Applicants must: Be graduates in medicine from a university or medical school approved by the CPSBC; Have postgraduate training appropriate for the practice and approval by the CPSBC; Have success on examinations acceptable to the MCC; Provide evidence of English proficiency, e.g. TOEFL or IELTS completed within the last 2 years; and Source verification of supporting documents. Application Process Steps leading to an immigration application include: Application to Health Match BC We obtain preliminary assessment from the CPSBC Referral to the health employer (health authority/hiring community) Negotiations between physician and health employer Job offer/acceptance Sidney, Vancouver Island, BC

Next Steps Health employer/hiring community make a formal request for temporary licensure from the CPSBC and Confirmation of Need from the BC Ministry of Health. Upon receipt of CPSBC letter and Confirmation of Need, the physician will apply for permanent residency through the BC Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Upon receipt of a work permit support letter from PNP, physician will apply to Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) for a work permit. All physicians and family members are required to have an immigration medical.
