1: GENERAL A1 Motor home Hire & Rental Terms & Conditions PLEASE READ CAREFULLY Collecting and Returning the Motor Home A helpful hint: If possible try not to start your holiday on the same day you collect your vehicle. We need to show you exactly how to get the most out of your motor home and this may take some time. It is essential that the hirer should be given a thorough introduction to the rental vehicle by our experts before the journey begins. Please allow up to 1 hour for your handover. Since the times for collecting and returning motor homes are carefully planned, please return your motor home on time. A penalty of 25-per hour is payable for time between expiry of the rent agreement and the return of your vehicle (maximum penalty is daily rental charge). Should the late return of the vehicle make us liable for extra costs (e.g. compensation for the next hirer), we reserve the right to pass on these costs to you. Please return your vehicle on time! Bed linen/ Kitchen Equipment Please ensure you bring your own bed linen, blankets, pillows, towels etc. You MUST cover our upholstery; failure to do so may result in a dry cleaning charge. For people travelling overseas we can make bedding arrangements, at an additional charge of 12 per head. Equipment, such as camping table, chairs and BBQ are included- please see inventory list. Your motor home will include all crockery and other kitchen equipment. Replacement Vehicles If your chosen motor home is not available, we reserve the right to offer you a suitable alternative vehicle in its place. This may be of similar size to the vehicle requested or larger and will be similarly equipped. In this event the hirer is not liable for higher rental charges. If a smaller vehicle is offered and accepted, the difference in charges will be refunded. If a larger vehicle is offered, we are not liable for additional expenses (e.g. higher ferry charges or road tolls).
The hirer may travel in any European countries. Travel in countries outside Europe is only possible after prior agreement with A1 Motorhome Hire. Written confirmation from us and an additional insurance premium are required before beginning the journey. The hirer may not travel in war or disaster zones. 2. DRIVING LICENCES No one other than the drivers named on the insurance proposal form may drive the hired vehicle Drivers must be over 25 and under 75 years of age and have held a full driving license for at least 2 years. Drivers under 25 and over 70 will incur an additional insurance premium charge, which may be refused by our insurer; further details obtainable from A1 Motorhome Hire. The drivers licence must be unendorsed (except for speeding and parking offences) and must be produced at the time of collecting the vehicle. Visitors from abroad must hold a current international driving permit or license (Foreign license holders will incur an additional insurance premium charge and a security bond payment is required). Any current endorsements (within 3 years) will incur an additional insurance premium charge. Two forms of identity must be produced by all hirers at the start of the hire: one must include Full driving licence and the other form preferably a passport, or if that is not possible, government ID card, utility bill or bank statement. 3. INSURANCE Fully Comprehensive insurance is included within the hire charge. The vehicle is insured for the period of hire contracted ONLY, thus late return of the vehicle would incur a traffic offence under the road traffic act. Hirers are advised to take out additional personal holiday insurance. A 1000 excess payable by the hirer is applied to all claims. We reserve the right to obtain a pre-approval of any amount up to the insurance excess against the drivers or hirers credit card. Visitors from overseas must pay a security bond prior to collection of the vehicle. The security bond is usually refunded 7-10 days after the vehicle has been returned in a satisfactory condition. Please note there is a supplement of 70.00 per week if the vehicle is taken out of UK and Ireland. If the hirer fails to inform us they will loose the deposit in full. 4. BOOKING DETAILS A 250 non-refundable deposit is payable at time of booking for hires of 3-7days, a larger deposit may be payable for hires of 7days+ The Hire Balance AND Security Deposit of 1000 MUST be paid on/prior to the collection of the vehicle. Please allow 5working days prior to pick up for BACS, cheque & card payments, for cleared funds.
