SAFETY PRECAUTIONS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: These instructions are to ensure you use this electric product safely and prevent you and associates from the risk of damage or hazard. Please read and follow carefully all indicated Warnings and instructions. Warnings : failure to follow these warnings may result in death or severe injury. Always put a cup underneath the outlets when rinsing the machine. Ensure electrical plugs are clean and free of dust. It can cause an electric shock, short circuit or fire. Unplug the cable when the machine is not in use to avoid the risk of injury, burn, electric shock, electric leak or fire caused by dielectric degradation. Do not damage, destroy, remodel, bend, pull or twist the power plug forcedly. The plug can be damaged and cause fire or electric shock by placing heavy objects on it, taking it apart or modifying it. Do not handle plug with wet hands. Plug the machine only into mains voltage of 230 V - 50 Hz. Do not place coffee box near objects which could be affected by magnet. The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use. Advised usage: Insert the plug in a socket which is properlywired. When using an extension cord, do not put many loads on one outlet. It can result in fire caused by abnormal heat. In the event that the plug and cord get hot, stop using the machine immediately (do not use the machine abroad). Do not unplug the machine by pulling the cord. It can cause a short circuit. Do not touch the plug with wet hands. It can cause an electric shock. This appliance is intended to be used in household only. It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee may not apply for: - staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; - farm houses; - by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; This machine can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the machine in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised by an adult. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or its service agent. The appliance must not be immersed. Do not put anything (hot water, milk, alcohol etc) other than potable water in the water tank. It can dirty or clog the inside of the machine and cause failure. We recommend the usage of soft water. Do not use the machine near fire or place it on hot surfaces (e.g. on top of electric hot plate). It can cause a fire. Clean machine periodically according to instructions in chapter «CLEANING». When cleaning the machine, unplug the machine and let it cool down. Do not clean the machine while it is still hot. You can burn yourself. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS The manufacturer is not liable for damage The coffee box is equipped with a permanent caused by improper use of the machine or magnet. Do not put a load on the machine and do not squeeze the machine in between two shelves. This could lead to damage. Further instructions: In some situations the machine requires a rinsing cycle. Before operating again, put a cup underneath the outlets. Drawer can only be inserted when the mixing chamber is inserted and locked. We recommend the use of NESCAFÉ GOLD, which has been tested with NESCAFÉ GOLD BLEND Barista system and particularly suits it. The system is not designed for fine soluble coffee (like for instance NESCAFÉ Espresso), nor agglomerated soluble coffee powder (like for instance NESCAFÉ Classic), and as well not for R&G coffee. Upon use of those coffee, the system will be blocked.

Perform a rinse with water tank filled to maximum level (approx. 1 L). Put drinking water in the tank. Never put any liquid other than potable water in the tank! Remove coffee box. Place coffee box as shown and remove cap. Re-attach coffee box cap. Insert coffee box back to machine. The logo faces forwards. If you have difficulty to insert back coffee tank, please refer to section TROUBLESHOOTING, page 21. Place a cup. Remove drip tray when using a big mug. Touch the desired menu icon. 67 6i We recommend using NESCAFÉ GOLD Barista Style coffee which is suited and tested for the NESCAFÉ GOLD BLEND Barista system. Alternatively, other freeze-dried coffee options can also be used. Maximum filling volume for coffee tank: 0 g 73 74 7i Close top cover. Fine powdered coffee is not recommended to be used in the NESCAFÉ GOLD BLEND Barista system as it will result in blockage issues. Coffee powder is adversely affected by high temperatures and humidity. Please store it in a sealed container in a cool and dry location. Also, the coffee powder in the coffee tank should be used in good time, preferably within one month. The selected menu icon flashes. The extraction starts and stops automatically. To stop the extraction partway through, touch selected menu icon again and wait until light stops blinking. When selected menu icon stops flashing your coffee is ready. All lights are steady green. Enjoy your coffee. CAUTION! Your coffee will be hot! To heat up the cup before preparing coffee touch Cappuccino and Americano icon simultaneously. CAUTION! Hot water will flow out! Afterwards throw away water and continue with step 1. 6 7

