Independent Living As we get older, many of us are faced with the prospect of reviewing our housing arrangements. Thinking about starting afresh with somewhere new to call home can be exciting and liberating planning ahead can give you more choices for the future, making a big difference to your quality of life and levels of independence.
If you re finding your home has become too big for your needs, or if the upkeep and maintenance is overwhelming, now may be exactly the right time to find out about your choices. While it may feel more comfortable to put off thinking about it until later, the earlier you consider your changing needs, the more choices and control you will have over your future living arrangements. Perhaps you re already starting to need some help and support in your own home, but you wish to retain your independence. As well as considering your current needs, it is also important to take into account how these may change over time. Living in a Yarlington retirement property is designed to enable you to enjoy a healthier, active and more independent lifestyle in a community setting. Typically, a scheme consists of a group of self-contained bungalows or flats for rent, with communal areas and facilities. All our residents can expect a safe, secure future, renting an affordable quality home with a wide range of social opportunities to enjoy and a level of support to maintain independence. For your peace of mind, you also get the added security of having someone to call on in emergencies.
Perfect Choice It is the choices that you make today that create the life that you enjoy tomorrow.
To decide if a move to a Yarlington scheme is right for you or your loved ones, it is important to know what choices you have and why we place so much emphasis on helping you to live independently. Retirement Living Our schemes ensure independence, privacy and comfort for people in retirement, with a range of services for when you need them most. Some residents may need more support than others and may also have care provided through social services, voluntary provision, support agencies, family and friends. Other residents may only need help from time to time.
We offer 1 or 2 bedroom bungalows or apartments on retirement schemes located throughout South Somerset. In addition to a well-designed home of your own, many of our schemes include the benefits of living in a community with like-minded, independent people. A typical scheme usually includes a communal lounge and garden, laundry facilities and the reassurance that comes from having someone close by to call on when it matters most. Many schemes also have an all-important social dimension. Residents often enjoy regular coffee mornings, bingo, whist drives, entertainments, religious services and outings. Each scheme is managed by Yarlington staff who have various roles: to oversee the day to day running of the site including assisting with residents activities and focus groups; to identify any additional support needs; to ensure cleanliness of communal areas and to carry out Health & Safety checks. When there is no physical presence of staff, residents have peace of mind that every property is linked to a control centre so that help can be summoned 24 hours a day. For those that require a little extra help, we have retirement schemes that offer an enhanced level of support. Here we encourage residents to live independently in a home of their own and to manage their own affairs, for as long as possible even when they have high level care and support needs. For many it can delay the need for residential or nursing home care. Be open to thinking about moving It might be worth considering moving to a new home, in a more convenient location, in better repair and easier to maintain. We are here to help you find a suitable home and to assist with all that s involved from packing to finances and arranging the move itself. care
