the new dna of high strength glass ceramics 1

the new dna of high strength glass ceramics Together with the Fraunhofer Institute and VITA, we have developed a new class of materials for high-strength glassceramics from zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate: ZLS. zls The outstanding properties of ZLS are a function of its unique microstructure. Properties of ZLS 1 2 3 High glass content High translucency, opalescence, fluorescence 10% zirconia High mean flexural strength Very small lithium silicate crystals Ultra-fine microstructure Microstructures compared ZLS LS 2 The inclusion of 10% zirconia results in four times smaller lithium silicate crystals in ZLS. The result is an ultra-fine microstructure which combines high average flexural strength with a high glass content. Glass with completely dissolved zirconia Lithium silicate crystals, 500 700 nm Glass Lithium disilicate crystals, 2000 4000 nm 2

Clinical benefits of ZLS 1 2 3 Esthetic Chameleon effect and opalescence Strong For safety and long-term stability Fast Efficient, rapid processing To tap these benefits for dental offices and laboratories, we took ZLS as the starting point for the development of a new high-strength allceramic system: 3

Esthetic, STRONG, FAST Composed of lithium metasilicate, lithium disilicate and lithium phosphate crystals, the specific CELTRA properties rely on its threefold functional microstructure. CELTRA stands for successful all-ceramic restorations: 1 2... with exceptional esthetics.. with outstanding strength An increased glass content visibly improves esthetics by facilitating in-depth opalescence and fluorescence. The dissolution of zirconia does not cloud the glass and reinforces the glass matrix. In combination with the presence of the glassceramic crystals, this results in very high strength. Opalescence Load at fracture, anterior crowns MEDIAN LOAD AT FRACTURE [N] 800 700 600 500 400 300 200 100 0 766 725 701 554 485 372 CELTRA e.max Vita Mark II Before artificial aging After artificial aging Thermal cycling (5 C 55 C), 6000 cycles, followed by 1.2 million chewing cycles at 70 N. 4 Source: S. 3... in a minimum of time No extra investment! The very small glass-ceramic crystals (less than 1 µm) allow the material to be finished and polished in its final crystallized, tooth-coloured state. An additional crystallization as with lithium disilicate is not required. No capital investment in new equipment is required either at the lab or the dental office. The same furnaces and milling units can be used as for conventional CEREC blanks. No extra hardware investment No extra software investment Easy processing No extra investment for complementary products In this way, a pure-bred chairside procedure becomes feasible. The already excellent esthetics appearance can customized by staining, and the strength of the restoration can be increased by a glaze-firing cycle. 5

CELTRA: THE SYSTEM AT A GLANCE CELTRA for the dental laboratory labside Pre-crystallized, high strength (420 MPa) Customization options: ceramic veneering or staining, 360 veneers using the cut-back technique or simple staining. High strength (more than 300 MPa), three-unit bridges up to and including the premolars, simple to process, easy to polish. 6

FORGIVING 3 Technique Robustness XP BOND has shown promise, as it is relatively insensitive to the amount of residual dentin moisture. This characteristic can effectively widen the window of opportunity for bonding to demineralized dentin, and can generate a system with excellent dentin adhesion under a wide range of clinical conditions. (M. Latta) 1 Classic Etch&Rinse Adhesives require an optimum level of dentin moisture to reach their full potential. However, this is difficult to achieve and can lead to insufficient bond strength and post-operative sensitivities. XP BOND is forgiving! It offers extra Performance even under different levels of dentin moisture. Less worries for better results!