PREPARING BEVERAGES INDIVIDUAL ADJUSTMENTS TO YOUR PERSONAL TASTE Milk coffee options You can adjust the strength of the coffee by changing the amount of hot water: Latte Macchiato Cappuccino 81 Pour milk* into the supplied measuring cup: - Latte Macchiato: 60 ml - Cappuccino: 50 ml 82 Pour milk into the cup. * NESCAFÉ recommends to use milk with at least 3 % fat. Remove drip tray when using a Latte Macchiato glass. Touch the desired menu icon. The selected menu icon starts flashing. Put a cup in place. Touch and hold the menu icon for the beverage you wish to adjust for 2 seconds. The power button light changes to orange. The selected menu icon lights green. Coffee extraction starts. When the selected menu icon stops flashing green you can adjust the amount of hot water. 86 Hot water/coffee extraction starts and stops automatically. To stop the extraction partway through, touch selected menu icon again and wait until light stops blinking. Nevertheless some coffee will continue to flow as long as the icon is flashing. 87 When selected menu icon stops flashing your coffee is ready. All lights are steady green. Enjoy your coffee. CAUTION! Your coffee will be hot! 8i To heat up the cup before preparing coffee touch Cappuccino and Americano icon simultaneously. CAUTION! Hot water will flow out! Afterwards throw away water and continue with step 1. 94 +/ When the beverage reaches the desired amount touch the menu icon to stop. If you do not touch machine will stop at the maximum water level! 9i After changing the setting... Once you have changed the setting, the new amount of hot water will be used as the standard amount when you make the next coffee. (The new amount of hot water is not reset when you turn off the power.) When a small cup is used, the coffee may overflow the cup if you set the amount of hot water too high. To adjust to a new amount of hot water, repeat the above procedure (the current setting will be overwritten). Resetting initial beverage recipes 1 Connect the power plug. 2 Check that the power is OFF. 3 Touch and hold the Cappuccino icon THEN the power button simultaneously. 4 Release the buttons when all the icon lights start flashing fast in green. 5 Machine is now back to factory settings. 6 Initial rinsing must be performed (see page 5). 8 9

CLEANING - OVERVIEW OF THE PARTS Cleaning is to be performed when the maintenance icon starts blinking ( ). Regular maintenance of the machine ensures a better in-cup quality and a longer lifetime. About the water tank: Coffee box - do not rinse! Coffee box cap CLEANING DRAWER & MIXING CHAMBER 1/2 CAUTION! Put none of the parts into a dishwasher! OFF! CAUTION! Coffee box 111 112 11 3 Do not touch the protrusion (connection part) on the bottom of the water tank. If you touch the protrusion on the bottom of tank when it has water in it, the water may spill from the tank. Dosing unit - rinsing OK! Magnet (Do not expose to magnetic sensitive appliances!) Coffee box scraper Switch machine off. Unplug power plug. Pull out the drawer. Press down the blue lock handle. Water tank connection part Dosing unit (constructed from the three parts below) Lower disk No. 2* 1 1 11 6 Inside the drawer: Upper disk No. 1* Dosing unit housing No. 3* *No. is engraved on the dosing unit housing Check that the lock handle is down. Remove the mixing chamber. Press the slider cover inwards from the both sides and pull it out. Sometimes the residue hardens, making it a little bit difficult to remove. Release the lock under the mixing chamber. High velocity hot water jet Slider cover (green) No. 4** Mixing chamber mesh Mixing chamber 117 118 min. 2 minutes 11 9 To remove the mixing chamber, pull down on the lock handle. Mixing chamber lock handle (blue) **No. is engraved on the slider cover Drawer Rinse drawer and slider cover under hot water. Wipe with a soft damp cloth. Soak mixing chamber in hot water for at least 2 minutes. If coffee is still adhered, scrape it off gently. Dry away moisture. 10 11

