Georgia Drug Free Community Coalitions and Drug Task Forces Directory April 2012

http://www.livedrugfree.org/ This Directory is being made available by the Georgia Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Initiative via funding from the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities/Division of Addictive Diseases/Office of Prevention Services and Programs (DBHDD/DAD/OPSP) via a contract to The Council on Alcohol and Drugs. The following Drug Free Community Coalitions (DFCCs) and Drug Task Forces have agreed to be a resource for sharing their success, challenges, and overcoming of challenges regarding the prevention of prescription drug abuse in Georgia. A DFCC is a community-based coalition that organizes to primarily to prevent youth substance use. Each DFCC focuses on the drug(s) that have been assessed to have had the biggest impact in their community. All the DFCCs have or are currently receiving federal funding. Recent evaluation data has indicated that where DFCC dollars are invested, youth substance use is lower. The Drug Task Forces that are listed in this document are very similar to the DFCCs in that they both are community based and have organized to address drug abuse issue(s) identified in their community. However, the major difference is that a Drug Task Force is most often started by local law enforcement and the money to support the Drug Task Force is supplied from state and local sources. 1
