WARNING Electric Bikes can be dangerous to use. The user or consumer assumes all risk of personal injuries, damage, or failure of the bicycle or system and all other losses or damages to themselves and others and to any property arising as a result of using the bicycle. As with all mechanical components, the bicycle is subjected to wear and high stresses. Different materials and components may react to wear or stress fatigue in different ways. If the design life of a component has been exceeded, it may suddenly fail possibly causing injuries to the rider. Any form of crack, scratches or change of coloring in highly stressed areas indicate that the life of the component has been reached and it should be replaced. For replacement parts, technical information and warranty assistance, please contact E-Glilde at 310-396-1453 or at info@e-glide.com SAFETY Helmet: Always wear an approved helmet while riding your SS Ebike and follow the helmet manufacturer s instructions for fit, use and care of your helmet. Mechanical Safety Check: Check the condition of your SS Ebike before every ride. Make sure no nuts, bolts or fixings are loose, with particular attention to the axle nuts and handlebar stem. Make sure the tires are correctly inflated with the recommended air pressure that is located on the side wall of every tire. check the brakes for proper operation. Your First Ride: When you buckle on your helmet and go for your first ride, be sure to pick an area away from cars, other cyclists, obstacles or other hazards in order to become familiar with the controls, features and performance of your new SS Ebike. Additional Passengers: The SS Ebike is designed for one passenger only. DO NOT carry any additional passengers on the front or rear of the bike. 3

IMPORTANT!!! 1.Turn bike off before dismounting. There is a chance if the bike is left on, and you are walking it, that the pedals can move, engaging the powerful electric motor. This results in the bike flipping. Be sure to shut the bike off when walking it, before you walk it. 2.Tires will loose air pressure over time. Check your tire pressure everytime you ride. Keep inflated to 65 PSI. 3.Be sure when making fast tight turns your feet are not extending out in front of the pedals. In some instances, your foot may hit the front wheel on a hard turn if your foot extends too far forward. 4.When riding at higher speeds, be more aware as things will happen faster! The SS Ebike is designed with a maximum weight capacity of 250 pounds. TURNING ON 1.Turn battery on. On the bottom of the battery, there is an off/on switch. Make sure it is in on position. is on. 4

2.Turn power on. Depress On Button until it lights up. (straight line) is on. 3.If the battery is fully charged, all four green lights will shine. 4.When power is demanded, the LED s on the battery gauge indicate instantaneous line voltage as measured at the battery terminals-not the available energy in the battery pack. Under a load, the line voltage will drop, and the green indicator lights will reduce. When power is disengaged, the green LED s on the display will indicate the voltage of the battery pack. The voltage will rise when no load is on the motor.the best indication of how much battery life is remaining is to check the throttle LED s after reaching cruising speed, o a flat straight road, as this will allow the battery voltage to stabilize and give a much more accurate reading. NOTE: BIKE IS SHIPPED WITH A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY 5

PEDAL ASSIST / THROTTLE CONTROL Select pedal assist powersetting, low, medium, or high. As you pedal, the power will kick in, experiment with the different settings. The throttle control is operated on the right hand side. You control the throttle by twisting it from its resting position. The farther the throttle switch is from its resting position, the more power is delivered to the motor to accelerate the bike. When you want to slow down, you simply release the throttle and let it return to its resting position and simultaneously apply the brakes. The SS Ebike also comes with a Throttle Override function which allows the throttle to work in pedal assist modes. 6

BIKE CARE Periodically clean your SS E-Bike with a damp cloth. Avoid spraying the bike with a water hose to avoid electrical issues. Store your bike in a dry shelter area away from direct sunlight and wet or damp environment. It is also recommended to apply chain lube (such as Tri-Flow or ProLink) to the drivetrain of your bike when you clean it or wipe it down to keep it in good running condition. FAQ s How fast does it go? The SS has a top speed of 20 MPH without pedaling. Of course it will go faster if you peddle.the 36 volt battery pack and high torque geared hub motor means you go from 0-20 MPH rapidly but the bike is limited to a 20 MPH top speed. This makes the bike legal, no registration, insurance, or license is needed to operate it. How far can I go? What is the distance I can go on a single charge? There are many variables that effect range, hills, rider weight, road surface, wind resistance, air pressure in the tires, and speed. We experience 20-25 miles per charge on the flats, no pedaling. The more you pedal, the less power the motor consumes, and the longer you will travel. With pedal assist on low power, you can achieve a 40 plus mile range. How does the bike handle hills? Performance on hills depends on the steepness of the hill and the weight load on the bike. While you will zoom right up most hills, In some instances, people will need to use both the pedal and the motor to go uphill. The bike does surprisingly well on hills. How much power does it have? The SS has a 350 watt gearless hub motor, that is equivalent in power to a professional cyclist. 7

