Booking information All workshops will be held in my workroom at Dots n Stripes, 6 Gullane Terrace, Dundee, DD2 3BT. The full day classes will have a break of 30 min and it is advisable to bring something for your lunch. Tea and coffee is available to you throughout the day. The materials are generally not included unless mentioned otherwise. Please see individual class descriptions. If you buy fabrics class in my shop, you will receive a 15% discount. Sewing machines are provided for all classes. All the workshops have a maximum limit of 3 students. If there are less than 2 students booked on a workshop I withhold the right to cancel with 5 days notice and give a full refund. If you have booked and paid for a place in one of the workshops but are unable to come, I will refund your fee in full provided a replacement can be found by yourself or by me. If for some unforeseeable reason I have to make changes, I will inform you as soon as possible to offer you an alternative day or a full refund. Payment is required in full at time of booking to secure your place. For beginners sewing a loop scarf Saturday 1 st October 10-12.30pm Wednesday 16 th November 6.30-9pm Cost: 25 This workshop is for complete beginners who would like to learn basic sewing skills. The loop or infinity scarf is an easy project to get started. It can be made for adults or children. You will learn how to thread a sewing machine, try out various stitches, cut out the material, pin it together and then use the straight stitch on the sewing machine to sew it together. At the end of this workshop you will go away with a beautiful, fashionable scarf that is truly unique! Materials: All materials included. Introduction to sewing with jersey Friday 9 th September 6.30-9pm fully booked - Cost: 25 Have you always wanted to try out sewing with jersey fabrics but weren t sure how to handle it? Then come along and join in. Together we will play about with some jersey scraps (there are plenty here on hand) to get the feeling for it. We then go onto cut out, pin and sew a jersey scarf. You will leave the workshop with your own designed loop scarf and the confidence to venture on to other jersey projects. Materials: All materials included.

Owl cushion Saturday 8 th October Full day: 10.00-14.00 Cost: 35 This cute bird is really fun to make: it is about 30 cm tall, with big eyes, a pointy beak and separate wings it will make a lovely decoration for any room. In this workshop you will learn how to cut out the fabric, appliqué the eyes and beak, pin it and then sew it together on the sewing machine. After that you fill it with toy stuffing and finish it off with a bit of hand stitching. Not suitable for complete beginners. Materials: Included. No need to bring any fabrics, you can choose your materials from the large selection in my shop, it s all included in the price! Plus you can take away the lovely pattern. Materials: Not included. You will need 2.50m thin to medium weight knit fabrics, 1.40m wide. You can bring your own material or choose it from the large selection in my shop at a 15% discount. www.dotsnstripes.co.uk Sewing a tote/shopping bag Saturday 29 th October Full day: 10.00-15.00-1 space left - Cost: 40 Everyone has some kind of shopping bag, but not everyone can say: I've made it myself! In this workshop you will learn how to create your own, unique, lined tote bag. The pattern we use leaves you the choice of making a bag with short or long handles, with outside and/or inside pockets or none at all, a flat bag or a bottomed one, one with a zip or buttons for fastening... all variations will be covered in this class! Skater dress Saturday 17 th September Materials: included. You can choose your materials from the large selection in my shop, it s all included in the price, but if you have a favourite material you want to use, please bring it along. The workshop is suitable for those with basic sewing knowledge. Full day: 10-14.00 Cost: 35, pattern included Sewing with jersey is not as difficult as you think. In this workshop we will be making a skater dress made from knit or jersey fabrics. You will be shown how to cut out the material, sew a stretchy neckline and finish off seams.

