1930 Establishment of Viajes Iberia, a company mainly dedicated to the organization and sale of individual, group and incentive trips, later extending its activity to inbound tourism traffic. 1973 Creation of tour operator Iberojet with the aim of commercializing package holidays to Spanish and foreign destinations. 1979 Start of international activity with the opening of Iberotravel, Ltd., an inbound travel agency with offices in London and Manchester. Later, this company would change its name to Iberoservice Internacional. The same name would be used some years later for national and international inbound activity. 1980 Creation of Visit US, Inc., an inbound agency with headquarters in the United States and branches in Miami and Orlando, designed to cater to customers of Iberojet and British tourism group ILG. 1986 Opening of the first hotels under the IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts brand in Majorca and the Canary Islands to satisfy the high demand for family tourism coming from Central Europe. 1991 Creation of Sunworld, the first tour operator in England with mainly Spanish capital. Tour operator Iberojet begins its international growth establishing itself in the majority of Latin American countries in order to commercialize package holidays to Europe and other destinations. 1998 Iberworld is born, an airline specializing in charter flights with bases in Palma de Majorca, Madrid and Tenerife, to provide service to Iberojet as well as other European tour operators. Iberworld s modern fleet consists of eight Airbus 320 planes for medium distance routes and three Airbus 330 planes for transatlantic routes between Spain and the Caribbean. 2001 Creation of Iberojet Cruceros, a company composed of two modern cruise ships, particularly aimed at this area of the Spanish market. 2006 Sale of GRUPO IBEROSTAR s outbound companies: tour operator Iberojet along with other brands like Solplan, Turavia and Viva Tours, Iberworld airline, Iberojet Cruceros, and the network of Viajes Iberia retail branches with more than 500 points of sale spread throughout Spain.
