heavy vehicles must be trained in economical driving. M.7 SPECIAL ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS M.7.1 Project-specific environmental requirements If the customer places special environmental requirements on individual projects, the supplier will be provided with information and guidance to ensure that the requirements are satisfied.

(5) M.7.2 M.7.3 Wood materials Wood materials used within Skanska may not originate from illegally felled timber or from protected areas or forests with high conservation value unless credibly certified. Climate impact On request, the supplier must provide information regarding carbon dioxide emissions in its operations. For contracts with periods more than one year, the supplier must have an action-oriented plan for reducing climate impact from the goods and services included in the contract. On request, the supplier must provide information regarding newly developed products and services that reduce climate impact for Skanska and Skanska s customers.