How do you control the motor? The SS is equipped with both a throttle and a pedal sensor. You can use either system to control the speed of the electric motor. If you want to cruise without pedaling the thumb throttle can be used. If you enjoy pedaling and want to feel more like you are riding a regular bike (with an awesome silent electric motor) you can use the pedal sensor. What are the running costs for the SS Ebike? You will have no worries about rising fuel prices at the pumps. All our electrically powered vehicles use household electricity. The average cost per full charge is about 10 cents per charge. If you charge the battery every single day for a year, it would cost you about $35 per year. What happens if I get a flat tire? The tires on our bikes are the same as conventional bicycles. Simply replace the tube with a tube of the right size and inflate it. No special tires or parts will be needed. Does the battery have a memory effect? No. The battery has no memory effect unlike other battery chemistries meaning you can charge your battery after each and every use, even if you just take a spin down the block. The battery is completely self managing and the charger stops automatically when the battery is fully charged. How long does it take to charge the battery? On average the battery takes 4-6 hours to charge with the included 2 amp charger. Do I have to wait for the battery to empty before I charge it? No. The batteries we use are Lithium-ion batteries which do not suffer from memory effect. This means that there is no need to discharge a battery completely before you recharge it again. You can partially recharge the battery at any time without reducing its voltage or lifespan. We recommend recharging the battery after every use, regardless of how far you rode. How do I know when the battery is low? The SS has easily visible indicators that show the amount of juice left. If it is getting low and you don t think you will make it to your destination, you can switch off your motor and keep it just for the difficult bits. 8

Do I have to pedal? No. There is both a throttle and a pedal assist system. You can pedal and the electric motor will kick in and provide you with assistance, and there is also a thumb throttle that will override the pedal assist and allow you to ride the SS more like a motorcycle, only silent! The level of pedal assistance will determine how much boost power the motor provides based on your peddling input. Level 1 will be just a little and level 3 will get you moving like a pro cyclist. The throttle is always 0-100% power depending on how much you twist. Is it street legal? Electric bikes that only go 20 MPH under power only are considered bicycles and can be used in the same way as a pedal only bicycle in most locations, no license, insurance, or registration is required. What is the maximum rider weight? We ve tested the bike up to 250lbs, we cannot make any guarantees about performance or durability above that weight. How much does the bike weigh? The bike weighs approximately 33lbs without the battery, 39 pounds with the battery. How much does the battery weigh? The battery weighs 6 pounds. How loud is the electric motor? The motor is extremely quiet, one of the quietest available on an ebike. What type of motor does the bike come with? We use an ultra quiet free spinning brushless geared hub motor which is highly efficient with proven reliability. Is the battery removable? Yes, the battery can be removed for storage, charging, and safety reasons, in seconds. Can someone steal the battery? A key is required to remove the battery to prevent theft. 9

How much assembly is required? Assembly is extremely simple requiring only the following steps. 1. Insert and tighten front wheel. 2. Attach handlebars and tighten stem. 3. Insert and tighten seatpost. 4. Install pedals How much maintenance is required? Due to the single speed design, maintenance is simple. The major components requiring maintenance are the chain and tires. Mechanical components that can be serviced or replaced at any quality bike shop. The electrical components are warranted and are easily swappable in the unlikely event that you have any issues. How many cycles will the battery last? The Lithium-Ion battery included with your e-bike is comprised of high quality Samsung 18650 cells wich are rated to last more than 800 cycles. Aggressive riding and improper storage can lead to shorter lifespans. A full cycle is considered one complete discharge, so if you only discharge the battery halfway before recharging normally, your battery will provide twice as many charge cycles before degenerating. Does it work in the rain? The components are all water resistant and work very well in wet conditions but you should take care to keep your bike parked indoors whenever possible and in a dry location when in storage. Can the bike be picked up in Los Angeles to save shipping costs? Yes, the bike can be picked up in our Santa Monica shop M-F 9-5. 10

