Information on key topics. Protective screens Hydraulic hoses Protecting and ensuring the safety of processes and staff are key elements, which is why we want to draw your attention to existing guidelines and recommendations. Age and wear can increase the safety risk of many components. This information should be observed in order to avoid hazards and shutdowns. We can replace numerous components that no longer reflect the state of technology fairly quickly, thus ensuring that your machining centre is again risk-free and reflects best engineering practices. "The safety of your staff must always be your top priority." 16 17
MAINTENANCE PROTECTIVE WINDOW Adhere to the specified intervals for replacing protective windows. HYDRAULIC HOSES BGR 237 Lifetime of hydraulic hoses Pursuant to Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, protective windows are classified as guards and safety components. Cooling lubricants can cause the protective windows to become brittle an effect that is usually not visible but which drastically impairs the window s retention capabilities. Hydraulic hoses naturally age during use. This ageing process alters the material and composite properties and impairs the performance capabilities of the hoses. Cracks can appear in aged hoses. To ensure unrestricted safety, protective windows should be replaced every two years unless otherwise specified. Damaged protective windows (cracks, lubricant penetration, etc.) must be replaced immediately! Oil can then spurt out, causing injuries and fires! Replacing hoses as a precautionary measure enhances machine and staff safety and machine availability considerably! The trade association specifies a maximum permissible lifetime of two years for hoses that are exposed to increased stress. Replacing a protective windows takes about one hour and could be performed during an inspection of your Handtmann machine. Do not ignore the need to replace hydraulic hoses. If planned in good time, our service technicians can replace them during an inspection, for example. As such, the replacement is pre dictable and reduces unscheduled machine shutdowns. 18 19