Please be aware all card transactions attract a 2% processing fee. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. Security Deposits will be refunded within 5working days of your return date, subject to a satisfactory vehicle inspection. However if quoted need to be obtained for damage or replacement parts caused by the hirer this may take longer. Credit card details will be held for up to 6 months before being destroyed. 5. BREAKDOWNS In the unlikely event of a breakdown, A1 Motorhome Hire requests they are contacted immediately and when advised to do so, the hirer seeks the help of our registered breakdown company only, quoting the registration number of the vehicle. Hirers are authorised to request repairs up to the value of 50. Repairs costing in excess of 50 must first be authorised by A1 Motorhome Hire PRIOR to the work being undertaken. Every effort will be made to ensure your vehicle is repaired and back on the road as soon as possible. At our discretion we may refund you per day lost of your holiday pro rata, however no further losses will be compensated. Should the vehicle be unrepairable on site, the breakdown recovery vehicle will recover both the motor home and all passengers back to our premises. The daily rate will be then be refunded, however should you decide to carry on with your trip no further compensation will be due. A1 Motor home Hire has full UK/ Ireland & Mainland Continental European Breakdown Cover 6. THE HIRER AGREES THAT HE OR SHE a) Shall not carry more passengers than the seating capacity of the vehicle or allow the vehicle to be overloaded. (6 SEATS & 6 SEATBELTS) b) Shall not have any more occupants sleeping than designed for (i.e.) 2 x Adults and 4 x Children or 4 x Adults maximum c) Shall not use the vehicle for carrying passengers or goods for hire or reward d) Will be responsible to A1 Motorhome Hire for the cost of making good and damage caused to the vehicle caused by improper use. e) Is responsible for any fines (including parking fines) which may be incurred during the hire period. f) Shall not, without consent from A1 Motorhome Hire, remove the vehicle out of the UK mainland or Ireland. See point 3 re; insurance. g) Understands that no claim by the hirer for loss or damage to personal belongings or effects of the hirer or any person or persons will be considered. h) Understands that any damage to the interior of the vehicle (including cigarette burns) living or cooking equipment will be charged to the hirer in all
cases and is not insurable. Damage to tyres, windows and windscreens are also not covered by insurance. 7. PERIOD OF HIRE The times and dates of the contract of hire must be strictly adhered to No refund will be given for early return of your vehicle 8. CANCELLATIONS All cancellations must be in writing. All deposits are non-refundable, but may be transferable, at our discretion. All monies due and received within 6 weeks of the commencement of hire are not refundable, except the insurance excess/damage bond, which is refundable provided that no other sums are unpaid by way of deposit or otherwise. A1 Motorhome Hire reserves the right to cancel hire if, at the commencement of hire, the driver s licences are invalid or not according to the conditions set out above. In these circumstances the total hire charge will be forfeited. Hirers are strongly advised to insure against unavoidable cancellation. 9. LIABILITIES The hirer is responsible for all costs and expenses incurred as a result of offences against the Road Traffic Act. The hirer is also liable for any uninsurable damages including tyres, windscreen and any internal damages or breakages. The hirer will indemnify A1 Motorhome Hire from any liability. TOLL CHARGES must be paid in full at time of journey or a fine of 40 each way is applied by the EFLOW Toll company or counterparts in Europe. We will add credit card charges and an admin fee to process. Customers using tolls in the EU and ROI must bring A1Motorhome hire a receipt of payment of tolls before security deposit is refunded. This the sole responsibility of the hirer. Failure to provide receipt evidence may result in a portion of the deposit to be held for a further 3 months. 10. ANIMALS All animals, other than guide dogs, have to be approved by A1 Motorhome Hire at the time of booking. If approved, all damage howsoever caused by the animals, will be charged to the hirer in full. 11. PARKING The hirer may park, free of charge and at his/her own risk, one car at the collection location for the period of the hire.
12. COLLECTION AND RETURN Vehicles are available for collection Monday to Saturday, unless otherwise arranged with A1 Motorhome Hire. Hiring s start and finish at the collection location, unless otherwise agreed. Collection times: must be arranged in advance Return times: must be arranged in advance Collection or return times which fall outside the dates and times given must be agreed with us. The return of the vehicle is confirmed in writing, signed by the hirer and A1 Motor home Hire. Collection and return days are charged as per day, or half day at our discretion. 13. PENALTIES Cassette Toilet System must be returned as at collection- Emptied, Cleaned & with the correct chemical. Unemptied toilets will incur a 100 penalty. Fresh water tanks must be kept topped up- if left to run dry the system will need bled & may be damaged. A1 Motor home Hire reserve the right to impose a 50 valet penalty if the vehicle is returned in a condition unsuitable for habitation. Please return your motor home in the same condition you collect it A starter supply of toilet chemical, gas & BBQ gas (where applicable) are provided upon collection. However, refills or further amounts of same are at the hirers own expense. A specified quantity of diesel is in the vehicle upon collection- you must return the vehicle with this same amount. If the vehicle is returned short of diesel, time for refuelling & cost of fuel is chargeable Smoking is strictly prohibited in all our motor homes & if the hirer is suspected to have been smoking in the vehicle, a 250 penalty will be applied. Hirer authorises that their credit card may be charged for penalties, parking and driving offences and the insurance excess payable. We also reserve the right to charge for loss of hire due to repairs caused during your hire @ 150.00 per day, to be taken from the deposit. Please also note if we have to obtain quotes for damage caused to the vehicle during your hire period, your security deposit refund may be delayed. Mileage allowed is 150 miles per day. If you exceed this, on average over the duration of your hire period, you will be subject to a charge of 0.15 per mile Minimum hire period is 3 days, unless otherwise agreed.
A1 Motor home Hire reserve the right to vary the rates and conditions of hire at any time and to decline hire to any person at any time without reason, this includes the right to change vehicles when necessary.