BATTERY MAINTENCE & CHARGING 1.What to do when you receive your new Ebike/battery Your Ebike will arrive with a fully charged battery. There is a on/off switch on the bottom of the battery that needs to be turned on. Failure to properly use, charge, and store your battery as instructed will void the warranty and may cause a hazardous situation. Before using your battery for the first time, read this section of the manual in its entirety. If you have any questions about this battery or its usage, please contact E-Glide- Tech at 310-396-1453. Proper maintenance and care of batteries will maximize their lifespan and capacity. E-Glide warrants your new battery from the date of purchase for one year only if properly cared for please refer to the limited warranty for details. 2.Keep your lithium battery charged Lithium batteries are generally best kept fully charged, even after journeys of just a few miles. Completely discharging a lithium battery regularly will significantly reduce its ability to hold a charge, diminishing its capacity. If you do "flatten" your battery fully re-charge it as soon as possible. 3.Keep your lithium batteries cool The lithium powder inside the battery cells decreases its electrical resistance as it warms up. This means that in warmer conditions your battery will discharge more quickly and will need charging more often. You should notice that on cold days your bike will travel less far and this is due to this same property of lithium powder - its resistance increases with colder conditions. This means that you will travel further on warmer days. High temperatures especially reduce overall battery life and run time. A lithium battery is best stored in cold conditions where its internal resistance is greatest and will remain fully charged for longer. Camera batteries made of lithium are often recommended by manufacturers to be stored in the fridge to prolong their life. This isn't as easy with e-bike batteries! Store your e-bike battery in as cold a place as possible. 11

While storing batteries in cool conditions is good, always remember to warm the battery to room temperature before charging, charging from frozen can damage the battery. 4. Is it normal that the battery and/or battery charger gets warm when recharging? Yes, it is normal that the battery will become warm to the touch during the recharging process. This is because of the pack s internal resistance and losses in energy conversion efficiency from electric energy to chemical energy. 5.How many cycles will the battery last? The Lithium-Ion battery included with your e-bike is comprised of high quality Samsung 18650 cells wich are rated to last more than 800 cycles. Aggressive riding, poor battery maintenance, and improper storage can lead to shorter lifespans. A full cycle is considered one complete discharge, so if you only discharge the battery halfway before recharging normally, your battery will last for twice as many as charge cycles. To ensure you get the most life out of your battery please follow these guidelines. 6.Does my battery have a memory? No, Li-Ion batteries do not have any memory. Partial discharge/charge cycles will not harm the battery s capacity or performance. It is OK to charge the battery as often as is convenient. 7.Charging Be sure to read any documentation included with the battery charger, or printed on the charger itself. After a ride, fully recharge your battery as soon as it has cooled to room temperature. A lithium-ion battery left in a discharged condition will deteriorate much faster than a fully charged battery. The battery charger supplied with this battery is for INDOOR use only. Avoid any contact with water or other fluids while charging the battery. If the battery, charger or any connections become wet, immediately unplug the charger and thoroughly dry all components prior to charging the battery. 12

Use only the battery charger supplied with this battery. If you use any other battery charger, you will void the warranty, you may damage the battery, and you could cause a fire. Never charge a battery continuously for more than 24 hours. 8.Storage If you know you will not be using your battery for a few months then it is wise to take some extra precautions: The rate at which a lithium battery self-discharges (goes flat) is highest when fully charged and lowest when almost flat. So over a long time your battery will loose capacity least by being partly discharged. However almost flattening a battery we know is a bad thing to do. A compromise that reduces the loss of capacity over time, yet still preserves the battery, is to store it at about 80% charge. You can estimate this by riding your e-bike for about 20% of the normal full-charge time or distance. It's best then to store the battery in the coldest convenient place you can find, the recommended storage temperature for Li-Ion batteries is between 32-77F, and then, if possible, give short charges every 5 to 10 weeks. 9.Transport Lithium-ion batteries are subject to many regulations, and are often considered dangerous material by carriers. Be sure to check for relevant laws, and ask the carrier for approval prior to shipping a lithium-ion battery, or transporting it by air. 10.Disposal Be friendly to the environment! Be sure to recycle your old batteries at a local battery-recycling center. Do not throw them in the garbage! Check www.call2recycle.org for more information on free battery drop off locations. 1739 Ocean Park Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 90405 www.e-glidebike.com info@e-glide.com (310)396-1453 13
