Client Certificate Update Guide for CPDMS.NET (Internet Explorer) 2015-2016 There are new CPDMS.NET client certificates for 2015 2016. To use these you will need to remove old client certificates and then install the new ones. The new certificates are valid until 04/1/2016 Part 1 Download the new client certificate 1. Download the certificate from the KCR File Exchange web site https://www.kcr.uky.edu/fes/ 2. On the Login screen enter your Login and Password that was assigned to your facility. (If you do not know these, please contact KCR at the information provided at the end of this document) 3. Once you have logged in, click on Download Files to navigate to the Download Screen. 4. In the Download Screen : Click on Download Now next to the file named your_hospital_id_c2015.p12. (For our example we are using a file called kcr_c2015.p12) 5. When you receive a File Download window, click on Save. In our example we saved the file to the Desktop. 6. Download another file from the File Exchange website called your_hospital_id_c2015_code.doc This file contains the installation password you will need to install the client certificate. Please download this file in the same way as you did in Step 4. Once you have saved this file, open it in a text editor like notepad and safely record the installation password. Now that you have safely downloaded the new client certificate and the password, you must remove any old CPDMS.NET client certificate that may be on your machine. 7. Download another file from the File Exchange website called KCR_Root_CA.crt This file is the Certificate Authority for CPDMS.NET and does not require a password to install. Now that you have safely downloaded the new client certificate, its password and the certificate authority, you must remove any old CPDMS.NET client certificate that may be on your machine.
Part 2 Removing the old client certificate CPDMS.NET Client Certificate Update 1. Open up Internet Explorer and click on Tools Internet Options 2. In the Internet Options window click on the Content tab 3. Click on Certificates
4. In the Certificates window, click on the Personal tab and see if you already have a certificate for CPDMS.NET. You are looking for files which have been Issued By cpdms.net CA. Only if you have such files then proceed to Step 5. 5. In our example, the certificate is issued to KCR, but in your case, the certificate will be issed to your hospital Id. 6. Select the certificate and click on Remove. 7. Say Yes to the warning message you will receive.
8. The Certificates Window should now not contain the old client certificate. Now that you have deleted the old client certificate for CPDMS.NET, you can proceed to install the new client certificate. Proceed to Step 3. Part 3 Installing the new client certificate
1. In the Certificates window, click on Import. 2. This will launch the Certificate Import Wizard. Click Next to proceed.
3. Browse for the Certificate file you downloaded in Part 1. Click Next to proceed. 4. In the next window, type in the password that you recorded earlier, to install the client certificate.
Leave the default options unchecked. Click Next to proceed. CPDMS.NET Client Certificate Update 5. Click on the Automatically select setting. Click Next to proceed.
6. Click Finish to complete the process. You have now imported the certificate. 7. You will receive notification that lets you know that you were successful. Click OK.
8. The Certificates Window will now show you the next certificate. Click Close. Click OK.
Part 4 Installing the certificate authority 1. In the Certificate window, in Trusted Root Certification Authorities section, click on Import. 2. Click Next on the Certificate Import Wizard window
3. Browse for the KCR_Root_CA.crt Certificate file you downloaded in Part 1. Click Open. 4. Click Next
5. Leave the defaults alone and Click Next.
6. Click Finish. That s it. Now when you log into https://cpdms.net/ you will be prompted to select your new certificate.