Elephant cushion Monday 26 th September Saturday 3rd December Full day: 10.00 14.00 Cost: 35 Who says elephants have to be grey? Certainly not these ones! They are about 45cm tall, have two floppy ears, a braided tail and are really fun to make. In this workshop you will learn to cut out the fabric, sew the ears, eyes and make the tail before sewing the body together on the sewing machine. You will also be shown a few useful tips when sewing curves before you stuff your elephant with toy filling. Not suitable for complete beginners. Materials: Included. No need to bring any fabrics, you can choose your materials from the large selection in my shop, it s all included in the price! Plus you can take away the lovely pattern.. A skirt-in-a-day workshop Saturday 20 th August Friday 4 th November Full day: 10.00-15.30pm Cost: 35, pattern included In this workshop you will learn how to make your own skirt from a commercial pattern. You will be shown how to sew darts, put a zip in and even add pockets if you like. The pattern includes a straight skirt in various lengths and sizes, from 10 to 24. Materials: Not included. Suitable materials are lightweight cottons, poplins, linens, chambray, seersucker, twill, lightweight denims and for the straight skirt also fine cords and medium weight denims. The material should be at least 115cm (45") wide, the length depends on the type of skirt you'd like to make and on your size. You can also buy the materials on the day in my shop at a 15% discount. www.dotsnstripes.co.uk If you'd like to bring your own fabric, please get in touch for the information regarding quantity. You will also need to bring an 18cm zip.

Zipped cosmetic bag Wednesday, 14 th September Full day: 6.30-9pm Costs: 25 In this workshop you will learn how to make a zipped cosmetic bag. You will be shown how to cut out your material, use interfacing and wadding, insert a zip and finish it off with some hand sewing Materials: included. You can choose your materials from the large selection in my shop, it's all included in the price, but if you have a favourite material you want to use, just bring it along. Sewing Club Have you been to a few classes and now you want to work on your own projects but with a little help? The sewing club is the perfect solution. A weekly class where you can bring whatever you are working on. Sewing in a group is much more fun plus you get some inspiration from what other members are making. Sewing machines, overlockers and tea and coffee will be provided. Max. 3 students. There is currently availability on the Wednesday morning class from 10-12pm. Please contact me regarding further information and costs. Private sewing tuition If you feel more comfortable learning on your own, then you might want to try private sewing tuition. All my classes can be taught as 1-2-1 lessons at a time and date that suits you, either in my workshop or at your home. Costs: 12/hour

Sewing workshops for kids/teens Tote bag workshop Wednesday, 3 rd August 1-3.30pm -fully booked- Costs: 18 In this workshop you will make your own individual tote bag. First you will be shown how to use a sewing machine before we start making the bag. We then will cut out the pattern pieces and use the sewing machine to sew the bag together. Materials: all included. Every child will have his/her own sewing machine, max. 4 pupils per workshop. Age 8+. There will be a short break and a snack is provided. Cushion workshop Friday, 12 th August 1-3.30pm -fully booked- Costs: 18 Would you like to make your own personalised cushion? Then come along to this workshop. Together we will cut out the pattern pieces and you will be shown how to sew it together using a sewing machine. You can also embellish your cushion to give it that extra personal touch. Materials: all included. Every child will have his/her own sewing machine, max. 4 pupils per workshop, age 8+. There will be a short break and a snack is provided. Sewing a zipped pencil case Friday, 29 th July 1-3pm -fully booked - Costs: 15 This workshop is all about making your own individual zipped pencil case. Together we will cut out your fabric, embellish it with ribbons and other things if you like before sewing it together on the sewing machine. Materials: all included. Every child will have his/her own sewing machine, max. 4 pupils per workshop. There will be a short break and a snack is provided

Cosmetic bag for teens Monday, 15 th August 10-12pm 2 spaces left - Costs: 18 In this workshop we will be sewing a lined, zipped cosmetic bag. We will cut out the patterns pieces, use interfacing to stabilise the fabric and then sew the zip in. There are plenty of fabrics to choose from, so you can make your own individual cosmetic bag. Materials: all included. Sewing machines provided, max. 4 pupils per workshop. Age 12+. There will be a short break and a snack is provided. All children will be shown how to safely use the sewing machine at the start of every class.