CLEANING DRAWER & MIXING CHAMBER 2/2 CAUTION! Put none of the parts into a dishwasher! CLEANING DRIP TRAY, TANKS & DOSING UNIT 1/2 CAUTION! Put none of the parts into a dishwasher! Check inside! Top OFF! 10 12 12 11 12 131 132 13 Bottom Check the holes inside the mixing chamber: If the holes are blocked with coffee, rinse again with hot water. Push down lever until you hear a Click. In case mesh has been removed: Check orientation of the mesh (the mesh has a top and a bottom side). Switch machine off. Unplug power cord. Rinse drip tray with hot water and clean it with a brush. Rinse and clean water tank. Afterwards refill with fresh, potable water and insert it to machine. No. 3 13 12 12 12 134 135 136 No. 1 Push mesh into original position. Ensure it is fully inserted. Align arrows on slider cover and main body. Press the slider cover in until you hear a Click. Make sure that step 11 has been correctly followed. Push mixing chamber into the main body. Ensure it is fully inserted. Make sure that coffee tank is empty. Turn the dosing unit clockwise and remove it from the coffee box. Turn over the dosing unit and remove the upper disk No. 1. Using the thumbs turn in the direction of the OPEN arrow until you hear a Click. 12 12 17 Pull up blue handle to lock mixing chamber. Slide drawer in until you feel the Click. 137 138 Put your fingers into the openings and remove lower disk No. 2. Lower disk No. 2 Dosing unit housing No. 3 Upper disk No. 1 Check whether all three parts are there. 139 Wipe away the dirt with a soft damp cloth. Soak disk No. 1 and disk No. 2 in hot water. 12 13

DESCALING 1/2 CLEANING DRIP TRAY, TANKS & DOSING UNIT 2/2 CAUTION! Put none of the parts into a dishwasher! If you don t descale your machine according to the following recommendations issues and even break down could happen. We recommend to descale your machine depending on water hardness and consumption but at least twice a year (see table below). Water hardness i 11 10 Hard water Medium Soft Remove coffee box cap and scraper. Clean cap and scraper with a soft damp cloth. Do not clean the coffee box with flowing water! Do not wash surface of machine using descaling agent. Rinse and dry parts carefully before reassembling! Ideally let it dry for one night. Do not use a hair dryer deformation may result! The label No. 3 gets visible. 1 Using the thumbs of both hands turn the lower disk No. 2 in the direction of the CLOSE arrow until you hear a Click. Dissolve 80 g of descaling agent in 700 ml of water. Do not use hot water! Remove drip tray. Place a container with a capacity of at least 700 ml under the coffee outlet. Take water tank out. Pour descaling solution into water tank. Insert water tank to machine. Central protrusion 7 sec 17 4 5 6 Fit the scraper with the protrusion in the centre facing inwards and insert it into the corresponding recess. Put coffee box back on dosing unit. With the dosing unit held steady at the bottom, close by turning the coffee box clockwise until it stops. To enter the descaling mode, start with machine off, then press on Espresso icon & power button for 7 seconds. All menu icons start flashing. Release the buttons. Espresso icon and power button lights up steady green. Touch Espresso icon to start descaling process (icon starts flashing green). Descaling solution is discharged: First from high velocity hot water jet, then from coffee outlet.

DESCALING 2/2 7 8 GREEN & ORANGE LIGHT SIGNALS 9 ~25 sec 5 min 5 min Wait 5 minutes to let the descaling solution work. Touch Espresso icon to start again descaling process (icon starts flashing green). Descaling solution is discharged: First from high velocity hot water jet, then from coffee outlet. Wait another 5 minutes to let descaling solution work. Throw away water from container.
