CPAP Accessories CPAP MEDICOMP molds the CPAP Nasal Cannulas from soft pliant silicone for the utmost patient comfort. The two short angled tubes insert easily into the infants nostrils. And they can remain in place for prolonged periods without irritation. The CPAP Nasal Cannulas are held in place with the specially designed infant cap shown below. The cap is made with integral cloth ties that attach to corresponding holes in the CPAP Cannula. This unique arrangement holds tubes securely in the infants nostrils while providing patient warmth. The cloth tie design also eliminates the problems of torn skin and pulled hair commonly encountered with adhesive tape attachment methods. Nursing staffs report fewer dislodgments and less patient irritation when using MEDlCOMP s CPAP Nasal Cannula. The MEDICOMP design allows your nursing staff to perform routine care procedures without interrupting CPAP therapy. This frees up staff time. CPAP/Nasal Infant Nasal CPAP is on the rise As many as ten percent of all babies born in the US can benefit from some degree of breathing support. For some infants treatment is only needed for a few hours while for others it may be needed for several months. CPAP has been widely used with these infants to reduce their work of breathing. Nasal CPAP is growing in popularity because it avoids intubation or tracheotomization, decreases the risk of nosocomial pneumonia; decreases sedation requirements; and improves the ability to tolerate enteral feeds. Fits popular brands of nasal prongs Many babies can benefit from NCPAP including: infants ventilated using real nasal prongs infants weaning from mechanical ventilation premature infants that don t require ventilation infants with an increased work of breathing Proper fit is key to minimizing irritation and trauma to the nares and nasal septum. Cannulaide is sized to fit the cannula. This helps keep the prongs straight and positioned in the nares, away from the sides. The pressure seal is maintained by Cannulaide rather than the infant s nose so there is no need for the prongs to touch the nose. Cannulaide works with leading cannulae to provide a reliable, observable air seal. Cannulaide is translucent to aid in inspecting the condition of the patient s nares, which should be done frequently. A good seal from the first breath is essential to effective nasal CPAP. The Cannulaide nasal seal: fits infants from 400g to 4Kg replaces a seal you may have been making by hand provides a positive seal the first time, every time is sized to fit popular nasal cannulae may reduce irritation of the patient s nose includes special Velcro that is soft and formulated to adhere to silicone rubber cannulae Product # Description Packaging #DR-CA100 Cannulaide Size #0 for babies <700g 25/Bx #DR-CA101 Cannulaide Size #1 for babies 700-1250g 25/Bx #DR-CA102 Cannulaide Size #2 for babies 1250-2000g 25/Bx #DR-CA103 Cannulaide Size #3 for babies 2000-3000g 25/Bx #DR-CA104 Cannulaide Size #4 for babies > 3000g 25/Bx #DR-CA110 Cannulaide Starter Package* 25/Bx *Package contains 10 size #1, 10 size #2, 3 size #3 and 2 size #4 Note: Cannulaide is not available for sale in all states.
